The new coronavirus disease(COVID-19)outbreak has challenged us to take unprecedented steps to bring this pandemic under *** view of the urgency of this situation,convalescent plasma which was used in previous coronavirus outbreaks has emerged as one of the treatment options in this current *** is mainly due to the fact that convalescent plasma has been studied in a few case series with promising *** addition,on-going large clinical trials aimed to further evaluate the effectiveness,safety,and optimal dosage,duration and timing of administration of convalescent plasma are indeed revealing a certain level of promising ***,this article aims to provide an overview of possible mechanisms of actions of convalescent plasma,its benefits and its level of usage safeness by summarizing the existing evidence on the use of convalescent plasma in COVID-19 patients.

Coarse-grained（CG） metals strengthened by nanotwinned（NT） regions possess high strength and good ductility. As such, they are very suitable for applications in bullet-proof targets. Here, a numerical model based on the conventional theory of strain gradient plasticity and the Johnson–Cook failure criterion is employed to study the influences of volume fraction of NT regions on their ballistic *** results show that in general a relatively small twin spacing（4–10 nm） and a moderate volume fraction（7%–20%） will lead to excellent limit velocity and that the influences of volume fraction on limit displacement change with the category of impact processes.

Background:The frequency and magnitude of dengue epidemics continue to increase exponentially in Malaysia,with a shift in the age range predominance toward adults and an expansion to rural *** this,information pertaining to the extent of transmission of dengue virus(DENV)in the rural community is *** communitybased pilot study was conducted to establish DENV seroprevalence amongst healthy adults in a rural district in Southern Malaysia,and to identify influencing ***:In this study undertaken between April and May 2015,a total of 277 adult participants were recruited from households across three localities in the Sungai Segamat subdistrict in Segamat *** were tested for immunoglobulin G(IgG)(Panbio®Dengue Indirect IgG ELISA/high-titer capture)and immunoglobulin M(IgM)(Panbio®)*** plaque reduction neutralization test(PRNT)was conducted on random samples of IgGpositive sera for further *** history and a recall of previous history of dengue were collected through interviews,whereas sociodemographic information was obtained from an existing ***:The overall seroprevalence for DENV infection was 86.6%(240/277)(95%CI:83-91%).Serological evidence of recent infection(IgM/high-titer capture IgG)was noted in 11.2%(31/277)of participants,whereas there was evidence of past infection in 75.5%(209/277)of participants(indirect IgG minus recent infections).The PRNT assay showed that the detected antibodies were indeed specific to *** multivariate analysis showed that the older age group was significantly associated with past DENV *** increased with age;48.5%in the age group of45 years(P<0.001).No associations with occupation,study site,housing type,comorbidity,educational level,and marital status were observed,although the latter two were statistically significant in the univariate *** of the studied factors were significantl

A simple theoretical model of a heat pipe heat exchanger (HPHE) based on the e-NTU method is presented. An iterative computer program was developed to predict the overall effectiveness of a counter-flow air-air loop heat pipe heat exchanger (LHPHE). A thermal resistance network approach for a single thermosyphon was first considered to determine the overall heat transfer coefficients and the NTU\'s for the evaporator and condenser sections. The model incorporated previously determined evaporating and condensing coefficients. The overall effectiveness of the 6, 4 and 2 row LHPHE was then predicted. The theoretical overall effectiveness was compared with experimental data obtained from a R410a filled LHPHE. The experimental overall effectiveness results compared very well with the simulated values. The results showed that the 6 row arrangement performed better than the 4 or 2 row arrangement in the experiment.

Temperature Profiles in the Flow Channel of a Natural Convection Solar Air Heater

An experimental investigation was conducted to measure the temperature variation across the flow channel and to determine the performance of a natural convection solar air heater at various tilt angles from 15, 30 and 45o. The results of the temperature profile across the air gap showed that heat transfer from the absorber plate to the air stream was mainly by convection. At a particular section, mean air temperature could be calculated from the arithmetic mean of the temperature profile across the air gap to within ± 2℃. The axial air temperature distribution was non linear and did not increase much beyond 1 m of collector length. It tended to decrease towards the end of the collector. Overall glass, absorber plate and mean air temperatures over the entire length of the solar air heater could be determined by averaging the mean axial temperatures to within ± 2 ℃. The heater performed better as inclination increased.
