coal-fired power plant is a major contributor to greenhouse gas *** post-combustion capture is a promising method for co_(2)emission reduction but the high thermal demand is *** address this issue,solar thermal energy and co_(2)capture are jointly integrated into the coal-fired power plant in this *** solar thermal energy is employed to meet the heat requirement of the co_(2)capture process,thereby avoiding the electricity loss caused by self-driven co_(2)***,the heat released from the carbonation reaction of MgO adsorbent is integrated into the steam Rankine *** partially substituting the extracted steam for feedwater heating,the electricity output of the power plant is further *** to the results from the developed model,the system could achieve a co_(2)capture rate of 86.5%and an electricity output enhancement of 9.8%compared to the reference system,which consists of a self-driven co_(2)capture coal-fired power plant and PV generation *** operational strategy is also optimized and the amount of co_(2)emission reduction on a typical day is increased by 11.06%.This work shows a way to combine fossil fuels and renewable energy for low carbon emissions and efficient power generation.

Numerical simulation of transient characteristics in a bulb turbine during the load rejection process

To evaluate the safety of the bulb tubular turbine,the dynamic hydraulic characteristics of a hydropower station system during the load rejection process are studied through numerical simulations and a prototype *** the developed model,a dynamic grid technology(DGT)controls the closure of the guide vane and the blade,whilst the moment balance equation and the user-defined function(UDF)provide the runner’s rotation *** 3-D transient simulation method can well predict the rotation speed and mass flow curves in the state of load *** simulation outcomes of the system performance are basically consistent with the measurement data of the *** observed,the runner is subjected to the reversely increased torque and axial force,the system is in a braking phase,and the maximum speed peaks at 144.6%of the rated ***,the internal flow of the runner is greatly affected by the closure of the guide vane,and the draft tube forms an eccentric spiral vortex *** breaks downstream,aggravating the instability of the draft ***,the transient characteristics span for the first five seconds,demonstrating the importance of establishing an efficient governing *** obtained results are useful for designing the turbine’s flow channel with a double regulating function and comprehending the turbine’s transient characteristics.

Flexible Load Participation in Peaking Shaving and Valley Filling Based on Dynamic Price Incentives

considering the widening of the peak-valley difference in the power grid and the difficulty of the existing fixed time-of-use electricity price mechanism in meeting the energy demand of heterogeneous users at various moments or motivating users,the design of a reasonable dynamic pricing mechanism to actively engage users in demand response becomes imperative for power grid *** this purpose,a power grid-flexible load bilevel model is constructed based on dynamic pricing,where the leader is the dispatching center and the lower-level flexible load acts as the ***,an upper-level day-ahead dispatching model for the power grid is established,considering the lowest power grid dispatching cost as the objective function and incorporating the power grid-side ***,the lower level comprehensively considers the load characteristics of industrial load,energy storage,and data centers,and then establishes a lower-level flexible load operation model with the lowest user power-consuming cost as the objective ***,the proposed method is validated using the IEEE-118 system,and the findings indicate that the dynamic pricing mechanism for peaking shaving and valley filling can effectively guide users to respond actively,thereby reducing the peak-valley difference and decreasing users’purchasing costs.

Currently, the electrochemical co_(2) reduction reaction (co_(2) RR) can realize the resource conversion of co_(2) , which is a promising approach to carbon resource use. Important advancements have been made in exploring the co_(2) RR performance and mechanism because of the rational design of electrolyzer systems, such as H-cells, flow cells, and catalysts. considering the future development direction of this technology and large-scale application needs, membrane electrode assembly (MEA) systems can improve energy use efficiency and achieve large-scale co_(2) conversion, which is considered the most promising technology for industrial applications. This review will concentrate on the research progress and present situation of the MEA component structure. This paper begins with the composition and construction of a gas diff usion electrode. Then, the application of ion-exchange membranes in MEA is introduced. Furthermore, the eff ects of pH and the anion and cation of the anolyte on MEA performance are explored. Additionally, we present the anode reaction type in MEA. Finally, the challenges in this field are summarized, and upcoming trends are projected. This review should offer researchers a clearer picture of MEA systems and provide important, timely, and valuable insights into rational electrolyzer design to facilitate further development of co_(2) electrochemical reduction.

Regression Method for Rail Fastener Tightness Based on Center-Line Projection Distance Feature and Neural Network

In the railway system,fasteners have the functions of damping,maintaining the track distance,and adjusting the track ***,routine maintenance and inspection of fasteners are important to ensure the safe operation of track ***,assessment methods for fastener tightness include manual observation,acoustic wave detection,and image *** are limitations such as low accuracy and efficiency,easy interference and misjudgment,and a lack of accurate,stable,and fast detection *** at the small deformation characteristics and large elastic change of fasteners from full loosening to full tightening,this study proposes high-precision surface-structured light technology for fastener detection and fastener deformation feature extraction based on the center-line projection distance and a fastener tightness regression method based on neural ***,the method uses a 3D camera to obtain a fastener point cloud and then segments the elastic rod area based on the iterative closest point algorithm *** component analysis is used to calculate the normal vector of the segmented elastic rod surface and extract the point on the centerline of the elastic *** point is projected onto the upper surface of the bolt to calculate the projection ***,the mapping relationship between the projection distance sequence and fastener tightness is established,and the influence of each parameter on the fastener tightness prediction is ***,by setting up a fastener detection scene in the track experimental base,collecting data,and completing the algorithm verification,the results showed that the deviation between the fastener tightness regression value obtained after the algorithm processing and the actual measured value RMSE was 0.2196 mm,which significantly improved the effect compared with other tightness detection methods,and realized an effective fastener tightness regression.

