Multi-scale discrepancy adversarial network for cross-corpus speech emotion recognition

Background One of the most critical issues in human-computer interaction applications is recognizing human emotions based on *** recent years,the challenging problem of cross-corpus speech emotion recognition(SER)has generated extensive ***,the domain discrepancy between training data and testing data remains a major challenge to achieving improved system *** This paper introduces a novel multi-scale discrepancy adversarial(MSDA)network for conducting multiple timescales domain adaptation for cross-corpus SER,i.e.,integrating domain discriminators of hierarchical levels into the emotion recognition framework to mitigate the gap between the source and target ***,we extract two kinds of speech features,i.e.,handcraft features and deep features,from three timescales of global,local,and hybrid *** each timescale,the domain discriminator and the feature extrator compete against each other to learn features that minimize the discrepancy between the two domains by fooling the *** Extensive experiments on cross-corpus and cross-language SER were conducted on a combination dataset that combines one Chinese dataset and two English datasets commonly used in *** MSDA is affected by the strong discriminate power provided by the adversarial process,where three discriminators are working in tandem with an emotion ***,the MSDA achieves the best performance over all other baseline *** The proposed architecture was tested on a combination of one Chinese and two English *** experimental results demonstrate the superiority of our powerful discriminative model for solving cross-corpus SER.

Identification of Ebola virus microRNAs and their putative pathological function

Ebola virus(EBOV),a member of the filovirus family,is an enveloped negative-sense RNA virus that causes lethal infections in humans and ***,more than 1000 people have been killed by the Ebola virus disease in Africa,yet no specific treatment or diagnostic tests for EBOV are *** this study,we identified two putative viral microRNA precursors(pre-miRNAs)and three putative mature microRNAs(miRNAs)derived from the EBOV *** production of the EBOV miRNAs was further validated in HEK293T cells transfected with a pcDNA6.2-GW/EmGFP-EBOV-pre-miRNA plasmid,indicating that EBOV miRNAs can be produced through the cellular miRNA processing *** also predicted the potential target genes of these EBOV miRNAs and their possible biological ***,this study reports for the first time that EBOV may produce miRNAs,which could serve as non-invasive biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of EBOV infection and as therapeutic targets for Ebola viral infection treatment.

A high-strength self-healing nano-silica hydrogel with anisotropic differential conductivity

Soft nano electronic materials based on conductive hydrogels have attracted considerable attention due to their exceptional *** deposition and poor interface compatibility often diminish the mechanical strength and electron transport capabilities of the conductive *** damage can severely impact the performance of the conductive hydrogel and can even damage electronic devices based on the conductive *** the current study,a transparent nano-silica hydrogel is prepared by employing an extremely easy-to-operate *** approach can preclude the deposition of particles via strong mechanical *** addition,controlling the concentration of the reaction interface makes the hydrogel grow along the mechanical force in the direction with a special directional hole structure *** hydrogel is transparent,showing excellent self-healing properties—it can self-heal within 15 ***,the hydrogel after self-healing maintains its ***,it has excellent mechanical properties and can be stretched in *** to 1,200%of the original length,the tensile strength of the gel spline can reach 7 *** viscosity of the hydrogel can reach 1.67×10^(8)(MPs).In addition,a large amount of Na+in this hydrogel endow it a conductivity of 389 ps/*** conductivity of this hydrogel is adjustable result from the special pore ***,the difference between the horizontal and vertical conductivity of the same sample can reach 3-4 times,thus this hydrogel can be used in the field of nano conductive materials.

In this work,an 8×8 Ga_(2)O_(3)solar-blind ultraviolet photodetector array is introduced for image sensing *** 2-in wafer-scaled Ga_(2)O_(3)thin film was grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition technique;and the photodetector array was fabricated through ultraviolet photolithography,lift-off,and electron-beam *** addition to the high solar-blind/visible rejection ratio of 104,every photodetector cell in the array has high performance and fast response speed,such as responsivity of 49.4 A W^(-1),specific detectivity of 6.8×10^(14)Jones,external quantum efficiency of 1.9×10^(4)%,linear dynamic range of 117.8 d B,and response time of 41 ms,respectively,indicating the high photo-response performance of the ***,the photodetector array displayed uniform responsivity with a standard deviation of~6%,and presented a sensing image of low chromatic aberration,owing to the high resolution of the photodetector *** a word,this work may contribute to developing Ga_(2)O_(3)-based optoelectronic device applications.

