A Heuristic Sampling Method for Maintaining the Probability Distribution

Sampling is a fundamental method for generating data *** many data analysis methods are developed based on probability distributions,maintaining distributions when sampling can help to ensure good data analysis ***,sampling a minimum subset while maintaining probability distributions is still a *** this paper,we decompose a joint probability distribution into a product of conditional probabilities based on Bayesian networks and use the chi-square test to formulate a sampling problem that requires that the sampled subset pass the distribution test to ensure the ***,a heuristic sampling algorithm is proposed to generate the required subset by designing two scoring functions:one based on the chi-square test and the other based on likelihood *** on four types of datasets with a size of 60000 show that when the significant difference level,a,is set to 0.05,the algorithm can exclude 99.9%,99.0%,93.1%and 96.7%of the samples based on their Bayesian networks-ASIA,ALARM,HEPAR2,and ANDES,*** subsets of the same size are sampled,the subset generated by our algorithm passes all the distribution tests and the average distribution difference is approximately 0.03;by contrast,the subsets generated by random sampling pass only 83.8%of the tests,and the average distribution difference is approximately 0.24.

Spreadsheets contain a lot of valuable data and have many practical *** key technology of these practical applications is how to make machines understand the semantic structure of spreadsheets,e.g.,identifying cell function types and discovering relationships between cell *** existing methods for understanding the semantic structure of spreadsheets do not make use of the semantic information of cells.A few studies do,but they ignore the layout structure information of spreadsheets,which affects the performance of cell function classification and the discovery of different relationship types of cell *** this paper,we propose a Heuristic algorithm for Understanding the Semantic Structure of spreadsheets(HUSS).Specifically,for improving the cell function classification,we propose an error correction mechanism(ECM)based on an existing cell function classification model[11]and the layout features of *** improving the table structure analysis,we propose five types of heuristic rules to extract four different types of cell pairs,based on the cell style and spatial location *** experimental results on five real-world datasets demonstrate that HUSS can effectively understand the semantic structure of spreadsheets and outperforms corresponding baselines.

This article presents an in-depth exploration of the acoustofluidic capabilities of guided flexural waves(GFWs)generated by a membrane acoustic waveguide actuator(MAWA).By harnessing the potential of GFWs,cavity-agnostic advanced particle manipulation functions are achieved,unlocking new avenues for microfluidic systems and lab-on-a-chip *** localized acoustofluidic effects of GFWs arising from the evanescent nature of the acoustic fields they induce inside a liquid medium are numerically investigated to highlight their unique and promising *** traditional acoustofluidic technologies,the GFWs propagating on the MAWA’s membrane waveguide allow for cavity-agnostic particle manipulation,irrespective of the resonant properties of the fluidic ***,the acoustofluidic functions enabled by the device depend on the flexural mode populating the active region of the membrane *** demonstrations using two types of particles include in-sessile-droplet particle transport,mixing,and spatial separation based on particle diameter,along with streaming-induced counter-flow virtual channel generation in microfluidic PDMS *** experiments emphasize the versatility and potential applications of the MAWA as a microfluidic platform targeted at lab-on-a-chip development and showcase the MAWA’s compatibility with existing microfluidic systems.

Broad learning system based on the quantized minimum error entropy criterion

The broad learning system(BLS) based on the minimum mean square error(MMSE) criterion can achieve outstanding performance without spending too much time in various machine learning ***, when data are polluted by non-Gaussian noise, the stability of BLS may be destroyed because the MMSE criterion is sensitive to outliers. Different from the MMSE criterion, the minimum error entropy(MEE) criterion utilizes the kernel function to capture high-dimensional information and decrease the negative influence of outliers, which will make BLS more discriminative and robust. Nevertheless, the computational complexity of MEE is high due to a double summation of the data size. To solve these issues, this paper proposes a new robust BLS variant based on the quantized minimum error entropy(QMEE) criterion, in which a quantization operation is used to reduce the computational complexity of MEE. The proposed model BLS-QMEE is optimized by the fixed-point iterative method, and a sufficient condition for its convergence is provided. Compared with the standard BLS and other existing robust variants of BLS, BLS-QMEE performs more satisfactorily without consuming too much time. The desirable performance of BLS-QMEE is verified by various experiments on function approximation, several public datasets, and a practical application.

A disk I/O optimized system for concurrent graph processing jobs

In order to analyze and process the large graphs with high cost efficiency,researchers have developed a number of out-of-core graph processing systems in recent years based on just one commodity *** the other hand,with the rapidly growing need of analyzing graphs in the real-world,graph processing systems have to efficiently handle massive concurrent graph processing(CGP)***,due to the inherent design for single graph processing job,existing out-of-core graph processing systems usually incur unnecessary data accesses and severe competition of I/O bandwidth when handling the CGP *** this paper,we propose GraphCP,a disk I/O optimized out-of-core graph processing system that efficiently supports the processing of CGP *** proposes a benefit-aware sharing execution model to share the I/O access and processing of graph data among the CGP jobs and adaptively schedule the graph data loading based on the states of vertices,which efficiently overcomes above challenges faced by existing out-of-core graph processing ***,GraphCP adopts a dependency-based future-vertex updating model so as to reduce disk I/Os in the future *** addition,GraphCP organizes the graph data with a Source-Sorted Sub-Block graph representation for better processing capacity and I/O access *** evaluation results show that GraphCP is 20.5×and 8.9×faster than two out-of-core graph processing systems GridGraph and GraphZ,and 3.5×and 1.7×faster than two state-of-art concurrent graph processing systems Seraph and GraphSO.

Scalable Base-Station Model-Based Multicast in Wireless Sensor Networks

Multicast is essential for wireless sensor network （WSN） applications. Existing multicast protocols in WSNs are often designed in a P2P pattern, assuming small number of destination nodes and frequent changes in network topologies. In order to truly adopt multicast in WSNs, we propose a base-station model-based multicast, SenCast, to meet the general requirements of applications. SenCast is scalable and energy-efficient for large group communications in WSNs. Theoretical analysis shows that SenCast is able to approximate the Minimum Nonleaf Nodes （MNN） problem to a ratio of in IRI （R is the set of all destinations）, the best known lowest bound. We evaluate our design through comprehensive simulations and prototype implementations on Mica2 motes. Experimental results demonstrate that SenCast outperforms previous multicast protocols including the most recent work uCast.

A Linear Homomorphic Proxy Signature Scheme Based on Blockchain for Internet of Things

The mushroom growth of IoT has been accompanied by the generation of massive amounts of *** to the limited storage and computing capabilities ofmost IoT devices,a growing number of institutions and organizations outsource their data computing tasks to cloud servers to obtain efficient and accurate computation while avoiding the cost of local data *** of the most important challenges facing outsourcing computing is how to ensure the correctness of computation *** homomorphic proxy signature(LHPS)is a desirable solution to ensure the reliability of outsourcing computing in the case of authorized signing *** has the characteristics of tamper-proof and traceability,and is a new technology to solve data ***,as far as we know,constructions of LHPS have been few and far *** addition,the existing LHPS scheme does not focus on homomorphic unforgeability and does not use blockchain ***,we improve the security model of the LHPS scheme,and the usual existential forgery and homomorphic existential forgery of two types of adversaries are *** the new model,we present a blockchain-based LHPS *** security analysis shows that under the adaptive chosen message attack,the unforgeability of the proposed scheme can be reduced to the CDH hard assumption,while achieving the usual and homomorphic existential ***,comparedwith the previous LHPS scheme,the performance analysis shows that our scheme has the same key size and comparable computational overhead,but has higher security.
