Accuracy and precision of dried urine spot method for the detection of Schistosoma mansoni circulating cathodic antigens in resource-limited settings

Background The World Health Organization recommends the use of Schisto point-of-care circulating cathodic anti-gens(Schisto POC-CCA)for screening of Schistosoma mansoni as it offers better sensitivity than ***,there are limitation facing the use of this method including timely availability of the test *** aim of this study was to determine the reliability of dried urine spot(DUS)method for collection of urine and detection of *** using Schisto POC-CCA cassettes in a resource-limited *** A cross-sectional study was conducted between October and November 2022 among 250 primary school children in Sengerema District,northwestern *** CCA was detected in filter paper-based DUSs,liquid urine using DUS Schisto POC-CCA(index),and direct urine Schisto POC-CCA(comparator)methods *** eggs in stool were detected using duplicate Kato-Katz(KK)*** measures of accuracy were com-puted and compared between the index and comparator *** strength of agreement between inter-raters precisions was tested using Cohen's kappa(k).Results This study revealed *** prevalence rates of 28.8%,54.0%and 50.8%by duplicate KK,direct urine Schisto POC-CCA and DUS Schisto POC-CCA methods *** mean intensity of infection among infected participants Was 86.3 eggs per gram of stool(EPG)ranging from 12.0 EPG to 824.0 *** sensitivity of DUS Schisto POC-CCA and direct urine Schisto POC-CCA Was 94.44%(95%CI:89.15-99.74%)and 97.22%(95%CI:93.43-100.00%)*** DUS Schisto POC-CCA method had slightly higher specificity(66.85%)than direct urine Schisto POC-CCA method(63.48%).The accuracy of the DUS Schisto POC-CCA Was found to be slightly high(74.80%,95%CI:68.94-79.06%)compared to that of direct urine Schisto POC-CCA(73.20%,95%CI:67.25-78.59%).There was good agreement between two laboratory technologists who performed the DUS Schisto POC-CCA method on similar samples(k=0.80,95%CI:0.59-0.95).Con

This paper presents a discussion on the method, mechanism, and application of adhesive hydrogel in enhancing epidermal signal,focusing on the interface between hydrogel and skin. Due to its excellent conductivity and high adaptability to the skin, the hydrogel is exceptionally suitable for detecting human-machine interfaces, particularly epidermal electromyographic ***, the detection of the high epidermal signal is hindered by the gap and low adhesion between hydrogel and skin. This paper addresses these challenges by introducing approaches to reduce the interface gap and increase interface adhesion, thereby enabling the development of hydrogel-based epidermal signal detection arrays with enhanced resolution and detection performance.

BACKGROUND Early diagnosis of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)has been a longstanding *** prognosis of patients with PDAC depends on the stage at *** is necessary to identify biomarkers for the detection and differentiation of pancreatic tumors and optimize PDAC sample preparation procedures for DNA and RNA *** molecular studies are done using paraffin-embedded blocks;however,the integrity of DNA and RNA is often compromised in this ***,RNA isolated from human pancreatic tissue samples is generally of low quality,in part,because of the high concentration of endogenous pancreatic RNAse activity *** To assess the potential of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration(EUS-FNA)to obtain specimens from pancreatic neoplasms for subsequent RNA molecular profiling,including next-generation sequencing(NGS).METHODS Thirty-four EUS-FNA samples were included in this study:PDAC(n=15),chronic pancreatitis(n=5),pancreatic cysts(n=14),mucinous cysts(mucinous cystic neoplasia/intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasia)n=7,serous cystic neoplasms n=5,and pseudocysts n=*** material consisted of cyst fluid and cyst wall samples obtained by through-the-needle biopsy(TTNB).Samples were stored at -80℃ until *** purity(A260/230,A260/280 ratios),concentration,and integrity(RIN)were ***-time polymerase chain reaction was conducted on all samples,and small RNA libraries were prepared from solid mass *** RNA was successfully extracted from 29/34(85%)EUS-FNA samples:100% pancreatic adenocarcinoma samples,100% chronic pancreatitis samples,70% pancreatic fluid cyst samples,and 50%TTNB *** relative expression of GAPDH and HPRT were obtained for all successfully extracted RNA samples(n=29)including lowquality RNA *** concentration and nonoptimal RIN values(no less than 3)of RNA extracted from EUS-FNA samples did not prevent NGS library *** suitability of cyst fluid samples

Assessment of public perspectives and barriers towards dengue preventive practices using the Health Belief Model in Puducherry,India:A cross-sectional study

Assembly of functional carboxymethyl cellulose/polyethylene oxide/anatase TiO_(2) nanocomposites and tuning the dielectric relaxation, optical, and photoluminescence performances

