Optimized sequential therapy vs 10- and 14-d concomitant therapy for eradicating Helicobacter pylori: A randomized clinical trial

BACKGROUND A cure for Helicobacter pylori(***)remains a problem of global *** prevalence of antimicrobial resistance is widely rising and becoming a challenging issue *** sequential therapy seems to be one of the most attractive strategies in terms of efficacy,tolerability and *** most common sequential therapy consists of a dual therapy[proton-pump inhibitors(PPIs)and amoxicillin]for the first period(5 to 7 d),followed by a triple therapy for the second period(PPI,clarithromycin and metronidazole).PPIs play a key role in maintaining a gastric pH at a level that allows an optimal efficacy of antibiotics,hence the idea of using new generation *** open-label prospective study randomized 328 patients with confirmed *** infection into three groups(1:1:1):The first group received quadruple therapy consisting of twice-daily(bid)omeprazole 20 mg,amoxicillin 1 g,clarith-romycin 500 mg and metronidazole 500 mg for 10 d(QT-10),the second group received a 14 d quadruple therapy following the same regimen(QT-14),and the third group received an optimized sequential therapy consisting of bid rabe-prazole 20 mg plus amoxicillin 1 g for 7 d,followed by bid rabeprazole 20 mg,clarithromycin 500 mg and metronidazole 500 mg for the next 7 d(OST-14).AEs were recorded throughout the study,and the *** eradication rate was determined 4 to 6 wk after the end of treatment,using the 13C urea breath *** In the intention-to-treat and per-protocol analysis,the eradication rate was higher in the OST-14 group compared to the QT-10 group:(93.5%,85.5%P=0.04)and(96.2%,89.5%P=0.03)***,there was no statist-ically significant difference in eradication rates between the OST-14 and QT-14 groups:(93.5%,91.8%P=0.34)and(96.2%,94.4%P=0.35),*** overall incidence of AEs was significantly lower in the OST-14 group(P=0.01).Furthermore,OST-14 was the most cost-effective among the three *** The optimized 14-

Dynamic thermal performance of multilayer hollow clay walls filled with insulation materials:Toward energy saving in hot climates

This study examines the benefits of incorporating passive techniques into multilayer hollow clay brick walls to improve their dynamic thermal *** finite element approach was used to solve the incompressible Navier-Stokes and energy equations to analyze the dynamic thermal response of walls exposed to real thermal excitations of the Marrakesh *** results show that increasing the emissivity from 0.1 to 0.9 significantly increases the total heat load over 24 ***,filling 100% of the cavities with insulation materials delayed the temperature peak by about 2.3 h and lowered the decrement factor by roughly 43%,with a value smaller than *** addition,it is demonstrated that the total thermal load is reduced by approximately 28% for improved wall configurations(100% insulation filling cavities)compared to traditional wall configurations(100% air filling cavities),which aids in improving building energy efficiency.

Quantum correlations that surpass entanglement are of great importance in the realms of quantum information processing and quantum ***,for quantum systems prepared in pure states,it is difficult to differentiate between quantum entanglement and quantum ***,this indistinguishability is no longer holds for mixed *** contribute to a better understanding of this differentiation,we have explored a simple model for both generating and measuring these quantum *** study concerns two macroscopic mechanical resonators placed in separate Fabry–Pérot cavities,coupled through the photon hopping *** system offers a comprehensively way to investigate and quantify quantum correlations beyond entanglement between these mechanical *** key ingredient in analyzing quantum correlation in this system is the global covariance *** forms the basis for computing two essential metrics:the logarithmic negativity(E_(N)^(m))and the Gaussian interferometric power(P_(G)^(m)).These metrics provide the tools to measure the degree of quantum entanglement and quantum correlations,*** study reveals that the Gaussian interferometric power(P_(G)^(m))proves to be a more suitable metric for characterizing quantum correlations among the mechanical modes in an optomechanical quantum system,particularly in scenarios featuring resilient photon hopping.

Recent studies have underscored the significance of the capillary fringe in hydrological and biochemical ***,its role in shallow waters is expected to be ***,the study of groundwater flow has centered on unsaturated-saturated zones,often overlooking the impact of the capillary *** this study,we introduce a steady-state two-dimensional model that integrates the capillary fringe into a 2-D numerical *** novel approach employs the potential form of the Richards equation,facilitating the determination of boundaries,pressures,and velocities across different ground surface *** utilized a two-dimensional Freefem++finite element model to compute the stationary *** validation of the model was conducted using experimental *** employed the OFAT(One_Factor-At-Time)method to identify the most sensitive soil parameters and understand how changes in these parameters may affect the behavior and water dynamics of the capillary *** results emphasize the role of hydraulic conductivity as a key parameter influencing capillary fringe shape and *** values within the capillary fringe suggest the prevalence of horizontal *** variation of the water table level and the incoming flow q0,we have shown the correlation between water table elevation and the upper limit of the capillary fringe.

