Objective:English for Specific Purpose(ESP)is the essence for developing scientific research capacity,which is a core component for postgraduate education.The objective of this article is to develop a curriculum model for ESP of Master's level nursing education in a chinese medicine university.Method:A three-year action research approach with continuous reflection and modification was used to develop an ESP curriculum based on the RICH model.A total of 78 students of Master's Science in Nursing enrolled in 2016-2018 and three course teachers in Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine participated in the study.The ESP curriculum based on the RICH model involved research-based learning topics(R),integrated curriculum(Ⅰ),cooperative learning methods(C),and humanistic outcome(H).Results:The passing rate of the students was 100%,the excellent rate was 79.5%,with an average score of 83.16±3.43.All students were satisfied with the ESP course design and acknowledged the process of"growing up under the pressure".Four students have published five articles in the journals included by Science Citation Index(SCI).Conclusions:The study exerted a positive effect on the ESP teaching and learning and provided new ideas for the ESP curriculum integration of Master's Science in Nursing in China.

Objective:To investigate the effect of Huangqin Decoction(HQD)on nuclear factor erythroid 2 related-factor 2(Nrf2)/heme oxygenase(HO-1)signaling pathway by inducing the colitis-associated carcinogenesis(CAC)model mice with azoxymethane(AOM)/dextran sodium sulfate(DSS).Methods:The chemical components of HQD were analyzed by liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry(LC-Q-TOF-MS/MS)to determine the molecular constituents of HQD.Totally 48 C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into 6 groups by a random number table,including control,model(AOM/DSS),mesalazine(MS),low-,medium-,and high-dose HQD(HQD-L,HQD-M,and HQD-H)groups,8 mice in each group.Except for the control group,the mice in the other groups were intraperitoneally injected with AOM(10 mg/kg)and administrated with 2.5%DSS orally for 1 week every two weeks(totally 3 rounds of DSS)to construct a colitis-associated carcinogenesis mouse model.The mice in the HQD-L,HQD-M and HQD-H groups were given HQD by gavage at doses of 2.925,5.85,and 11.7 g/kg,respectively;the mice in the MS group was given a suspension of MS at a dose of 0.043 g/kg(totally 11 weeks).The serum levels of malondialdehyde(MDA)and superoxide dismutase(SOD)were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.The mRNA and protein expression levels of Nrf2,HO-1,and inhibitory KELCH like ECH-related protein 1(Keap1)in colon tissue were detected by quantitative real-time PCR,immunohistochemistry,and Westem blot,respectively.Results:LC-Q-TOF-MS/MS analysis revealed that the chemical constituents of HQD include baicalin,paeoniflorin,and glycyrrhizic acid.Compared to the control group,significantly higher MDA levels and lower SOD levels were observed in the model group(P<0.05),whereas the expressions of Nrf2 and HO-1 were significantly decreased,and the expression of Keap1 increased(P<0.01).Compared with the model group,serum MDA level was decreased and SOD level was increased in the HQD-M,HQD-H and MS groups(P<0.05).Higher expressions of Nrf2 and HO-1 were observed in the HQD groups.Co

Postoperative adhesion(PA)is currently one of the most unpleasant complications following surgical procedures.Researchers have developed several new strategies to alleviate the formation of PA to a great extent,but so far,no single measure or treatment can meet the expectations and requirements of clinical patients needing complete PA prevention.chinese medicine(CM)has been widely used for thousands of years based on its remarkable efficacy and indispensable advantages CM treatments are gradually being accepted by modern medicine.Therefore,this review summarizes the formating process of PA and the efficacy and action mechanism of CM treatments,including their pharmacological effects,therapeutic mechanisms and advantages in PA prevention.We aim to improve the understanding of clinicians and researchers on CM prevention in the development of PA and promote the in-depth development and industrialization process of related drugs.

Due to its complex pathogenesis and lack of effective therapeutic methods,Alzheimer's disease(AD)has become a severe public health problem worldwide.Recent studies have discovered the function of central nervous system lymphatic drainage,which provides a new strategy for the treatment of AD.chinese herbal medicine(CHM)has been considered as a cure for AD for hundreds of years in China,and its effect on scavengingβ-amyloid protein in the brain of AD patients has been confirmed.In this review,the mechanism of central nervous system lymphatic drainage and the regulatory functions of CHM on correlation factors were briefly summarized.The advances in our understanding regarding the treatment of AD via regulating the central lymphatic system with CHM will promote the clinical application of CHM in AD patients and the discovery of new therapeutic drugs.

