Progress of gaseous arsenic removal from flue gas by adsorption:Experimental and theoretical calculations

Because of its high mobility and difficult capture,gaseous arsenic pollution control has become the focus of arsenic pollution *** mainly exists in the form of highly toxic As_(2)O_(3)in the flue ***,removing gaseous As_(2)O_(3)from flue gas is of great practical significance for arsenic pollution *** gaseous As_(2)O_(3)on the surface of adsorbents by physical or chemical adsorption is an effective way to reduce the content of arsenic in the flue gas and alleviate arsenic *** the past few decades,various adsorbents have been developed to capture gaseous As_(2)O_(3)in the flue gas,and their adsorption mechanisms have been studied in ***,it is necessary to review the strategies of arsenic removal from flue gas by adsorption,which can inspire further *** on summarizing the morphological distribution of gaseous As_(2)O_(3)in the flue gas,this review further summarizes the removal of gaseous As_(2)O_(3)by several adsorbents and the effect of temperature and the main components of the flue gas on arsenic *** addition,the mechanism of arsenic removal based on adsorption in the flue gas is discussed in depth through theoretical calculations,which is the particular focus of this ***,prospects based on the present research state of arsenic removal by adsorption are proposed to provide ideas for developing effective and stable adsorbents for arsenic removal from flue gas.

Dissolved organic matter(DOM) plays an essential role in many geochemical processes,however its complexity, chemical diversity, and molecular composition are poorly understood. Soil samples were collected from 500 vegetable fields in administrative regions of China' Mainland, of which 122 were selected for further investigation. DOM properties were characterized by three-dimensional excitation-emission matrix(3D-EEM) fuorescence spectroscopy and Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry(FTICRMS)(field intensity is 15 Tesla). Our results indicated that the main constituents were UVA humic-like substances, humic-like substances, fulvic acid-like substances, and tyrosine-like substances. A total of 10,989 molecular formulae with a mass range of 100.04 to 799.59 Da were detected, covering the mass spectrometric information of the soil samples from 27 different regions. CHO and CHON molecules were dominant in DOM, whereas lignin, tannins,and aromatic substances served as the main components. The results of cluster analysis revealed that the soil properties in Jiangxi Province were considerably different from those in other regions. The key backgrounds of the DOM molecular characteristics in the vegetablefield soil samples across China' Mainland were provided at the molecular level, with large abundance and great variability.

A systematic review of the inequality of health burdens related to climate change

Climate change significantly impacts human health,exacerbating existing health inequalities and creating new *** study addresses the lack of systematic review in this area by analyzing 2440 publications,focusing on four key terms:health,disparities,environmental factors,and climate *** inclusion criteria limited the selection to English-language,peer-reviewed articles related to climate health hazards,ensuring the relevance and rigor of the synthesized *** process synthesized 65 relevant *** investigation revealed that recent research,predominantly from developed countries,has broadened its scope beyond temperature-related impacts to encompass diverse climate hazards,including droughts,extreme weather,floods,mental health issues,and the intersecting effects of Coronavirus Disease *** has highlighted exposure as the most studied element in the causal chain of climate change-related health inequalities,followed by adaptive capability and inherent *** most significant vulnerabilities were observed among populations with low socioeconomic status,ethnic minorities,and *** study further reveals research biases and methodological limitations,such as the paucity of attention to underdeveloped regions,a narrow focus on non-temperature-related hazards,challenges in attributing climate change effects,and a deficit of large-scale empirical *** findings call for more innovative research approaches and a holistic integration of physical,socio-political,and economic dimensions to enrich climate-health discourse and inform equitable policy-making.

