Effect of low-degree astigmatism on the objective visual quality

AIM:To evaluate the effect of low-degree astigmatism on objective visual quality through the Optical Quality Analysis System(OQAS).METHODS:This study enrolled 46 participants(aged 23 to 30y,90 eyes)with normal or corrected-to-normal *** cylindrical lenses(0,0.5,0.75,1.0,and 1.25 D)were placed at the axial direction(180°,45°,90°,and 135°)in front of the eyes with the best correction to form 16 types of regular low-degree *** was used to detect the objective visual quality,recorded as the objective scattering index(OSI),OQAS values at contrasts of 100%,20%,and 9%predictive visual acuity(OV100%,OV20%,and OV9%),modulation transfer function cut-off(MTFcut-off)and Strehl ratio(SR).The mixed effect linear model was used to compare objective visual quality differences between groups and examine associations between astigmatic magnitude and objective visual quality ***:Apparent negative relationships between the magnitude of low astigmatism and objective visual quality were *** increase of OSI per degree of astigmatism at 180°,45°,90°,and 135°axis were 0.38(95%CI:0.35,0.42),0.50(95%CI:0.46,0.53),0.49(95%CI:0.45,0.54)and 0.37(95%CI:0.34,0.41),*** decrease of MTFcut-off per degree of astigmatism at 180°,45°,90°,and 135°axis were-10.30(95%CI:-11.43,-9.16),-12.73(95%CI:-13.62,-11.86),-12.75(95%CI:-13.79,-11.70),and-9.97(95%CI:-10.92,-9.03),*** the same astigmatism degree,OSI at 45°and 90°axis were higher than that at 0°and 135°axis,while MTFcut-off were ***:Low astigmatism of only 0.50 D can significantly reduce the objective visual quality.

BACKGROUND The prognostic value of coronary collateral circulation(CC)in patients undergoing chronic total occlusion(CTO)percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)is *** purpose of the study was to assess the prognostic value of current two CC grading systems and their association with long-term outcomes in patients with CTO underwent *** We consecutively enrolled patients with single-vessel CTO underwent PCI between January 2010 and *** patients were categorized into well-developed or poor-developed collaterals group according to angiographic Werner's CC(grade 2 *** 0–1)or Rentrop(grade 3 *** 0–2)grading *** primary endpoint was 5-year cardiac *** Of 2452 enrolled patients,the overall technical success rate was 74.1%.Well-developed collaterals were present in686 patients(28.0%)defined by Werner's CC grade 2,and in 1145 patients(46.7%)by Rentrop grade *** to Werner's CC grading system,patients with well-developed collaterals had a lower rate of 5-year cardiac death compared with those with poordeveloped collaterals(1.6%vs.3.3%,P=0.02),those with suboptimal recanalization was associated with higher rate of 5-year cardiac death compared with optimal recanalization(4.7%vs.0.8%,P=0.01)and failure patients(4.7%vs.1.6%,P=0.12).However,the similar effect was not shown in Rentrop grading *** In patients with the single-vessel CTO underwent PCI,well-developed collaterals by Werner's CC definition were associated with lower rate of 5-year cardiac ***'s CC grading system had a greater prognostic value than Rentrop grading system in patients with CTO underwent PCI.

Background: The association and its population heterogeneities between low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and all-cause and cardiovascular mortality remain unknown. We aimed to examine the dose-dependent associations of LDL-C levels with specific types of cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality and heterogeneities in the associations among different population ***: A total of 2,968,462 participants aged 35-75 years from China Health Evaluation And risk Reduction through nationwide Teamwork (ChinaHEART) (2014-2019) were included. Cox proportional hazard models and Fine-Gray subdistribution hazard models were used to estimate associations between LDL-C categories (<70.0, 70.0-99.9, 100.0-129.9 [reference group], 130.0-159.9, 160.0-189.9, and ≥190.0 mg/dL) and all-cause and cause-specific ***: During a median follow-up of 3.7 years, 57,391 and 23,241 deaths from all-cause and overall CVD were documented. We observed J-shaped associations between LDL-C and death from all-cause, overall CVD, coronary heart disease (CHD), and ischemic stroke, and an L-shaped association between LDL-C and hemorrhagic stroke (HS) mortality (P for non-linearity <0.001). Compared with the reference group (100.0-129.9 mg/dL), very low LDL-C levels (<70.0 mg/dL) were significantly associated with increased risk of overall CVD (hazard ratio [HR]: 1.10, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.06-1.14) and HS mortality (HR: 1.37, 95% CI: 1.29-1.45). Very high LDL-C levels (≥190.0 mg/dL) were associated with increased risk of overall CVD (HR: 1.51, 95% CI: 1.40-1.62) and CHD mortality (HR: 2.08, 95% CI: 1.92-2.24). The stronger associations of very low LDL-C with risk of CVD mortality were observed in individuals with older age, low or normal body mass index, low or moderate 10-year atherosclerotic CVD risk, and those without diagnosed CVD or taking statins. Variations, effectiveness and its associated factors of a nationwide web-based hypertension management training project in China: insights from a government-led campaign for 1.2 million lay health workers

OBJECTIVES To evaluate the effectiveness of a large-scale,web-based,in-service hypertension management training project among lay health workers(LHWs)at primary care health(PHC)settings in China,and to examine the factors contributing to the of *** METHODS We used data from a web-based national hypertension management training project implemented in 2018,it was designed to facilitate LHWs to learn,understand,and apply the relevant knowledge and skills in hypertension management through providing training courses by use of the web-based platform with unified *** LHWs were required to parti-cipate in the exams before and after training to acquire scores for the use of evaluating their performance of hypertension man-agement *** first used descriptive analysis to present the variations of effectiveness in hypertension management knowledge among LHWs by important ***,we used multilevel logistic regression to examine the individual regional factors contributing to the variations and quantify the magnitude of how these factors affected training *** RESULTS There were 1,208,610 LHWs who completed training and were ***,the scores of LHWs in-creased significantly from 62.87±21.14 out of 100 in the pre-test to 88.30±11.31 in the post-test by 25.43(95%confidence interval[CI]:25.40-25.47).Training contents involved in antihypertensive medication showed the lowest score(54.36)in the pre-test and soared the most after training,up to 84.22 by 54.94%.Individual factors associated with disparities in the knowledge of hyperten-sion management decreased substantially after training,which included sex,age,education,practice type,professional level,and hierarchy of working *** variations were shown at the provincial level,with the majority of them being ex-by factors at the regional *** CONCLUSIONS Accessible web-based training modality,government efforts,accompanie
