Quantitative analysis of irrigation water productivity in the middle reaches of Heihe River Basin, Northwest China

With the growing shortage of surface water resources,it is of great significance for improving the irrigation water productivity(IWP)to ensure the water and food *** contribution of the driving factors of the IWP and the rational regulation of the input factors of agricultural production is *** this paper,118 and 80 sampling points were selected in Pingchuan and Liaoquan irrigation districts(PLID,the spacing of sampling point is approximately 1 km)and the middle reaches of the Heihe River basin(MHRB,the spacing of sampling point is approximately 10 km),*** characteristics and management measures near the sampling points were *** showed that the average value of the IWP in MHRB was 1.67 kg/m3,with a moderate heterogeneity in the *** main driving factors of IWP were irrigation,fertilization and planting *** the PLID,the contribution rates of soil factors and management measures to IWP were 20.6%and 35.2%,respectively,and the contribution of soil factors to IWP increased to 43.8%in the MHRB,while the contribution rate of management measures decreased to 24.8%.It shows that in a small irrigation districts,from the perspective of farmers,the improvement of IWP should be mainly controlled by management measures,while in the large area of watershed scale,the spatial differences in soil factors also need to be considered by the government management departments,when they want to increase IWP through regulating management measures.

ORGANIC matters in the ore-forming fluids are composed mainly of light hydrocarbons. Because of the small amount of hydrocarbons in fluid inclusions, it is quite difficult to study their behavior in mineralizing processes, excepting methane （CH4）. In this work, we used a high vacuum quadrupole gas massspectrometer system to determine the content and composition of light hydrocarbons (C1-7) in fluid inclusions in minerals collected from Changkeng Au-Ag deposit. The geological significance of the new data forgenesis of the deposit has been discussed briefly.

We present Bayes estimators, highest posterior density (HPD) intervals, and maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs), for the Maxwell failure distribution based on Type II censored data, i.e. using the first r lifetimes from a group of n components under test. Reliability/Hazard function estimates, Bayes predictive distributions and highest posterior density prediction intervals for a future observation are also considered. Two data examples and a Monte Carlo simulation study are used to illustrate the results and to compare the performances of the different methods.

Mortality, morbidity, early recognition, and treatment of sepsis remain a diagnostic dilemma for clinicians, in addition, the timely diagnosis of sepsis represents an ongoing clinical challenge. This review looks at the challenges of early recognition, the scope of the problem, the immunologic basis of the sepsis cascade, new frontiers related to interventions, and the role of antibiotics in an era of antimicrobial resistance. In Figure 1, once a patient is on the slippery slope of sepsis, the ability to reverse the momentum is challenging;hoping antibiotics, fluid resuscitation, vasopressors may buy time for the immunologic cascade to equilibrate to its homeostatic balance. While the development of septic shock is much more complex than pathogen proliferation, our understanding of the pathogenesis and ability to therapeutically intervene is in its infancy. Patients with sepsis frequently present for urgent medical care with undifferentiated infection and nonspecific symptoms. As 80% of patients with sepsis are initially treated in an Emergency Department, the burden of early recognition and intervention falls squarely on the shoulders of Emergency Department Clinicians. [1] This is an entity that occurs in all age groups, without regard to race, geography, or health status. Survival and mortality related to this clinical entity are poorly understood. Our understanding of sepsis needs to expand beyond the downstream effects and collateral damage of multiorgan dysfunction and failure. Immunologically, the antigenic triggers, be it invasive infection, severe injury, and systemic inflammation without concomitant infection, elicit similar pattern recognition receptors and innate host responses. In this paper,we introduce a neutrosophic N-subalgebra,a(ultra)neutrosophic N-filter,level sets of these neutrosophic N-structures and their properties on a Sheffer stroke *** defining a quasi-subalgebra of a Sheffer stroke BL-algebra,it is proved that the level set of neutrosophic N-subalgebras on the algebraic structure is its quasi-subalgebra and vice *** we show that the family of all neutrosophic N-subalgebras of a Sheffer stroke BL-algebra forms a complete distributive *** that a(ultra)neutrosophic N-filter of a Sheffer stroke BL-algebra is described,we demonstrate that every neutrosophic N-filter of a Sheffer stroke BL-algebra is its neutrosophic N-subalgebra but the inverse is generally not ***,it is presented that a level set of a(ultra)neutrosophic N-filter of a Sheffer stroke BL-algebra is also its(ultra)filter and the inverse is always ***,some features of neutrosophic N-structures on a Sheffer stroke BL-algebra are investigated.

