Circadian clock genes in peripheral tissues usually play an important role in regulating the circadian rhythms. Light is the most important environmental signal for synchronizing endogenous rhythms with the daily light-dark cycle, and compound eyes are known as the principal circadian photoreceptor for photic entrainment in most moths. However, there is little evidence for circadian timing in compound eyes. In the current study, we isolated the timeless gene, designated Ha-tim (GenBank accession number: KM233162), from the cotton bo 11 worm Helicoverpa armigera. Ha-tim and period (Haper) showed low messenger RNA levels in the compound eyes compared to the other tested adult organs. Ha-tim and Ha-per transcript levels were dependent on an endogenous rhythm that fluctuated over a daily cycle in the compound eyes and heads. The cycles of Hatim and Ha-per transcript levels followed similar time courses, and identical expression patterns of the two genes were observed in the compound eyes and heads. Ha-tim and Ha-per were dowregulated in the compound eyes after light exposure, copulation and starvation. These results indicated that Ha-tim and Ha-per transcript levels were regulated by endogenous and exogenous factors. Our study helped to improve our understanding of the circadian clock machinery in compound eyes and other peripheral tissues.

Real-time monitoring and investigation in fields showed that the disease starting period of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum in mechanical direct seeding fields was earlier. Disease conditions rose with the advancing growth stage, which grew more quickly during the early stage of anthesis, flower withering period and early si- lique mature period. Yield less rate increased with the increasing stem disease rate and disease index. Yield loss rate（ Y1 ） had extremely significant correlation with stem disease rate（X1 ）and disease index（X2 ）, and the related models were Y1 = 0. 544 330 2X1 -2. 316 1 （n = 14, r --0. 986 0 ＊＊）and YI = 0. 673 408 X2 - 1. 016 4 （ n = 14 ,r = 0.977 2 ~ ＊）, respectively. Disease control indexes for one time control against S. sclerotlorum in mechanical direct seeding fields were stem disease rate as 11.8% and disease index as 7.6, respectively. The control indexes for twice control against the disease were stem disease rate as 16.8% and disease index as 11.7. This paper provided a new scientific basis for preventing S. sclerotiorum in mechanical direct seeding fields.

In this study,an untargeted metabolomics method based on LC-MS was used to investigate the differential metabolites of coix seed after fermentation by Monascus *** compounds with highly correlated variable importance in projection(VIP)values of orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA)were selected as the important metabolites of coix seed *** seed was fermented by *** for 9 *** color value units(CVU)of pigment in fermented coix seed reached 157.47 CVU/g,and the contents of total phenols and total flavonoids were 0.32 mg/g and 1.2 mg/g,respectively.A total of 270 differential metabolites were detected,including amino acids,peptides,fatty acids,phenols,steroids,and their derivatives,of which the relative contents of 187 metabolites showed a significant upward trend(p<0.05).Amino acids,peptides and analogues accounted for the largest proportion at 26%,among which most metabolites were *** example,N-alpha-acetyllysine,l-tryptophan and l-arginine exhibited a fold change(FC)of 6200.87,330.29,and 35.59,*** particular,the detected steroid metabolites accounted for 3%of the total metabolites,and they all participated in the same pathway,in which androsterone,2-methoxyestrone and etiocholanolone were *** synthesis of these steroids was related to the precursors and enzymes in the pathway,such as dehydroepiandrosterone,androstenedione,and 3beta-hydroxy-delta5-steroid dehydrogenase(HSD3B).The results of this study reveal *** fermentation can successfully transform coix seed,improving the functional activities of ***,this process has high development value with important applications in the food industry.

Control Effect and Application Technology of Mandipropamid on Red Taro Blight

The field experiment results showed that 250 g/l mandipropamid suspension had good control effect on red taro blight,and the 1∶1500 suspension was applied twice continuously during the early period( June 25) and culmination period( July 12) of taro blight; the control effect 23 d after the last application reached 79. 28%,significantly better than that of conventional pesticide,and it was safe,so it had good prospects for the development and application in production.

Maize yellow mosaicvirus(MaYMV) as a newly identified polerovirus causes leaf reddening on maize and yellow dwarf on wheat,leading to severe economic *** this study,maize and wheat leaf samples showing viral symptoms were collected in 11 different regions in Henan province in *** results of their full length coat protein nucleotide and amino acid sequence showed that MaYMV was commonly distributed in Henan province with the highest detection rate of 100% in wheat from Zhumadian and Xinxiang66.7% in maize from *** amino acid identity was high between different isolates with a variation rate between 0%-2.0%.Further phylogenetic analysis showed that the maize and wheat isolates of MaYMV were clustered into a major *** study lays a foundation for the surveillance and control of MaYMV.

The long-legged chafer Hoplia spectabilis Medvedev was described in 1952. Its occurrence was rarely reported and the document about its morphological details was not found. However, the chafer did frequently break out at Buha River valley in Tianjun county, Qinghai province, China since 2005. In this paper, we present a comprehensive description and illustrations of morphological characteristics of H. spectabilis from local collection, including developmental stages of adult, egg, larva and pupa. Among them, characteristics of the larva and pupa, the male genitalia as well as the difference between male and female are described for the first time. The morphological data will be quite useful for identification and characterization of the chafer, a poorly known species. It will also be an important basis for the chafer control when it breaks out.
