Comparison of self-report and objective measures of male sexual dysfunction in a Japanese primary care setting:a cross-sectional,self-administered mixed methods survey

Objectives Erectile dysfunction(ED)is a common problem among middle-aged males and men often do not talk about sexual problems with their primary care physicians(PCPs).We hypothesised that many Japanese men who meet the criteria for ED would not recognise their condition based on responses to an internationally validated *** secondary aims were to examine potential barriers to seeking treatment for ED by their *** sought to elucidate their perspectives about male sexual dysfunction *** merging of the quantitative and qualitative findings,we sought an enhanced understanding of the factors affecting sexual dysfunction *** A cross-sectional,self-administered mixed methods survey was distributed at a suburban family medicine clinic in Sapporo,*** participants were 40 to 69-year old men who came for routine scheduled visits from 5 November to 21 December *** the office visit,participants completed a confidential 11-item survey addressing sexual dysfunction including the 5-item version of the International Index of Erectile Function scale and open-ended *** Teine Family Medicine Clinic,a suburban family medicine clinic in Sapporo,*** We enroled 66 male patients aged 40-69 years who presented for routine outpatient care in the Teine Family Medicine *** Of surveyed participants,39%(26/66)reported having sexual dysfunction,but 92%(61/66)met ED *** respondents,48%(16/33)had desire for treatment,but only one man had discussed sexual dysfunction with his *** the 12 desiring treatment from PCPs,the main barriers to discussing were shame(n=7)and lack of awareness that PCPs can treat ED(n=5).These men’s perspectives about sexual dysfunction included viewing sexual dysfunction as normal ageing,attributing sexual dysfunction to decreased libido,considering sexual activity for a healthy life,having good rapport with PCPs,having incomplete knowledge about treatment and l

CAD and CAE Integration Through Scientific Visualization Techniques for Illumination Design

Engineers tend to use different software to perform tasks such as geometry modeling, database management, numerical analysis, and visualization. This may cause decrease of productivity and loss of information during the conversion process between different data file formats. This paper presents a computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided engineering (CAE) system integration using scientific visualization tools and techniques. It deals with the development of a 3D CAD add-in for lighting analysis which uses the CAD model as 3D interface for creating a lighting scheme, processing, and visualizing 2D or 3D illuminance fields. Visualization features as color and contour mapping were developed using the visualization toolkit (VTK) toolkit. The application integrates all functionalities of the 3D CAD with tools for light sources database management, pre-processing, processing, and post-processing of illuminance fields in a single environment. This approach increases productivity and eliminates the need for different software.

Family medicine residency training in Ghana after 20 years:resident attitudes about their education

Objective In addition to assessing educational needs of family medicine trainees in Ghana,we sought to assess whether those entering the training programme aimed to pursue an academic *** A case study using an anonymous cross-sectional survey through collaboration between faculty members from the family medicine departments of Ghana and the University of *** The family medicine postgraduate trainees and the most recent graduates in the three training sites,Accra,Kumasi and Mampong,as well as modular residents in Ghana served as the targeted participants during data collection between October and November of *** Second and third year family medicine residents,fellows(known as senior residents in Ghana)and recent graduates were invited to participate in this ***-five of 77 eligible subjects provided responses(46%response rate),but five records were eliminated due to incomplete data to yield a survey completion rate of 39%(30/77).Result Participants were mostly men(n=19),and the average age of respondents was 37 years *** participants indicated the residency programmes needed more faculty 97%(n=29),supervision during outpatient care 87%(n=26)and lectures 83%(n=25).The main reason provided by respondents for entering residency programme in family medicine,which is currently not required for practising primary care in Ghana,was to obtain more education 93%(n=28).Participants who had completed the residency programme were much more likely to be interested in becoming faculty compared with those still in residency(pprogrammes and supports investing in trainees and new graduates as future faculty candidates.

A Transfer Learning-Based Approach to Detect Cerebral Microbleeds

Cerebral microbleeds are small chronic vascular diseases that occur because of irregularities in the cerebrum *** and elderly people with brain injury and dementia can have small microbleeds in their brains.A recent study has shown that cerebral microbleeds could be remarkably risky in terms of life and can be riskier for patients with *** this study,we proposed an efficient approach to automatically identify microbleeds by reducing the false positives in openly available susceptibility-weighted imaging(SWI)data *** proposed structure comprises two different pretrained convolutional models with four *** stages include(i)skull removal and augmentation,(ii)making clusters of data samples using the k-mean classifier,(iii)reduction of false positives for efficient performance,and(iv)transfer-learning *** proposed technique was assessed using the SWI dataset available for 20 *** our findings,we attained an accuracy of 97.26%with a 1.8%false-positive rate using data augmentation on the AlexNet transfer learning model and a 1.1%false-positive rate with 97.89%accuracy for the ResNet 50 model with data augmentation *** results show that our models outperformed the existing approach for the detection of microbleeds.

Type-I Weyl points induced by negative coupling in photonic crystal

Weyl points,which are the degenerate points in three-dimensional momentum space,have been widely studied in the photonic system,and show some intriguing phenomena such as topologically protected surface states and chiral ***-I Weyl systems possess a complete bandgap,and topologically protected surface states can be excited without disturbing the bulk *** this work,we investigate the influence of the sign of coupling coefficient on the topological property of the system and find that type-I Weyl points can be realized by introducing a negative coupling between the stacking layers of the designed photonic *** propose a new strategy to construct a type-I Weyl system by stacking the hexagonal photonic *** from the topological nontrivial photonic system with a positive coefficient,the negative couplings in the photonic system are realized by adding another resonating site between stacking *** theoretically demonstrate that the effective coupling between the resonating sites in adjacent layers sign-flips through the judicious design of the nearest coupling strength and eigenfrequency of the additional *** surface states at opposite boundaries of the proposed system have opposite group velocities,which is the feature of type-I Weyl *** study provides a new method of exploring topologically protected photonic systems and developing possible topological devices.
