Colonization and Probiotic Effect of Metschnikowia sp. C14 in the Intestine of Juvenile Sea Cucumber, Apostichopus japonicus

Viable cell count was used to determine whether Metschnikowia sp.C14 can colonize the intestine of juvenile sea cucumber Apostichopus *** cucumber individuals were divided into two groups,which were fed the control diet for 38 days or the C14-supplemented diet at 105 cells g−1 diet for 28 days,then the control diet from day 29 to day *** number of C14 cells in the intestine of sea cucumber fed the C14-supplemented diet significantly increased from day 7 to day 28,and decreased from day 29 to day *** cucumber fed with the diet containing C14 showed a significant increase in trypsin activity and lipase activity from day 21 to day 33 compared with the *** C14 significantly improved the phagocytic activity and respiratory burst in coelomocytes from day 21 to day 35 and from day 14 to day 38,*** addition,there was an obvious enhancement in lysozyme activity(from day 21 to day 38 or day 33),phenoloxidase activity(from day 21 to day 28)and total nitric oxide synthase activity(from day 14 to day 38)in coelomic fluid supernatant and/or coelomocyte cell lysate supernatant compared with the *** were significant positive correlations between the number of C14 cells colonizing the intestine and trypsin activity of the intestine,lysozyme activity of the coelomic fluid supernatant and coelomocyte lysate supernatant from sea *** data suggested that the number of C14 cells should be maintained at 105 cfu(colony-forming units)g−1 intestine material for the maximum benefit.

Vermicompost:In situ retardant of antibiotic resistome accumulation in cropland soils

The dissemination of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)in soil has become a global environmental *** is gaining prominence in agricultural practices as a soil amendment to improve soil ***,its impact on soil ARGs remains unclear when it occurs in *** comprehensively explored the evolution and fate of ARGs and their hosts in the field soil profiles under vermicompost application for more than *** application increased several ARG loads in soil environment but decreased the high-risk bla-ARGs(bla_(ampC),bla_(NDM),and bla_(GES-1))by log(0.04-0.43).ARGs in soil amended with vermicompost primarily occurred in topsoil(approximately 1.04-fold of unfertilized soil),but it is worth noting that their levels in the 40-60 cm soil layer were the same or even less than in the unfertilized *** microbial community structure changed in soil profiles after vermicompost *** application altered the microbial community structure in soil profiles,showing that the dominant bacteria(i.e.,Proteobacteria,Actinobacteriota,Firmicutes)were decreased 2.62%-5.48%with the increase of soil depth.A network analysis further revealed that most of ARG dominant host bacteria did not migrate from surface soil to deep *** particular,those host bacteria harboring high-risk bla-ARGs were primarily concentrated in the surface *** study highlights a lower risk of the propagation of ARGs caused by vermicompost application and provides a novel approach to reduce and relieve the dissemination of ARGs derived from animals in agricultural production.

Spatial distribution of bacterial resistance towards antibiotics of rural sanitation system in China and its potential link with diseases incidence

Chinese government is vigorously promoting toilet renovation in rural areas to reduce the risk of human feces exposure,which would cause infectious diseases,especially antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)and ***,the distribution of ARGs in human feces from different regions of China remained *** is not yet known how the survival of ARGs after toilet treatment is associated with the regional infection ***,we investigated the prevalence of ARGs in human feces in rural areas of China and their potential relationship with infectious diseases for the first *** results showed that there were still high ARGs residues in human feces after rural toilet treatment,especially tetM-01 and ermB with average relative abundance as high as 1.21×10^(−1)(Eastern)and 1.56×10^(−1)(Northern),*** a large regional scale,the significant differences in human feces resistomeswere mainly shaped by the toilet types,TN,NH_(3)-N,and the bacterial community.A critical finding was that toilets still cannot effectively decrease the pathogenicity risk in human *** significant positive relationship(P<0.05)between infectious diseases and ARGs can infer that ARGs in human feces exposure might be a critical path for enhancing the incidence of diseases,as these ARGs hinder the effectiveness of antibiotics.

