In contrast to astrocytes in mammals, fish astrocytes promote axon regeneration after brain injury and actively participate in the regeneration process. Neurolin, a regeneration-associated, Zn8-1abeled protein, is involved in the repair of damaged optic nerve in goldfish. At 1 week after unilateral eye injury, the ex- pression of neurolin in the optic nerve and chiasm, and the expression of Pax6 that influences nervous system development in various brain regions in the rainbow trout （Oncorhynchus mykiss） were detected. Immunohistochemical staining revealed that the number of Zn8~ cells in the optic nerve head and intraor- bital segment was obviously increased, and the increase in Zn8~ cells was also observed in the proximal and distal parts of injured optic nerve. This suggests that Zn8＊ astrocytes participate in optic nerve regeneration. ELISA results revealed that Pax6 protein increased obviously at 1 week post-injury. Immunohistochemi- cal staining revealed the appearance of Pax6＋ neurogenic niches and a larger number of neural precursor cells, which are mainly from Pax6＋ radial glia cells, in the nuclei of the diencephalon and optic tectum of rainbow trout （Oncorhynchus mykiss）. Taken together, unilateral eye injury can cause optic nerve reaction, and the formation of neurogenic niches is likely a compensation phenomenon during the repair process of optic nerve injury in rainbow trout （Oncorhynchus mykiss）.

Peritoneal dialysis(PD)is a commonly used modality for kidney replacement therapy for patients with end-stage kidney disease(ESKD).PD offers many benefits,including home-based care,greater flexibility,and preservation of residual kidney function compared to in-center ***,patients undergoing PD often face significant challenges,including systemic inflammation,PD-related peritonitis,metabolic disorders,and cardiovascular issues that can negatively affect their quality of life and treatment *** studies have demonstrated the crucial role of the gut microbiome in overall health and treatment results,supporting the hypothesis that probiotics may bring potential benefits to the general population of ESKD ***,specific data on probiotic use in PD patients are *** opinion review aims to summarize the current knowledge on the relationship between PD and the gut microbiome and offers a novel perspective by specifically exploring how probiotic interventions could improve the outcomes of PD *** review also outlines some clinical data supporting the effectiveness of probiotics in patients undergoing PD and considers the difficulties and restrictions in their *** on the current knowledge gaps,this study seeks to explore future research directions and their implications for clinical practice.

Evaluation of the glacial isostatic adjustment(GIA) models for antarctica based on GPS vertical velocities

Due to the scarcity of data, modeling the glacial isostatic adjustment(GIA) for antarctica is more difficult than it is for the ancient ice sheet area in North America and Northern Europe. Large uncertainties are observed in existing GIA models for antarctica. Modern space-based geodetic measurements provide checks and constraints for GIA models. The present-day uplift velocities of global positioning system(GPS) stations at 73 stations in antarctica and adjacent regions from 1996 to 2014 have been estimated using GAMIT/GLOBK version 10.5 with a colored noise model. To easily analyze the effect of difference sources on the vertical velocities, and for easy comparison with both GIA model predictions and GPS results from Argus et al.(2014) and Thomas et al.(2011), seven sub-regions are divided. They are the northern antarctic Peninsula, the Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf, the Amundsen Sea coast, the Ross Ice Shelf, Mount Erebus, inland Southwest antarctica and the East antarctic coast,respectively. The results show that the fast uplift in the north antarctic Peninsula and Pine Island Bay regions may be caused by the elastic response to snow and ice mass loss. The fast subsidence near Mount Erebus may be related to the activity of a magma body. The uplift or subsidence near the East antarctic coast is very slow while the uplift for the rest regions is mainly caused by GIA. By analyzing the correlation and the associated weighted root mean square(WRMS) between the GIA predictions and the GPS velocities, we found that the ICE-6G_C(VM5a) model and the Geruo 13 model show the most consistency with our GPS results, while the W12a and IJ05_R2 series models show poor consistency with our GPS results. Although improved greatly in recent years, the GIA modeling in antarctica still lags behind the modeling of the North American. The energy of interaction between DNA strands in promoters is of great functional importance. Visualization of the energy of DNA strands distribution in promoter sequences was achieved. The separation of promoters in groups by their energetic properties enables evaluation of the dependence of promoter strength on the energetic properties. The analysis of groups (clusters) of promoters distributed by the energy of DNA strands interaction in ?55, ?35, ?10 and +6 sequences indicates their connection with the transcriptional activity.