OBJECTIVE:To explore the novel biomarkers and therapeutic target candidates related to the stasis-heat syndrome of acute intracerebral hemorrhage(AICH).METHODS:Applying an isobaric tagging for relative and absolute quantitation-(i TRAQ-)based quantitative proteomic approach,plasma samples from AICH patients with stasis-heat,and AICH patients with non-stasis-heat and healthy control subjects were collected and analyzed to distinguish differentially expressed proteins(DEPs)correlated to AICH with stasis-heat in this block design.The standard Western blot was applied to verify DEPs.Additionally,DEPs were analyzed via bioinformatic platforms and further approved via Ingenuity Pathway Analysis(IPA).RESULTS:A total of 26 DEPs were found among AICH with the stasis-heat,AICH with non-stasis-heat,and healthy control group.The seven DEPs compared with the non-stasis-heat group are closely related to the pathogenesis of stasis heat.These proteins showed three different protein expression patterns.The alpha-1-b glycoprotein(A1 BG)and copper-protein(CP)were upregulated in the stasis-heat group,but down-regulated in the non-stasis-heat group.Compared with the non-stasisheat group,the expression abundance of actinin,alpha 1(ACTN1),carbonic anhydrase I(CA1),peroxiredoxin 2(PRDX2),and vinculin(VCL)is higher in the stasis-heat group,while the CD44 is the opposite.These differences reflect that stasis-heat syndrome has more severe inflammatory immune response,coagulation disorders and damage.Bioinformatics analysis revealed that a wide variety of cellular and metabolic processes and some signaling pathways were involved in the pathophysiology of AICH with stasis-heat.AICH with stasis-heat syndrome showed more severe inflammatory reactions,tissue damage,and coagulation disorders than non-stasis heat syndrome.CONCLUSIONS:There are differences in the protein expression patterns between the stasis-heat syndrome and non-stasis-heat syndrome.These differences reflect that stasis-heat syndrome has more severe damage.CD44,CP,ACTN1,CA1,VCL,

OBJECTIVE:To explore the effect of acupuncture treatment on cerebral ischaemia-reperfusion injury(CIRI)and reveal the underlying mechanism of the effect based on nuclear receptor coactivator 4(NCOA4)mediated ferritinophagy.METHODS:Sprague-Dawley male rats were divided into four groups:the sham group,model group,acupuncture group,and sham acupuncture group.After 2 h of middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO),reperfusion was performed for 24 h to induce CIRI.The rats were treated with acupuncture at the Neiguan(PC6)and Shuigou(GV26)acupoints.Their neurological function was evaluated by taking their Bederson scores at 2 h after ischaemia and 24 h after reperfusion.Triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining was applied to assess the cerebral infarct volume at 24 h after reperfusion.The malondialdehyde(MDA)and ferrous iron(Fe^(2+))levels were observed after 24 h of reperfusion using an assay kit.Western blotting was performed to detect the expression of NCOA4 and ferritin heavy chain 1(FTH1)at 24 h after reperfusion.Moreover,the colocalization of ferritin with neurons,NCOA4 with microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3(LC3),and NCOA4 with ferritin was visualized using immunofluorescence staining.RESULTS:Acupuncture significantly improved neurological function and decreased cerebral infarct volume in the acupuncture group.Following CIRI,the expression of NCOA4,LC3 and FTH1 was increased,which enhanced ferritinophagy and induced an inappropriate accumulation of Fe^(2+)and MDA in the ischaemic brain.However,acupuncture dramatically downregulated the expression of NCOA4,LC3 and FTH1,inhibited the overactivation of ferritinophagy,and decreased the levels of MDA and Fe^(2+).CONCLUSIONS:Acupuncture can inhibit NCOA4-mediated ferritinophagy and protect neurons against CIRI in a rat model.

Senescence of activated hepatic stellate cells(aHSCs) is a stable growth arrest that is implicated in liver fibrosis regression.Senescent cells often accompanied by a multi-faceted senescence-associated secretory phenotype(SASP).But little is known about how alanine-serine-cysteine transporter type-2(ASCT2),a high affinity glutamine transporter,affects HSC senescence and SASP during liver fibrosis.Here,we identified ASCT2 is mainly elevated in aHSCs and positively correlated with liver fibrosis in human and mouse fibrotic livers.We first discovered ASCT2 inhibition induced HSCs to senescence in vitro and in vivo.The proinflammatory SASP were restricted by ASCT2 inhibition at senescence initiation to prevent paracrine migration.Mechanically,ASCT2 was a direct target of glutaminolysisdependent proinflammatory SASP,interfering IL-1α/NF-κB feedback loop via interacting with precursor IL-1α at Lys82.From a translational perspective,atractylenolide Ⅲ is identified as ASCT2 inhibitor through directly bound to Asn230 of ASCT2.The presence of -OH group in atractylenolide Ⅲ is suggested to be favorable for the inhibition of ASCT2.Importantly,atractylenolide Ⅲ could be utilized to treat liver fibrosis mice.Taken together,ASCT2 controlled HSC senescence while modifying the proinflammatory SASP.Targeting ASCT2 by atractylenolide Ⅲ could be a therapeutic candidate for liver fibrosis.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of moxibustion on synovitis and the autophagy of synoviocytes in rheumatoid arthritis(RA).METHODS:Forty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into a normal group,model group,moxibustion group,cigarette moxibustion group,and medicine group,with eight rats included in each group.The RA model was established by subcutaneous injection of complete Freund's adjuvant into the left posterior toe.Rats in the model group were not interfered with.In the moxibustion group,rats were treated by moxibustion,where a 1-cm diameter moxa stick was applied at the left Zusanli(ST 36)point.The distance of the moxa stick to the skin was 2 cm and moxibustion was completed for 20 min daily for 15 d total.In the cigarette moxibustion group,the moxa stick was replaced by a common cigarette.In the medicine group,rats were treated with a tripterygium glycoside suspension(8 mg/kg)once a day for 15 d total.In each group,the left hind limb toe volume was measured with a toe volume meter;the synovial cells were observed by hematoxylin and eosin staining;the interleukin(IL)-4,IL-6,IL-10,IL-1β,IL-23,IL-17,and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-αlevels in serum were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay;the erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)were detected by Westergren sedimentation rate testing;the C-reactive protein(CRP)and rheumatoid factor(RF)levels in serum were detected by rate nephelometry;the expression levels of ULK1,autophagy-associated protein(Atg)3,Atg5,and Atg12 messenger RNA(m RNA)in synovium were detected by real time-quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-q PCR);and the protein expression levels of phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase(PI3K),protein kinase B(Akt),mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR),LC3-Ⅱ,beclin-1,phosphorylated-PI3K(p-PI3K),p-Akt,p-mTOR in synovium were detected by Western blotting.RESULTS:Among the RA model rats,joint swelling,an inflammatory reaction,and the proliferation of synovial tissue were obvious and the signal of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway was active,while autophagy was in

