CAB Furnace Atmosphere Visualisation Using Computational Fluid Dynamics

In today’s automotive industry almost all car and truck radiators, oil coolers and air conditioning heat exchangers are manufactured using Nocolok Controlled Atmosphere Brazing (CAB). One of the most critical elements of the brazing process is the atmosphere used to protect the flux. Oxygen content is the major variable affecting the performance of the nitrogen atmosphere. Furnace design and flow rate are the major factors affecting oxygen content. Optimisation of these atmosphere parameters has a significant impact on operating cost, and on the quality and consistency of the brazed product. Computational fluid dynamics provides a tool to visualise the atmosphere conditions within the furnace and to explore the effects of changing some of the variables. Modelling the atmosphere in a typical CAB furnace has shown the importance of the integrity of the curtains in maintaining the low oxygen levels required for successful Nocolok brazing. For a given set of curtains it has shown that the only effective way of decreasing oxygen levels is to increase atmosphere gas flow.

Dispersion compensation with few-mode fibers is emerging as a promising technique that can provide full dispersion and dispersion-slope compensation. The inherent modal path diversity of these fibers allows implementation of static as well as tunable dispersion management schemes. In addition, the low non-linearity of this technology can improve system OSNR, leading to enhancements in transmission distances.

A Steiner minimal tree (SMT) for a set of points P in the plane is a shortest networkinterconnecting *** construction of a SMT for a general set P is known to be an ***,SMTs have been constructed for special sets P such as ladders,splitting trees,zigzag lines and co-circular *** this paper we study SMTs for a wide class of point-sets calledmild bar *** show that a SMT for a mild bar wave must assume a special form,thus the numberof trees needed to be inspected is greatly *** if a mild bar wave is also a mild rectan-gular wave,then we produce a Steiner tree constructible in linear time whose length can exceed thatof a SMT by an amount bounded by the difference in heights of the two endpoints of the rectangularwave,thus independent of the number of *** a rectangular wave satisfies some otherconditions (including ladders as special cases),then the Steiner tree we produced is indeed a SMT.

Consider a system containing a type of n *** device consists of *** mn parts for n devices with different working probabilities,how do we groupthem into n devices such that the system is most reliable.A monotonic grouping means thatthe best parts are put together,then the best remaining parts are put together,etc..Asufficient and necessary condition for such grouping being optimal will be given in *** an application,we show that the monotonic grouping is optimal for the two-stagek-out-of-n *** m=2,we also study the grouping that the best pairs to the worst,the second best pairs to the second worst,etc.,associated with a redundant device problem.