Higgs inflation model with non-minimal coupling in hybrid Palatini approach

In this paper,we propose a hybrid metric Palatini approach in which the Palatini scalar curvature is non minimally coupled to the scalar *** derive Einstein’s field equations,i.e.,the equations of motion of the scalar ***,the background and perturbative parameters are obtained by means of Friedmann equations in the slow roll *** analysis of cosmological perturbations allowed us to obtain the main inflationary parameters,e.g.,the scalar spectral index and tensor to scalar ratio *** this perspective,as an application of our analysis,we consider the Higgs field with quartic potential,which plays the inflaton role,and show that predictions of Higgs hybrid inflation are in good agreement with recent observational data[***.641,61(2020)].

Enhancing sustainability in phosphate ore processing:Performance of frying oil as alternative flotation collector for carbonate removal

Recycling waste frying oils for the synthesis of flotation reagents presents a promising avenue for sustainable waste ***,it offers a cost-effective solution for crafting a specialized collector designed to efficiently remove carbonates and enhance phosphate enrichment in froth flotation *** study focuses on the synthesis of an anionic collector using the saponification reaction of a frying oil sample,subsequently applied to the flotation of calcite and *** elucidate the adsorption mechanisms of the frying oil collector(FrOC)and sodium oleate,a reference collector,on fluorapatite,calcite,dolomite,and quartz surfaces,comprehensive experiments were conducted,including zeta potential measurements and Fourier transform infrared *** revealed diverse adsorption affinities of the molecules towards these *** assess the practical performance of the collector,flotation tests were conducted using a natural phosphate ore mixture,employing a BoxBehnken experimental ***,under optimized conditions(pH 9,1000 g/t of FrOC,3.5 min of conditioning,and 6 min of flotation),FrOC exhibited excellent performance,with calcite and dolomite recoveries exceeding 80%,while apatite recovery in the concentrate fraction remained below 10%.This work exemplifies both circular economy practices and the distinctive approach to sustainable mineral processing.

Surgical Management of a Collision Tumor: The Association of Intracranial Meningioma and Macroadenoma

Background: The simultaneous presence of a pituitary adenoma and a meningioma is a rare and underreported condition. The randomly encountered cases need to be reported to further allow our understanding of this collision tumors that are still not understood nor fully described. Patients and Method: We report a case of coexisting nonfunctioning pituitary adenoma and a left temporal lobe meningioma revealed by a 1-year history of progressive vision loss and occasional headaches in a 56-year-old woman. Her clinical condition worsened in the last 5 months with ptosis, cavernous sinus syndrome, and ophthalmoplegia of the right eye without papilledema. There was an improvement in the visual symptoms after subtotal resection of both lesions through a right frontotemporal craniotomy. Histology confirmed a collision tumor. The patient was referred for adjuvant treatment with gamma knife radiosurgery. He was doing well and back to his usual duties 6 months later. Conclusion: A gross total or subtotal resection with adjuvant therapy is the gold standard for the surgical management of collision tumors for a favorable patient outcome.

Radiation protection knowledge and practices among Moroccan dentists:A cross-sectional study

Objective:To analyze the current status of knowledge and practices among the Moroccan dentists in the region of Rabat-Sale-Kenitra,towards radiation ***:This is a cross-sectional study based on a questionnaire related to knowledge and practice regarding radiation protection of patients and dental staff from April to June *** study sample included 325 dentists practicing in the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra *** target population consisted of all dentists working in public,semipublic and private ***:96.6%of dentists were aware of radiation ***,nearly 35%were aware of ALARA(as low as reasonably achievable)principle and 73.9%thought that dental X-rays are harmful.63.6%of subjects used digital image *** 16.7%of them used a film holder and more than 60%didn't follow the position and distance *** median knowledge score was 7[5,9],and there was a statistically significant difference according to dentist qualification(P=0.007),dental radiation protection continuous training(Pve relationship between knowledge score and practice score(r=0.24,Pving dentists'knowledge of radiation protection measures and tools as well as dose reduction techniques could increase their safe practices in dental radiology.