Nanocomposite films consisting of carboxymethyl cellulose,polyethylene oxide(CMC/PEO),and anatase titanium diox-ide(TO)were produced by the use of sol-gel and solution casting ***2 nanocrystals were effectively incorporated into CMC/PEO polymers,as shown by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and attenuated total reflectance fourier transform infrared(ATR-FTIR)*** roughness growth is at high levels of TO nanocrystals(TO NCs),which means increasing active sites and defects in CMC/*** differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)thermograms,the change in glass transition temperature(Tg)val-ues verifies that the polymer blend interacts with TO *** increment proportions of TO NCs have a notable impact on the dielectric performances of the nanocomposites,as *** electrical properties of the CMC/PEO/TO nanocomposite undergo significant *** nanocomposite films exhibit a red alteration in the absorption edge as the concentration of TO NCs increases in the polymer *** decline in the energy gap is readily apparent as the weight percentage of TO NCs *** photoluminescence(PL)emission spectra indicate that the sites of the luminescence peak maximums show slight variation;peaks get wider,while their intensities decrease dramatically as the concentration of TO *** nanocomposite materials show potential for multifunctional applications including optoelectronics,antireflection coatings,pho-tocatalysis,light emitting diodes,and solid polymer electrolytes.

Reactive oxidative species(ROos)production-driven ferroptosis plays a role in acute kidney injury(Akl).However,its exact molecular mechanism is poorly *** receptor CD36 has important roles in oxidizing lipids,lipid accumulation,metabolic syndrome,and insulin resistance in chronic kidney disease,but its roles remain unexplored in *** present study investigated the role and mechanism of CD36 in regulating proximal tubular cell ferroptosis and *** expression of CD36 was found to be significantly up-regulated in AKI renal tissues and correlated with renal function,which might serve as an independent biomarker for AKl ***,in adult mice subjected to AKl,deletion of CD36(CD36-/-)induced tubular cell Ros accumulation,ferroptosis activation,and renal ***,combining LC-MS/MS,co-IP,and ubiquitination analyses revealed that CD36 could specifically bind to ferroptosis suppressor protein 1(FSP1)and regulate its ubiquitination at sites K16 and K24,leading to FSP1 degradation and progression of ferroptosis in *** present results emphasize a novel mechanism of CD36 in cisplatin-induced *** discovery of the special CD36 roles in promoting ferroptosis and AKI development by regulating the ubiquitination of FSP1 in proximal tubular cells may be potential therapeutic targets for ***,CD36 may play a key role in the progression of ***,targeting CD36 may provide a promising treatment option for AKI.

To tackle emerging power system small-signal stability problems such as wideband oscillations induced by the large-scale integration of renewable energy and power electronics,it is crucial to review and compare existing small-signal stability analysis *** this basis,guidance can be provided on determining suitable analysis methods to solve relevant small-signal stability problems in power electronics-dominated power systems(PEDPSs).Various mature methods have been developed to analyze the small-signal stability of PEDPSs,including eigenvalue-based methods,Routh stability criterion,Nyquist/Bode plot based methods,passivity-based methods,positive-net-damping method,lumped impedance-based methods,bifurcation-based methods,*** this paper,the application conditions,advantages,and limitations of these criteria in identifying oscillation frequencies and stability margins are reviewed and compared to reveal and explain connections and discrepancies among ***,efforts are devoted to mathematically proving the equivalence between these small-signal stability ***,the performance of these criteria is demonstrated and compared in a 4-machine 2-area power system with a wind farm and an IEEE 39-bus power system with 3 wind farms.

Exploring the influences of education,intelligence and income on mental disorders

Background Previous studies have shown that educational attainment(EA),intelligence and income are key factors associated with mental ***,the direct effects of each factor on major mental disorders are *** We aimed to evaluate the overall and independent causal effects of the three psychosocial factors on common mental *** Using genome-wide association study summary datasets,we performed Mendelian randomisation(MR)and multivariable MR(MVMR)analyses to assess potential associations between the 3 factors(EA,N=766345;household income,N=392422;intelligence,N=146808)and 13 common mental disorders,with sample sizes ranging from 9907 to ***-variance weighting was employed as the main method in the MR *** Our MR analysis showed that(1)higher EA was a protective factor for eight mental disorders but contributed to anorexia nervosa,obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD),bipolar disorder(BD)and autism spectrum disorder(ASD);(2)higher intelligence was a protective factor for five mental disorders but a risk factor for OCD and ASD;(3)higher household income protected against 10 mental disorders but confers risk for anorexia *** MVMR analysis showed that(1)higher EA was a direct protective factor for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder(ADHD)and insomnia but a direct risk factor for schizophrenia,BD and ASD;(2)higher intelligence was a direct protective factor for schizophrenia but a direct risk factor for major depressive disorder(MDD)and ASD;(3)higher income was a direct protective factor for seven mental disorders,including schizophrenia,BD,MDD,ASD,post-traumatic stress disorder,ADHD and anxiety *** Our study reveals that education,intelligence and income intertwine with each *** each factor,its independent effects on mental disorders present a more complex picture than its overall effects.
