The contribution of phytoliths to total biogenic silica(BSi) volumes in rivers worldwide,and the associated implications for the biogeochemical cycle,require in-depth *** on samples from rivers in Peninsular Malaysia,this project investigated the source and characteristics of B Si found in Asian tropical rivers,as well as the process of reverse weathering taking place in these fluvial *** indicated that BSi samples collected in sediments consisted of phytolith,diatom and sponge ***,predominantly of the elongate form,comprised 92.8%-98.3% of BSi in the Pahang *** BSi in this river consisted mainly of pennatae diatoms,but represented a relatively small proportion of the total BSi ***,diatom BSi(predominantly of the Centricae form) was more prevalent in the Pontian and Endau Rivers with shares of 68.8% and 79.3% of the total BSi volumes,respectively,than Pahang *** contents of the BSi particulates ranged from 1.85% to 10.8% with an average of 4.79%.These values are higher than those recorded in other studies to date,and indicate that BSi plays a major role in controlling permanent carbon *** study suggests that phytoliths from terrestrial plants are the primary constituents of BSi in the rivers of Peninsular Malaysia,and therefore represent a significant proportion of the coastal silica budget.

Introduction:The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)Omicron variant is the dominant circulating strain *** assess the importation of SARS-CoV-2 variants in the mainland of China during the Omicron epidemic,the genomic surveillance data of SARS-CoV-2 from imported coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)cases in the mainland of China during the first half of 2022 were ***:Sequences submitted from January to July 2022,with a collection date before June 30,2022,were *** proportions of SARS-CoV-2 variants as well as the relationships between the origin and destination of each Omicron imported case were ***:4,946 sequences of imported cases were submitted from 27 provincial-level administrative divisions(PLADs),and the median submission interval was within 1 month after *** 3,851 Omicron sequences with good quality,1 recombinant(XU)and 4 subvariants under monitoring(BA.4,BA.5,BA.2.12.1,and BA.2.13)were recorded,and 3 of them(BA.4,BA.5,and BA.2.12.1)caused local transmissions in the mainland of China later than that recorded in the *** subvariants dominated in the first half of 2022 and shifted from BA.1 to BA.2 then to BA.4 and *** percentage of BA.2 in the imported SARS-CoV-2 surveillance data was far higher than that in the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data(GISAID).The imported cases from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region,China,accounted for 32.30%of Omicron cases sampled,and 98.71%of them were ***:The Omicron variant showed the intra-Omicron evolution in the first half of 2022,and all of the Omicron subvariants were introduced into the mainland of China multiple times from multiple different locations.

The terrestrial time-variable gravity measurements are characterized by a high signal-to-noise ratio and sensitivity to the sources of mass change in the Earth's *** gravity data have many applications,such as surface deformation,groundwater storage changes,and mass migration before and after *** on repeated terrestrial gravity measurements at 198 gravity stations in the Sichuan-Yunnan region(SYR)from 2015 to 2017,we determine a time series of degree 120 gravity fields using the localized spherical harmonic(Slepian)basis *** results show that adopting the first 6 Slepian basis functions is sufficient for effective localized Slepian modeling in the *** differences between two gravity campaigns at the same time of year show an obvious correlation with tectonic *** degree 120 timevariable gravity models presented in this paper will benefit the study of the regional mass migration inside the crust of the SYR and supplement the existing geophysical models for the China Seismic Experimental Site.

The study on how the variations in CO2 sources and sinks can affect the CO2 concentration over East Asia would be useful to provide information for policymaker concerning carbon emission *** this study,a nested-grid version of global chemical transport model(GEOS-Chem)is employed to assess the impacts of variations in meteorological parameters,terrestrial fluxes,fossil fuel emissions,and biomass burning on inter-annual variations of CO2 concentrations over East Asia in 2004—*** CO2 concentrations are compared with observations at 14 surface stations from the World Data Centre for Greenhouse Gases(WDCGG)and satellite-derived C 02 column density(XCO,)from the Gases Observing SATellite(GOSAT).The comparison shows that the simulated CO2 column density is generally higher than that of GOSAT by 1.33×10^6(annual mean point by point biases averaged over East Asia).The model reasonably captures the temporal variations of CO2 concentrations observed at the ground-based stations,but it is likely to underestimate the peaks-to-troughs amplitude of the seasonal cycle by 50%or *** simulated surface CO2 concentration in East Asia exhibits the largest inter-annual variation in December-January—February(DJF).The regional mean absolute deviation(MAD)values over East Asia are within(4.4—5.0)×10^-6 for all *** sensitivity simulations indicate that the inter-annual variations of surface CO2 concentrations are mainly driven by variations of meteorological parameters,and partly modulated by the inter-annual variations of terrestrial fluxes and fossil fuel emissions in local *** variations of the terrestrial fluxes and fossil fuel emissions may account for〜28%of the inter-annual variation of surface CO2 concentration in southern *** inter-annual variations of the peaks-to-troughs amplitude are dependent on variations of meteorological parameters,terrestrial fluxes and fossil fuel emissions in local *** influence of biomass burning emi

In order to understand origin and fate of particulate organic matter,the isotopic composition(δ^(13)C andδ^(15)N),total or-ganic carbon content,total nitrogen content,and C/N ratios were measured for suspended particulate organic matter(POM)collected from the northern South China Sea(NSCS)during *** study revealed thatδ^(13)C generally decreased from land to sea,and elevatedδ^(13)C occurred at the nearshore stations,suggesting that POC was mainly contributed from the eutrophic level and microbial ***,the distribution ofδ^(15)N values were complicated,and heterotrophic modification was responsible for higherδ^(15)N in the nearshore *** distribution patterns ofδ^(13)C andδ^(15)N in the nearshore stations may be associated with the intensifi-cation of human activity in the *** on the Stable Isotope Analysis in R model,65%of POM was contributed by marine or-ganic matter in the NSCS,20%by terrestrial inputs,and 15%by freshwater algae.
