冰川覆盖了地球表面的10%,是典型的极端环境.病毒在冰川表面生态系统中丰富且活跃,在控制微生物群落中发挥关键作用.然而,我们对冰川表面生态系统病毒及其对下游生态系统的潜在影响了解非常有限.本研究构建了冰川表面生态系统DNA病毒基因组数据集(SgVG),将已有冰川DNA病毒基因组数量扩展了15倍.数据集包含了来自全球38个山地和极地冰川,涵盖雪、冰、融水和冰尘的10,840个DNA病毒物种.冰川表面DNA病毒特异性高,但对公众健康的潜在风险极低.冰川表面病毒群落结构主要受生境影响,且冰尘病毒最为活跃.裂解性病毒在所有生境中普遍存在,而雪和冰中溶源性病毒的相对比例较高.此外,冰川表面病毒可侵染冰川中83%的门或纲的原核微生物,并且能够编码具有促进宿主代谢和协助宿主适应寒冷环境等功能的多种辅助代谢基因.本研究系统地描述了山地和极地冰川表面生态系统DNA病毒的多样性和功能,为评估冰川DNA病毒的生态功能、安全风险及构建区域生态模型提供了重要科学依据.

Intensity variations of the SE-NW-oriented tropical cyclones(TC)in the East China Sea(ECS)passing over the Kuroshio are studied using multi-year high-resolution sea surface temperature data,the tropical cyclone data,and the global reanalysis *** statistical results show that there are 81 TCs passing over the Kuroshio from the southeast in the East China Sea,over 68 years from 1949 to *** terms of the change of the atmospheric pressure in the center of the TC,there are three categories:31 TCs are intensified,28 maintain their intensities,and 22 *** seasonal differences are presented in the *** the analysis on the intensified TCs,it is found that the TCs in the range where the center translational speed is from 1 m/s to 8 m/s and the distance from the Kuroshio main axis is from 10 km to 75 km are intensified more *** analysis of three specific examples of TCs show that the stronger characteristics of the Kuroshio warm water in the ECS,the greater the intensity increase of such tropical cyclones.

Widespread soil acidification due to atmospheric acid deposition and agricultural fertilization may greatly accelerate soil carbonate dissolution and ***,to date,few studies have addressed these ***,we use meta-analysis and nationwide-survey datasets to investigate changes in soil inorganic carbon(SIC) stocks in *** observe an overall decrease in SIC stocks in topsoil(0-30 cm)(11.33 g C m-2yr-1) from the 1980 s to the 2010 *** SIC stocks have decreased by～8.99±2.24%(1.37±0.37 Pg C).The average SIC losses across China(0.046 Pg C yr-1) and in cropland(0.016 Pg C yr-1) account for～17.6%-24.0% of the terrestrial C sink and 57.1% of the soil organic carbon sink in cropland,*** deposition and climate change have profound influences on SIC *** estimate that～19.12%-19.47% of SIC stocks will be further lost by *** consumption of SIC may offset a large portion of global efforts aimed at ecosystem carbon sequestration,which emphasizes the importance of achieving a better understanding of the indirect coupling mechanisms of nitrogen and carbon cycling and of effective countermeasures to minimize SIC loss.

This paper attempts to analyze in detail the remote influence of the Indian Ocean Basin warming on the Northwest Pacific(NWP) during the year of decaying El Ni *** data and the Fast Ocean- Atmosphere coupled Model 1.5 were used to investigate the triggering conditions under which the remote influence is formed between the positive sea surface temperature(SST) anomaly in the North Indian Ocean and the Anomalous Northwest Pacific anticyclone(ANWPA).Our research show that it is only when there is a contributory background wind field over the Indian Ocean,i.e.,when the Indian Summer Monsoon(ISM) reaches its peak,that the warmer SST anomaly in the North Indian Ocean incites significant easterly wind anomalies in the lower atmosphere of the Indo-West tropical *** then produces the remote influence on the ***,the SST anomaly in the North Indian Ocean might interfere with the prediction of the East Asia Summer Monsoon in the year of decaying El Ni *** the sustaining effect of local negative SST anomalies in the NWP,and the remote effect of positive SST anomalies in the North Indian Ocean on the ANWPA,should be considered in further research.

This study presents a record of late Holocene environmental change from the South Wellesley Islands in tropical northern Australia. Fossil pollen records from coastal wetlands explored the relationship between humans and the environment, and results from this study provided an environmental context for archaeological research. Archaeological research in the South Wellesley Islands found human occupation occurred only in the last 1,500 years, with sites increasing significantly in the last 700 years. Pollen records found initial changes in the vegetation across the island were driven by late Holocene sea-level regression and coastal progradation, as mangroves transitioning to woodland and wetland communities in the last 850 years. Macroscopic and microscopic charcoal complements the palynological research by identifying the spatial and temporal variation in fire regimes across the island. Results indicate low intensity fires characterised the early human occupation phase. Local and regional fires increased significantly around AD 1950 when Indigenous fire practices were disrupted and the South Wellesley Islands abandoned. In tropical northern Australia many plants are adapted to fire, however the palynological research found only small vegetation changes occurred as fire significantly increased. This study highlights the importance of using multi-proxy approaches to reconstructing past environments, especially where vegetation is adapted to fire.

In the wake of climate warming, the water level of Lake Qinghai has been continuously and rapidly declining during the past decades, causing the regional government and citizens to worry about its future as a water resource. To understand the lake evolution process, the hydro-chemical characteristics of Lake Qinghai were investigated in August of 2008. The results show that Na+ and Cl- are the dominant cations and anions in the lake water, respectively, and hydrochemistry type is Cl-- Na+ with an obvious characteristic of a saline lake. The Gibbs plot illuminates that evaporation/crystallization is responsible for the chemical composition of the lake water. The variation in hydro-chemical regime might be attributed to the reduced lake levels between 1960s and 2000s. The lake level significantly correlated with the precipitation and evaporation in the Lake Qinghai catchment. In addition, changes of the lake level in the future are simulated according to climate warming scenarios from the IPCC report. The simulated results suggest that the lake level could rise again in the following decades due to the increased precipitation under the climate warming conditions, which is already a trend in the lake level observation data.

In an estuary,tidal,wave and other marine powers interact with the coast in different ways and affect estuary morphology as well as its *** the Huanghe(Yellow) River estuaries and nearby delta,there are many small sediment-affected estuaries with a unique morphology,such as the Xiaoqing River *** this study,we investigated the special evolution and genetic mechanism of the Xiaoqing River estuary by analyzing graphic and image data with a numerical simulation *** results show that NE and NE-E tide waves are the main driving force for sandbar *** shoals have originated from huge amounts of sediment from the Huanghe River,with consequent deposition at the Xiaoqing River *** lateral suspended sediments beyond the river mouth move *** takes place on the northern shoreline near the river mouth whereas erosion occurs in the *** deposits come mainly from scouring of the shallow seabed on the northern side of the *** surges speed up deposition in the *** of the sediment shoals has occurred in two steps involving the processes of growth and further southward *** the southward shift increases the river curvature and length,the general eastward orientation of the estuary is unlikely to *** on the adjacent shorelines do not affect the development of the sediment *** study presents a morphodynamic evolutionary model for the Xiaoqing River estuary,with a long-term series cycle,within which a relatively short cycle occurs.