Despite the engineering potential by the co-existence of inorganic and organic substances to protect vulnerable metallic materials from corrosive environments,both their interaction and in-situ formation mechanism to induce the nature-inspired composite remained less *** present work used three distinctive mercaptobenzazole(MB)compounds working as corrosion inhibitors,such as 2-mercaptobenzoxazole(MBO),2-mercaptobenzothiazole(MBT),and 2-mercaptobenzimidazole(MBI)in a bid to understand how the geometrical structure arising from O,S,and N atoms affected the interaction toward inorganic *** compounds that were used here to control the corrosion kinetics would be interacted readily with the pre-existing MgO layer fabricated by plasma *** phenomenon triggered the nucleation of the root network since MB compounds were seen to be adsorbed actively on the defective surface through the active sites in MB ***,the molecule with twin donor atoms adjacent to the mercapto-sites affected the facile growth of the grass-like structures with‘uniform’distribution via molecular self-assembly,which showed better corrosion performance than those with having dissimilar donor atoms with the inhibition efficiency(η)of 97%*** formation mechanism underlying nucleation and growth behavior of MB molecule was discussed concerning the theoretical calculation of density functional theory.

Study on crustal thickness and the prediction of prolific depressions:the Bohai Basin as an example

The deep crustal structure is closely related to oil and gas *** the oil and gas enrichment of depressions based on the Moho depth and crustal thickness is a promising research topic with significant implications for guiding exploration in petroliferous *** this study,seismic data were used as a constraint on the use of satellite gravity anomaly inversion to obtain the distribution of Moho depth and crustal thickness in the Bohai *** factors were calculated to analyze the differential distribution of deep crustal structural *** indicators,including the minimum Moho depth,minimum crustal thickness,sum of Moho stretching factors,and sum of crustal stretching factors,were *** component analysis was applied to reduce the dimensionality of the multi-indicator system and obtain an oil and gas enrichment score for quantitative prediction of favorable prolific *** deviation between the inverted Moho depth and seismic constraints was small;thus,the data effectively reflect the variations in the characteristics of each *** analysis revealed significant statistical features related to the minimum Moho depth/crustal thickness and the sum of Moho/crustal stretching factors associated with prolific *** on the oil and gas enrichment score,the depressions were classified into four categories related to their different deep crustal structural *** active ClassⅠ,ClassⅡ,and ClassⅢdepressions are predicted to be favorable prolific *** study expands the research on quantitatively predicting favorable prolific depressions in the Bohai Basin using the deep crustal structure and can contribute to reducing production costs and improving exploration efficiency in future explorations.

Energy storage and conservation are receiving increased attention due to rising global energy ***,the development of energy storage materials is *** energy storage(TES)systems based on phase change materials(PCMs)have increased in prominence over the past two decades,not only because of their outstanding heat storage capacities but also their superior thermal energy regulation ***,issues such as leakage and low thermal conductivity limit their applicability in a variety of ***-based materials such as graphene and its derivatives can be utilized to surmount these *** study examines the recent advancements in graphene-based phase change composites(PCCs),where graphene-based nanostructures such as graphene,graphene oxide(GO),functionalized graphene/GO,and graphene aerogel(GA)are incorporated into PCMs to substantially enhance their shape stability and thermal conductivity that could be translated to better storage capacity,durability,and temperature response,thus boosting their attractiveness for TES *** addition,the applications of these graphene-based PCCs in various TES disciplines,such as energy conservation in buildings,solar utilization,and battery thermal management,are discussed and summarized.

A systematic understanding of microbial reductive dechlorination towards an improved “one health” soil bioremediation: A review and perspective

Chlorinated organic pollutants(COPs), both emerging and traditional, are typical persistent pollutants that harm soil health worldwide. Dechlorinators mediated reductive dechlorination is the optimal way to completely remove COPs from anaerobic soil through a redox reaction driven by electron transfer during microbial anaerobic respiration. Generally, the dechlorinated depletion of COPs in situ often interacts with multiple element biogeochemical activities, e.g., methanogenesis, sulfate reduction, iron reduction, and denitrification. Elucidating the relevance of biogeochemical cycles between COPs and multiple elements and the coupled mechanisms involved, thus, helps to develop effective pollution control strategies with the balance between pollution degradation and element cycles in heterogeneous soil, ultimately contributing to “one health” goal. In this review, we summarized the microbial-chemical coupling redox processes and the driving factors, elucidated the interspecies metabolites exchange and electron transfer mechanisms within COP-dechlorinating communities, and further proposed a detailed design, construction, and analysis framework of engineering COP-dechlorinating microbiomes via “top-down” selfassembly and “bottom-up” synthesis to pave the way from laboratory to practical field application. Especially, we delve into the major challenges and perspectives surrounding the design of state-of-the-art synthetic microbial communities. Our goal is to improve the understanding of the microbial-mediated coupling between reductive dechlorination and element biogeochemical cycling, with a particular focus on the implications for health-integrated soil bioremediation under the “one health” concept.