The traditional automotive catalytic converter using commercial ceramic honeycomb carriers has many problems such as high back pressure,low engine efficiency,and high usage of precious *** study proposes a four-channel catalytic micro-reactor based on alumina hollow fiber membrane,which uses phase inversion method for structural molding and *** to the advantages of its carrier,it can achieve lower ignition temperature under low noble metal *** Pd/CeO_(2) at a loading rate of 2.3%(mass),the result showed that the reaction ignition temperature is even less than 160℃,which is more than 90℃ lower than the data of commercial ceramic substrates under similar catalyst loading and airspeed *** technology in turn significantly reduces the energy consumption of the *** stability tests were conducted under constant conditions for 1000 h,which proved that this catalytic converter has high catalytic efficiency and stability,providing prospects for the design of innovative catalytic converters in the future.

Experimental investigation on the gravity driven discharge of cohesive particles from a silo with two outlets

An experimental study on the gravity driven discharge of cohesive particles from a silo with two outlets was *** discharge behaviors under the conditions that a single outlet was open and two outlets were open were investigated by varying the moisture content of the particles and the filling height of the particles in the *** results show that the discharge rate of the cohesive particles increases gradually at the beginning,then almost keeps constant,and finally drops *** discharge rate in case of two openings is around 1.1–1.6 times that in case of a single *** filling height leads to lower discharge rate in case of a single opening but results in higher discharge rate in case of two ***,the avalanche dynamics in case of a single opening was examined,and the mixing behavior of the cohesive particles was *** is observed that the discharge flow is promoted by the avalanche phenomenon in the silo,generating a general trend that the normalized mass of discharge increases with the filling height at higher moisture *** case of a single opening,the transition from mass flow to funnel flow favors the particle mixing,resulting in an increasing mixing index as the moisture content *** general,a better performance of mixing can be achieved in case of a single opening compared with in case of two *** study provides vital information for fundamental understanding of the gravity driven discharge of cohesive particles from the silo with multiple outlets.

Rapid and stable calcium-looping solar thermochemical energy storage via co-doping binary sulfate and Al±Mn±Fe oxides

Solar thermochemical energy storage based on calcium looping（CaL） process is a promising technology for next-generation concentrated solar power（CSP） systems. However, conventional calcium carbonate（Caco3） pellets suffer from slow reaction kinetics, poor stability, and low solar absorptance. Here, we successfully realized high power density and highly stable solar thermochemical energy storage/release by synergistically accelerating energy storage/release via binary sulfate and promoting cycle stability, mechanical strength, and solar absorptance via Al±Mn±Fe oxides. The energy storage density of proposed Caco3pellets is still as high as 1455 kJ kg-1with only a slight decay rate of 4.91% over 100 cycles, which is higher than that of state-of-the-art pellets in the literature, in stark contrast to 69.9% of pure Caco3pellets over 35cycles. compared with pure Caco3, the energy storage power density or decomposition rate is improved by 120% due to lower activation energy and promotion of Ca2+diffusion by binary sulfate. The energy release or carbonation rate rises by 10% because of high O2-transport ability of molten binary sulfate. Benefiting from fast energy storage/release rate and high solar absorptance, thermochemical energy storage efficiency is enhanced by more than 50% under direct solar irradiation. This work paves the way for application of direct solar thermochemical energy storage techniques via achieving fast energy storage/release rate, high energy density, good cyclic stability, and high solar absorptance simultaneously.

The tail risk safe haven property of China's energy futures against US market implied volatility

This paper analyses the tail risk contagion of US market implied volatility(USIV)on China's energy futures(CEF)markets,exploring how to utilize operations in the CEF to achieve a safe *** CEF characteristics to simultaneously take both long-/short-positions and engage in long-/short-run investment horizons,this paper defines eight different CEF safe haven attributes to counteract the tail risk of extreme increases in *** trading data from March 27,2018,to October 30,2023,the empirical results show that,first,in the analysis of the entire sample period,China's coking coal futures can serve as a weak safe haven,aiding long-position investors in mitigating the tail risks associated with US gold and stock market implied *** coal futures also assist short-position investors in countering US stock market implied volatility tail ***,in the sub-period analysis,the safe haven attributes of CEF exhibit strong heterogeneity and asymmetry across different ***,the time span during which CEF exhibits a particular safe haven attribute does not persist for an extended period.

A fibrous hydroelectric generator derived from eco-friendly sodium alginate for low-grade energy harvesting

With the development of renewable energy technologies,the recovery and utilization of low-grade energy based on hydroelectric effect have drawn much attention owing to its environmental ***,a novel hydroelectric generator utilizing sodium alginategraphene oxide(SA-GO)fibers is proposed,which is ecofriendly and *** fibers with a length of 5 cm and a diameter of 0.15 mm can generate an open circuit voltage(Voc)of approximately 0.25 V and a short circuit current(Isc)of 4µ*** connecting SA-GO fibers in either series or parallel,this combination can power some electronic ***,these fibers enable the recovery of low-grade energy from the atmosphere or around the human *** experimental and theoretical analysis confirm that the directional flow of protons driven by water molecules is the main mechanism for power generation of SA-GO *** study not only presents a simple energy transformation method that is expected to be applied to our daily life,but also provides a novel idea for the design of humidity electricity-generation devices.