As researchers globally work towards a fully digital representation of the earth and its processes-i.e.a true Digital Earth-the need grows for software and systems to link disparate computer simulation models of various parts of the earth in a reliable and highly functional *** services have been demonstrated as an effective way to share and reuse models as they enable communication and interoperation among applications via the ***,even using well-designed software tools,it remains a daunting process to publish heterogeneous environmental models as web services and provide long-term maintenance in response to changing computational *** present an approach that enables environmental models to be published as long-term functional web services on the same platform regardless of execution mode,programming language,and computational environment *** approach adopts the OpenGMS Wrapper System(OGMS-WS)for service publishing and Docker containers for model isolation.A streamflow prediction service is developed using this approach and is applied to analyze historical streamflow trends in *** demonstrate that this approach can lower the barrier to deploying heterogeneous environmental models as long-term functional web services,contributing to the development of a Digital Earth.

Multiple off-axis acoustic vortices generated by dual coaxial vortex beams

As a kind of special acoustic field, the helical wavefront of an acoustic vortex（AV） beam is demonstrated to have a pressure zero with phase singularity at the center in the transverse plane. The orbital angular momentum of AVs can be applied to the field of particle manipulation, which attracts more and more attention in acoustic researches. In this paper,by using the simplified circular array of point sources, dual coaxial AV beams are excited by the even-and odd-numbered sources with the topological charges of l_E and l_O based on the phase-coded approach, and the composite acoustic field with an on-axis center-AV and multiple off-axis sub-AVs can be generated by the superimposition of the AV beams for｜l_E｜ ≠ ｜l_O｜. The generation of edge phase dislocation is theoretically derived and numerically analyzed for l_E=-l_O. The numbers and the topological charges as well as the locations of the center-AV and sub-AVs are demonstrated, which are proved to be determined by the topological charges of the coaxial AV beams. The proposed approach breaks through the limit of only one on-axis AV with a single topological charge along the beam axis, and also provides the feasibility of off-axis particle trapping with multiple AVs in object manipulation.

Temperature-dependent interlayer exchange coupling strength in synthetic antiferromagnetic [Pt/Co]_2/Ru/[Co/Pt]_4 multilayers

In this work, we experimentally investigated the thermal stability of the interlayer exchange coupling field(Hex) and strength(-Jiec) in synthetic antiferromagnetic(SAF) structure of [Pt(0.6)/Co(0.6)]2/Ru(tRu)/[Co(0.6)/Pt(0.6)]4multilayers with perpendicular anisotropy. Depending on the thickness of the spacing ruthenium(Ru) layer, the observed interlayer exchange coupling can be either ferromagnetic or antiferromagnetic. The Hexwere studied by measuring the magnetization hysteresis loops in the temperature range from 100 K to 700 K as well as the theoretical calculation of the-Jiec. It is found that the interlayer coupling in the multilayers is very sensitive to the thickness of Ru and temperature. The Hexexhibits either a linear or a non-linear dependence on the temperature for different thickness of Ru. Furthermore, our SAF multilayers show a high thermal stability even up to 600 K(Hex= 3.19 kOe,-Jiec= 1.97 erg/cm~2 for tRu=0.6 nm, the unit 1 Oe = 79.5775 A·m-1), which was higher than the previous studies.

Symmetry properties of fluctuations in an actively driven rotor

We investigate rotational dynamics of an actively driven rotor through experiments and numerical simulations. While probability density distributions of rotor angular velocity are strongly non-Gaussian, relative probabilities of observing rotation in opposite directions are shown to be linearly related to the angular velocity magnitude. We construct a stochastic model to describe transitions between different states from rotor angular velocity data and use the stochastic model to show that symmetry properties in probability density distributions are related to the detailed fluctuation relation(FR) of entropy productions.
