BACKGROUND Intertrochanteric(IT)fracture is one of the most common fractures seen in an orthopaedic *** femoral nailing(PFN)is a common modality of fixing IT femur *** retrospectively studied whether a PFN with two proximal lag screws can be done without distal interlocking screws in the 31-A1 and 31-A2 fracture patterns according to the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen/Orthopaedic Trauma Association(AO/OTA)guidelines for IT femur *** To compare the outcomes of IT fractures(AO/OTA 31-A1 and 31-A2)treated by PFN with and without distal interlocking *** We carried out a retrospective study of 140 patients in a tertiary care centre who had AO/OTA type 31-A1 and 31-A2 IT *** divided the patients into two groups,in which one of the groups received distal interlocking screws(group 1)and the other group did not(group 2).The subjects were followed up for a mean period of 14 mo and assessed for radiological union time,fracture site collapse,mechanical stability of implant,and complications associated with the PFN with distal interlocking and without distal ***,the results were *** PFN without distal interlocking screws has several advantages and gives better results over PFN with distal interlocking screws in the AO/OTA 31-A2 fracture ***,similar results were observed in both groups with the fracture pattern AO/OTA *** patients with fracture pattern AO/OTA 31-A2 treated by PFN without distal interlocking screws,there were minimal proximal lockrelated complications and no risk of distal interlock-related *** operative time,IITV radiation time and time to radiological union were *** patients also had better rotational alignment of the proximal femur,and the anatomy of the proximal femur was well *** was also noted that in the cases where distal interlocking was performed,there was a gradual decrease in neck shaft angle,which led to varus

Coronary artery ectasia is well-known but relatively uncommon finding with prevalence ranging from 1.2% to 5.3%. Coronary artery ectasia has been associated with atherosclerosis in approximately half of the cases. Here, we are presenting a case of male patient who experienced myocardial infarction and was diagnosed with coronary artery ectasia in proximal-mid junction of left anterior descending artery with stenotic lesion. The patient was successfully treated with percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty.

USING OF MULTISLICE HELICAL CT COLONOGRAPHY IN PATIENTS WITH MALIGNANT LESIONS OF COLON

Objoctive To investigate the techniques and clinical applications ofmultislice helical computed tomography （CT） colonography in colonic lesions. Methods Fifty-nine patients with malignant lesions of colon underwent volume scanning using multislice helical CT. Four types of reconstruction including CT virtual colonoscopy （CTVC）, shaded surface display （SSD）, Raysum, and multiple planar reconstruction （MPR） were used for image post-processing. The results were compared with those of colonoscopy and pathology. Results Multislice helical CT colonography detected 54 colorectal carcinomas, 4 adenomas with focal carcinoma, 1 non-Hodgkin＇s lymphoma （nhl）. The lesions＇ number, size, location, morphology, stricture of intestinal cavity, infiltration, and metastasis were shown satisfactorily by multislice helical CT colonography. Whole colon could be shown in all patients. CT colonography displayed 4 synchronous colonic tumors, 1 ascending colon carcinoma combined with left renal carcinoma among 54 patients with colonic carcinomas. The accuracy of location of CT colonography was 100%. There were 9 cases that CT showed the tumor location was different from the finding of conventional colonoscopy, while all of the CT location were proven exact by operation. CT colonography also displayed the infiltration of serous layer and fatty tissue in 45 cases; 21 cases matched the pathological results in all the 24 cases of suspicious lymph node metastasis, the sensitivity was 87.5%, the specificity was 90.6%; 9 cases hepatic metastasis, 2 ovarian metastasis, and 1 double adrenal gland metastasis. Conclusions Multislice helical CT colonography is effective in preoperative diagnosis, location, stage, and making treatment plan of colorectal carcinoma. It can display the portion not seen during colonoscopy and may have an adjunctive role.

TRIM71 is an RNA-binding protein with ubiquitin ligase activity. Numerous functions of mammalian TRIM71, including cell cycle regulation, embryonic stem cell(ESC) self-renewal, and reprogramming of pluripotent stem cells, are related to its RNA-binding property. We previously reported that a long noncoding RNA(lnc RNA) Trincr1 interacts with mouse TRIM71(m TRIM71) to repress FGF/ERK pathway in mouse ESCs(m ESCs). Herein, we identify an RNA motif specifically recognized by m TRIM71 from Trincr1 RNA, and solve the crystal structure of the nhl domain of m TRIM71 complexed with the RNA motif. Similar to the zebrafish TRIM71, m TRIM71 binds to a stem-loop structured RNA fragment of Trincr1, and an adenosine base at the loop region is crucial for the m TRIM71 interaction. Background: The regimen of cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisolone(CHOP) is an eicient treatment of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma(nhl). This study aimed to assess the eicacy and toxicity of dose-adjusted CHOP alone or in combination with rituximab(R-CHOP) by examining the stem cell mobilization in nhl patients. Factors afecting the collection of CD34+ cells were also ***: Our retrospective study included 39 patients eligible for autologous stem cell transplantation: 14 patients who expressed CD20 and were inancially eligible received R-CHOP for autologous peripheral blood stem cell(APBSC) mobilization; the remaining 25 patients received ***: The median CD34+ cell yield was 7.01 × 106 cells/kg body weight(range 1.49–28.39 × 106 cells/kg body weight), with only two patients failing to meet the target CD34+ cell harvest of ber of apheresis procedures per patient was 1(range 1–3). The≥2.0 APBS× 106 cells/kg body weight. The median numC mobilization yield of the CHOP group appeared to be higher than that of the R-CHOP group(P response(CR) rate in = 0.005), whereas the success rate was similar between groups. R-CHOP elevated the completeB cell lymphoma patients as compared with CHOP(P = 0.01). No signiicant diferences in toxicity or engraftment were observed between the two ***: The present study demonstrated that dose-adjusted CHOP chemotherapy efectively mobilized APBSCs in nhl patients and that the addition of rituximab to dose-adjusted CHOP chemotherapy elevated the CR rate for patients with B-cell lymphoma.