Diversity of endophytes across the soil-plant continuum for Atriplex spp. in arid environments

Endophytes are hypothesized to be transferred across the soil-plant continuum, suggesting both the transfers of endophytes from environment to plant and from plant to soil. To verify this hypothesis and to assess the role of locality, we evaluated the similarity of microbial communities commonly found both in soils and endophytic communities in three arid regions, i.e. the Jornada LTER （Long Term Ecological Research） site in New Mexico, USA, and the research station of Jordan University of Science and Technology （JUST） and Khanasd research station in Badia region of Jordan. Rhizosphere and non-rhizosphere soils, leaves and seeds of Atriplex spp. were sampled. Diversity and distribution of bacteria and fungi across the soil-plant continuums were assessed by tag-encoded FLX amplicon pyrosequencing and sequence alignment. Of the total bacterial OTUs （operational taxonomic units）, 0.17% in Khanasri research station, 0.16% in research station of JUST, and 0.42% in Jornada LTER site were commonly found across all the plant and soil compartments. The same was true for fungi in two regions, i.e. 1.56% in research station of JUST and 0.86% in Jornada LTER site. However, in Khanasri research station, 12.08% of total fungi OTUs were found in at least one soil compartment and one plant compartment. Putative Arthrobacter, Sporosarcina, Cladosporium and members of Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria were found across all the soil-plant continuums. Ascomycota, mainly including Didymellaceae, Pleosporaceae and Davidiellaceae were present across all the soil-plant continuums. Microbial communities in two regions of Jordan were similar to each other, but both of them were different from the Jornada LTER site of USA. SIMPER （similarity percentage） analysis of bacterial and fungal taxa for both soil and endophyte communities revealed that dissimilarities of two bacterial genera （Arthrobacter and Sporosarcina） and two fungal genera （Cladosporium and Alternaria） are very high, so they play

The Rationale for a Different Approach to Preventing Cardiovascular Disease

The Problem: We have previously suggested that an alternative approach to preventing cardiovascular disease is necessary because atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) has been increasing for the last 50 years and has now reached epidemic status. Since the year 2000, approximately 600,000 heart attacks and ASCVD related deaths have occurred annually in the United States. It is the most common cause of death in the U.S., more than all cancers combined. The financial costs are staggering, amounting to 555 billion dollars per year in direct and indirect costs. Outlook for an improvement in these statistics is not encouraging as the U.S. population continues to become more obese and to develop diabetes. The Question: Why is ASCVD continuing to be a major challenge to healthcare providers when the pathogenesis is known and inexpensive preventative treatment is available? The reasons are multiple and complex. First, present financial reimbursement policies of healthcare organizations reward treatment of a disease and its complications instead of preventing the disease. Second, professional guidelines and treatment goals are often too complex, subject to interpretation, and time-consuming to be useful in the clinical setting. Third, no specific follow-up of patients at risk for ASCVD is recommended when the risk assessment changes. Fourth, many expensive cardiovascular diagnostic tests are utilized without meeting appropriate guidelines for their use. Fifth, treatment of individuals without first proving the presence of disease results in poor adherence to therapy. The Solution: This article describes the rationale for a new approach to the prevention of ASCVD in asymptomatic individuals. It is based upon preventing ASCVD by identifying all asymptomatic individuals with subclinical disease before an ASCVD event occurs. It recommends that all adults be screened for ASCVD on or before the age of 50 using a non-invasive atherosclerosis specific coronary artery calcium