Objective:Moxibustion,a common therapy in traditional chinese medicine,has potential benefits for treating decreased ovarian reserve(DOR).The present study investigates the protective effect of moxibustion in a rat model of DOR and explores the possible mechanisms.Methods:Sixty-four female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups:control,DOR,moxibustion(MOX),and hormone replacement therapy(HRT).The DOR rat model was established by intragastric administration of 50 mg/kg Tripterygium glycoside suspension(TGS),once daily for 14 days.MOX and HRT treatments were given from the day TGS administration was initiated.The ovarian reserve function was evaluated by monitoring the estrus cycle,morphological changes in ovaries,levels of serum estradiol(E2),follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH),luteinizing hormone(LH),and anti-Mullerian hormone(AMH),pregnancy rate and embryo numbers.Terminal-deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated nickend-labeling staining was used to identify ovarian granulosa cell apoptosis,while the protein and m RNA expressions of Bax,B-cell lymphoma-2(Bcl-2),phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3 K)and protein kinase B(AKT)in ovarian tissues were examined by immunohistochemistry,Western blot and quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction.Results:Compared with the DOR group,MOX improved the disordered estrous cycle,promoted follicular growth,reduced the number of atresia follicles,increased the concentrations of serum E2 and AMH,and decreased serum FSH and LH concentrations.More importantly,the pregnancy rate and embryo numbers in DOR rats were both upregulated in the MOX treatment group,compared to the untreated DOR model.Further,we found that the MOX group had reduced apoptosis of ovarian granulosa cells,increased Bcl-2 expression and reduced expression of Bax.Furthermore,the PI3 K/AKT signaling pathway was triggered by the moxibustion treatment.Conclusion:Moxibustion improved ovarian function and suppressed apoptosis of ovarian granulosa cells in a rat model of DOR induced by TG

Objective:To examine the therapeutic effect of Fangji Fuling Decoction(FFD) on sepsis through network pharmacological analysis combined with in vitro and in vivo experiments.Methods:A sepsis mouse model was constructed through intraperitoneal injection of 20 mg/kg lipopolysaccharide(LPS).RAW264.7 cells were stimulated by 250 ng/m L LPS to establish an in vitro cell model.Network pharmacology analysis identified the key molecular pathway associated with FFD in sepsis.Through ectopic expression and depletion experiments,the effect of FFD on multiple organ damage in septic mice,as well as on cell proliferation and apoptosis in relation to the mitogen-activated protein kinase 14/Forkhead Box O 3A(MAPK14/FOXO3A) signaling pathway,was analyzed.Results:FFD reduced organ damage and inflammation in LPS-induced septic mice and suppressed LPS-induced macrophage apoptosis and inflammation in vitro(P<0.05).Network pharmacology analysis showed that FFD could regulate the MAPK14/FOXO signaling pathway during sepsis.As confirmed by in vitro cell experiments,FFD inhibited the MAPK14 signaling pathway or FOXO3A expression to relieve LPS-induced macrophage apoptosis and inflammation(P<0.05).Furthermore,FFD inhibited the MAPK14/FOXO3A signaling pathway to inhibit LPS-induced macrophage apoptosis in the lung tissue of septic mice(P<0.05).Conclusion:FFD could ameliorate the LPS-induced inflammatory response in septic mice by inhibiting the MAPK14/FOXO3A signaling pathway.