Fast measurement and prediction method for electromagnetic susceptibility of receiver

Aiming at evaluating and predicting rapidly and accurately a high sensitivity receiver’s adaptability in complex electromagnetic environments,a novel testing and prediction method based on dual-channel multi-frequency is proposed to improve the traditional two-tone ***,two signal generators are used to generate signals at the radio frequency(RF)by frequency scanning,and then a rapid measurement at the intermediate frequency(IF)output port is carried out to obtain a huge amount of sample data for the subsequent ***,the IF output response data are modeled and analyzed to construct the linear and nonlinear response constraint equations in the frequency domain and prediction models in the power domain,which provide the theoretical criteria for interpreting and predicting electromagnetic susceptibility(EMS)of the *** experiment performed on a radar receiver confirms the reliability of the method proposed in this *** shows that the interference of each harmonic frequency and each order to the receiver can be identified and predicted with the sensitivity *** on this,fast and comprehensive evaluation and prediction of the receiver’s EMS in complex environment can be efficiently realized.

Effects of impregnation sequence on the NH_(3)-SCR activity and hydrothermal stability of a Ce-Nb/SnO_(2) catalyst

Hydrothermal stability is crucial for the practical application of deNO_(x)catalyst on diesel vehicles,for the selective catalytic reduction of NO_(x)with NH_(3)(NH_(3)-SCR).SnO_(2)-based materials possess superior hydrothermal stability,which is attractive for the development of NH_(3)-SCR *** this work,a series of Ce-Nb/SnO_(2)catalysts,with Ce and Nb loading on SnO_(2)support,were prepared by impregnation *** was found that,the NH_(3)-SCR activities and hydrothermal stabilities of the Ce-Nb/SnO_(2)catalysts significantly varied with the impregnation sequences,and the Ce-Nb(f)/SnO_(2) catalyst that firstly impregnated Nb and then impregnated Ce exhibited the best *** characterization results revealed that CeNb(f)/SnO_(2)possessed appropriate acidity and redox ***,the strong synergistic effect between Nb and Sn species stabilized the structure and maintained the dispersion of acid *** study may provide a new understanding for the effect of impregnation sequence on activity and hydrothermal stability and a new environmental-friendly NH_(3)-SCR catalyst with potential applications for NO_(x)removal from diesel and hydrogenfueled engines.

The report highlights the signiﬁcant progress over various regions with respect to understanding of coastal hazards,numerical modeling techniques and the generation&dissemination of coastal hazard warnings and *** developments over various regions in the globe during 2014–18 have been discussed in this report as presented during 10th Session of International Workshop on Tropical Cyclones(IWTC-X)at Bali,*** speciﬁcally,various regions have started to confront the uncertainty that cannot be removed from TC analyses and forecasts and further communicate those hazards within the context of risk[probabilistic]based *** also includes impact-based forecasts such as communicating coastal inundation information relative to total water level instead of storm surge,speciﬁcally(i.e.,anomaly from as-tronomical tide and waves).Lastly,updates to model grid conﬁguration,model resolution,and coupled dynamical systems continue to resolve the costal hazards more *** approaches have likely helped reduce loss of life relative to historical ***,regions agree that the generation and dissemination of coastal hazard information still need to be improved in view of growing population along the coast and thus increased exposure of life to coastal hazard.