Exogenous strigolactones promote lateral root growth by reducing the endogenous auxin level in rapeseed

Strigolactones(SLs)are newly discovered plant hormones which regulate the normal development of different plant organs,especially root *** root formation of rapeseed seedlings before winter has great effects on the plant growth and seed ***,we treated the seedlings of Zhongshuang 11(ZS11),an elite conventional rapeseed cultivar,with different concentrations of GR24(a synthetic analogue of strigolactones),and found that a low concentration(0.18μmol L–1)of GR24 could significantly increase the lateral root growth,shoot growth,and root/shoot ratio of ***-Seq analysis of lateral roots at 12 h,1 d,4 d,and 7 d after GR24 treatment showed that 2301,4626,1595,and 783 genes were significantly differentially expressed,*** enrichment analysis revealed that the plant hormone transduction pathway,tryptophan metabolism,and the phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathway were ***,transcription factors,including AP2/ERF,AUX/IAA,NAC,MYB,and WRKY,were up-regulated at 1 d after GR24 *** profiling further demonstrated that the amounts of various metabolites,such as indole-3-acetic acid(IAA)and cis-zeatin were drastically *** particular,the concentrations of endogenous IAA significantly decreased by 52.4 and 75.8%at 12 h and 1 d after GR24 treatment,*** study indicated that low concentrations of exogenous SLs could promote the lateral root growth of rapeseed through interaction with other phytohormones,which provides useful clues for the effects of SLs on root architecture and crop productivity.

Screening of drought resistance indices and evaluation of drought resistance in cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.)

Simultaneous recovery of phosphorus and nitrogen from liquid digestate by vacuum membrane distillation with permeate fractional condensation

A vacuum membrane distillation(VMD)process with permeate fractional condensation on membrane downstream has been developed for simultaneous recovery of phosphorus and nitrogen from liquid *** polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)membrane flux could reach 6000 g·m-2·h-1 with the rejection efficiency of total phosphorus(TP)over 0.99,under the condition of flowrate being 120 L·h-1 and temperature being 40°*** fouling occurred with a film of organics and microorganism deposited on the surface of the *** flux could be reversed after the membrane was rinsed by *** feed temperature and flowrate could improve the membrane flux,while hardly affect the rejection efficiency of total *** concentration of TP could reach 1600 mg·L-1 after membrane distillation,which is about 5 times of that in initial liquid *** the downstream of the membrane,some of the permeate vapor was condensed under the vacuum condition and most of water was collected *** remaining vapor enriched with total nitrogen(TN)was compressed and pumped to the atmospheric condition to *** TN concentration in atmospheric condensate was as high as 7000 mg·L-1 with the process separation factor for ammonia being enhanced to 114.

Estimating EC and ionic EC contribution percentage of nutrient solution based on ionic activity

Passivation remediation of weakly alkaline Cd-contaminated soils using combined treatments of biochar and sepiolite

Background Cadmium(Cd) pollution in agricultural soils has become a priority environmental concern globally. A reasonable application of passivators is critical to address the problem. In this study, we examined the remediation effects of rice husk biochar(r BC) and sepiolite(Sep) as single and combined(r BC + Sep) treatments on Cd pollution in a weakly alkaline soil using three maize cultivars(Liyu 16, Zhengdan 958, and Sanbei 218) as test crops. We also explained the mechanisms involved in the remediation *** The pseudo-second-order kinetic equation and Langmuir model could well describe the adsorption process of r BC + Sep for Cd2+. Compared with the control treatment(CK), soil available Cd concentration decreased by 29.51–36.34% under r BC + Sep treatment(p 0.05).Conclusions The application of 0.2% r BC + 0.5% Sep composite passivation material to weakly alkaline Cd-contaminated soil can effectively reduce the Cd concentration of soil and maize.
