Climate change affects various facets of life but there is little data on its effects on wild mushroom *** Province in China is a rich source of wild mushrooms and has experienced a temperature rise over recent *** has resulted in warmer temperatures but the impacts of these changes on mushroom production lack *** collected data on the fruiting of the highly prized matsutake mushroom(Tricholoma matsutake)in West Yunnan,China over an 11 year period from 2000 to *** phenology and productivity were compared against the driving meteorological variables using Projection to Latent Structure *** mushrooms appeared later in the season during the observation period,which is most likely explained by rising temperatures and reduced rain during May and *** temperature and abundant rain in August resulted in good *** climate response of matsutake production results from a sequence of processes that are possibly linked with regulatory signals and resource *** advance the knowledge of this complex system,a holistic research approach integrating biology,ecology,genetics,physiology,and phytochemistry is *** results contribute to a general model of fungal ecology,which can be used to predict the responses of fungi to global climate change.

The suitability of the abundant agro-industrial residues wheat straw(WS;control),barley and oats straw(BOS)and rice husk(RH),supplemented with various sources of oils(sunflower,corn oil),nitrogen(peptone,yeast extract)and calcium salts(CaSO_(4)⋅2H_(2)O,CaCl2),as novel substrates in solid-state fermentation of selected Pleurotus ostreatus and *** mushrooms was *** possible effect of different additives on mycelial growth rate,biomass production and endoglucanase,laccase and lipase biosynthesis were ***,their impact on essential cultivation aspects(earliness,total mushroom yield,biological efficiency)and carposome quality parameters(weight,morphological characteristics)was *** fungi showed their highest growth rates on BOS substrates and the most positive implementation was CaSO_(4)⋅2H_(2)O 6%w/w(Kr=9.58 mm/day;***,Kr=9.42 mm/day;***),while different additives led to enhancement of biomass *** species demonstrated minimal levels of endoglucanase activity,with values ranging from 0.01 to 0.42 U/g of dry weight,regardless of the substrate and the stage of *** the contrary,the maximum values of laccase activity were observed at 50%of colonization on BOS and RH,while supplementation with nitrogen and calcium sources positively affected its *** and *** cultivated on BOS supplemented with peptone at 2 and 5%w/w,synthesized significant laccase amounts,i.e.,12,165.78 and 8,624.55 U/g d.w.,*** amounts of lipase were produced,especially in substrates supplemented with sunflower 2%w/w,in quantities up to 1.42 U/g d.w.,whereas the highest lipase activity was achieved by *** on WS supplemented with corn oil at 2%w/w,with a value of 4.25 U/g *** *** fermentation of Pleurotus species in polypropylene bags,WS and BOS supported faster colonization and shorter earliness period than RH substrates,whereas supplementation did no

[Objective] The paper was to identify strain HN-1 against banana wilt disease and to determine its antagonism. [Method] The strain HN-1 was ob- tained from the soil in fields heavily infected by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense （FOC）. Antagonism of the strain against F. oxysporum was tested via dual-cul- ture and inhibition test on spore germination. [Result] HN-1 effectively inhibited mycelial growth and spore germination of F. oxysporum, Strain HN-1 was identi- fied as BrevibaciUus brevis according to its characteristics in morphology, physiology and biochemistry and its 16S rDNA sequence. The strain showed high inhibition effect on 15 species of fungal pathogens in the dual-culture trials with fungal pathogens. [ Conclusion] The study provides theoretical basis for application of strain HN-1 in agricultural fields.

This is the first in a series of papers on the fungi growing on plants in the Karst formations of the Asian region. In this study, we collected leaf specimens of Photinia with numerous spots from Guiyang Botanical Gardens, Guiyang, China. A combination of morphological characters, together with analyses of combined ITS,TUB and TEF sequence data, distinguished the taxon as a new species of Pestalotiopsis. The new taxon is herein described as Pestalotiopsis photinicola and discussed in relation to the most related taxa.

laboratory experiments have been carried out to determine the effects of lemon, cedar, pine and thyme oils as well as Citrocept on the growth of Fusarium solani Mart. (Sacc.) mycelium isolated from stored potato tubers. The biotic property of essential oils and Citrocept in inhibiting the linear growth of F. solani was assessed with the use of poisoned culture media, whereas the fungistatic property was determined by calculating, with the use of Abbott formula, the percentage indicating how many fungal colonies were inhibited from growth. A complete inhibition of the pathogen’s growth was observed in the presence of thyme oil at a concentration of 0.2% to 2% as well as in the presence of lemon oil at a concentration of 5% and 15%. Citrosept only at high concentrations caused a slower growth of F. solani. No fungistatic effects of cedar and pine oils were observed.

The genus Populus has long been used for environmental,agroforestry and industrial applications *** Populus is also recognized as a desirable crop for biofuel production and a model tree for physiological and ecological *** such,various modern biotechnologies,including CRISPR/Cas9-based techniques,have been actively applied to Populus for genetic and genomic improvements for traits such as increased growth rate and tailored lignin ***,CRISPR/Cas9 has been primarily used as the active Cas9 form to create knockouts in the hybrid poplar clone“717-1B4”(*** x *** clone INRA 717-1B4).Alternative CRISPR/Cas9-based technologies,*** involving modified Cas9 for gene activation and base editing,have not been evaluated in most Populus species for their *** we employed a deactivated Cas9(dCas9)-based CRISPR activation(CRISPRa)technique to fine-tune the expression of two target genes,TPX2 and LecRLK-G which play important roles in plant growth and defense response,in hybrid poplar clone“717-1B4”and poplar clone“WV94”(***“WV94”),*** observed that CRISPRa resulted in 1.2-fold to 7.0-fold increase in target gene expression through transient expression in protoplasts and Agrobacterium-mediated stable transformation,demonstrating the effectiveness of dCas9-based CRISPRa system in *** addition,we applied Cas9 nickase(nCas9)-based cytosine base editor(CBE)to precisely introduce premature stop codons via C-to-T conversion,with an efficiency of 13%–14%,in the target gene PLATZ which encodes a transcription factor involved in plant fungal pathogen response in hybrid poplar clone“717-1B4”.Overall,we showcase the successful application of CRISPR/Cas-based technologies in gene expression regulation and precise gene engineering in two Populus species,facilitating the adoption of emerging genome editing tools in woody species.
