Exposures to copper have become a health *** aim to explore the broad clinical effects of blood copper concentrations.A total of 376,346 Caucasian subjects were *** performed a Mendelian randomization and phenome-wide association study(MR-PheWAS)to evaluate the causal association between copper and a wide range of outcomes in UK Biobank,and we constructed a protein-protein interaction *** found association between blood copper concentrations and five diseases in the overall population and nine diseases in *** analysis implicated a causal role of blood copper in five diseases(overall population),including prostate cancer(OR=0.87,95%CI 0.77-0.98),malignant and unknown neoplasms of the brain and nervous system(OR=0.58,95%CI 0.38-0.89),and hypertension(OR=0.94,95%CI 0.90-0.98),essential hypertension(OR=0.94,95%CI 0.90-0.98)and cancer of brain and nervous system(OR=0.63,95%CI 0.41-0.98).For male,except for dysphagia being newly associated with blood copper(OR=1.39,95%CI 1.18-1.63),other MR results were consistent with the overall *** addition,the PPI network showed possible relationship between blood copper and four outcomes,namely brain cancer,prostate cancer,hypertension,and *** copper may have causal association with prostate cancer,malignant and unknown neoplasms of the brain and nervous system,hypertension,and *** that copper is modifiable,exploring whether regulation of copper levels can be used to optimize health outcomes might have public health importance.

Perioperative effects of high doses of intraoperative thymoglobulin induction in liver transplantation

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the feasibility and tolerability of metoprolol standard dosing pathway(MSDP)in Chinese patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS).METHODS In this multicenter,prospective,open label,single-arm and interventional study that was conducted from February 2018 to April 2019 in fifteen Chinese hospitals.A total of 998 hospitalized patients aged≥18 years and diagnosed with ACS were *** MSDP was applied to all eligible ACS patients based on the standard treatment recommended by international *** primary endpoint was the percentage of patients achieving the target dose at discharge(V2).The secondary endpoints included the heart rate and blood pressure at V2 and four weeks after discharge(V4),and percentage of patients experiencing bradycardia(heart rateblood pressure<90/60 mmHg)and transient cardiac dysfunction at V2 and *** Of the 998 patients,29.46%of patients achieved the target dose(≥95 mg/d)at *** total population was divided into two groups:target group(patients achieving the target dose at V2)and non-target group(patients not achieving the target dose at V2).There was significant difference in the reduction of heart rate from baseline to discharge in the two groups(-4.97±11.90beats/min vs.-2.70±9.47 beats/min,P=0.034).There was no significant difference in the proportion of bradycardia that occurred in the two groups at V2(0 vs.0,P=1.000)and V4(0.81%vs.0.33%,P=0.715).There was no significant difference in the proportion of hypotension between the two groups at V2(0.004%vs.0.004%,P=1.000)and V4(0 vs.0.005%,P=0.560).No transient cardiac dysfunction occurred in two groups during the study.A total of five adverse events(1.70%)and one serious adverse event(0.34%)were related to the pathway in target *** In Chinese ACS patients,the feasibility and tolerability of the MSDP have been proved to be acceptable.

Thyroid hormone alterations in trauma patients requiring massive transfusion: An observational study

BACKGROUND: Although non-thyroidal illness syndrome(NTIS) is considered a negative prognostic factor, the alterations in free triiodothyronine(f T3) levels in trauma patients requiring massive transfusion have not been ***: A prospective observational study comparing 2 groups of trauma patients was conducted. Group M comprised trauma patients requiring massive transfusions(>10 units of packed red blood cells) within 24 hours of emergency admission. Group C comprised patients with an injury severity score >9 but not requiring massive transfusions. Levels of f T3, free thyroxine(f T4), and thyroidstimulating hormone(TSH) were evaluated on admission and on days 1, 2, and 7 after admission. The clinical backgrounds and variables measured including total transfusion amounts were compared and the inter-group prognosis was evaluated. Results are presented as mean±standard ***: Nineteen patients were enrolled in each group. In both groups, 32 were men, and the mean age was 50±24 years. In group C one patient died from respiratory failure. The initial f T3 levels in group M(1.95±0.37 pg/m L) were signifi cantly lower than those in group C(2.49±0.72 pg/m L; Ptransfusions. When initial resuscitation achieved circulatory stabilization, prognosis was not strongly associated with NTIS.

Decades of work have elucidated cytokine signalling and transcriptional pathways that control T cell differentiation and have led the way to targeted biologic therapies that are effective in a range of autoimmune,allergic and inflammatory *** evidence indicates that obesity and metabolic disease can also influence the immune system1-7,although the mechanisms and effects on immunotherapy outcomes remain largely ***,using two models of atopic dermatitis,we show that lean and obese mice mount markedly different immune *** converted the classical type 2 T helper(TH2)-predominant disease associated with atopic dermatitis to a more severe disease with prominent TH17 *** also observed divergent responses to biologic therapies targeting TH2 cytokines,which robustly protected lean mice but exacerbated disease in obese ***-cell RNA sequencing coupled with genome-wide binding analyses revealed decreased activity of nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ(PPARγ)in TH2 cells from obese mice relative to lean mice.

Background Noise,the second common environmental cause after air pollution,is associated with the non-auditory disorders such as increased blood *** the risk due to the noise exposure might help to prevent further development of *** We investigated an association between occupational noise exposure and blood pressure in different hypertension stages in models stratified with ***,we examined the noise-BMI,noise-gender,and noise-residence interactions on hypertension risk in separate *** We utilized 124,286 young adults(18-40 years) from project the Environmental and LifEstyle Factors iN metabolic health throughout life-course Trajectories(ELEFANT).We determined the noise exposure as yes/no and measured the blood pressure as mm *** applied logistic regression models adjusted with covariates to assess the associations and *** We found that noise exposure was responsible to increase 0.23 mm Hg(95%CI:0.10,0.38,p=0.0009) in elevated,0.15 mm Hg(95%CI:0.06,0.22,p=0.0008) in stage 1,and 0.41 mm Hg(95%CI:0.27,0.55) in stage ***,noise exposure-BMI interaction was consistently positively associated with 0.71 mm Hg(95%CI:0.44,0.990,pblood pressure in elevated,stage 1,and stage ***,noise exposure was interacted with the BMI,gender,and residence which induced increase the blood pressure.
