Mutations of voltage-gated sodium channel contribute to pyrethroid resistance in Panonychus citri

Insecticide resistance in Panonychus citri is a major obstacle to mite control in citrus *** insecticides are continually used to control mites in China,although resistance to pyrethroids has evolved in some ***,the resistance to the pyrethroid fenpropathrin was investigated and 7 out of 8 field-collected populations of P citri exhibited a high level of resistance,ranging from 171-fold to 15391-fold higher than the susceptible(SS)comparison *** voltage-gated sodium channel(VGSC)mutations were identified in the tested populations:L1031V,f1747L,and *** sequencing was used to evaluate the frequency of these mutations in the 19 field populations.L1031V and f1751I were present in all populations at frequencies of 11.6%-82.1%and 0.5%-31.8%,respectively,whereas the f1747L mutation was only present in 12 populations from Chongqing,Sichuan,Guangxi,and Yunnan *** of these mutations singly or in combination into transgenic flies significantly increased their resistance to fenpropathrin and these flies also exhibited reduced mortality after exposure to the pyrethroids permethrin andβ-*** citri VGSC homology modeling and ligand docking indicate that f1747 and f1751 form direct binding contacts with pyrethroids,which are lost with mutation,whereas L1031 mutation may diminish pyrethroid effects through an allosteric ***,the results provide molecular markers for monitoring pest resistance to pyrethroids and offer new insights into the basis of pyrethroid actions on sodium channels.

Comparison of Extrapolation and Interpolation Methods for Estimating Daily Photosynthetically Active Radiation(PAR)——A Case Study of the Poyang Lake National Nature Reserve,China

Measurements of photosynthetically active radiation （PAR）, which are indispensable for simulating plant growth and productivity, are generally very scarce. This study aimed to compare two extrapolation and one interpolation methods for estimating daily PAR reaching the earth surface within the Poyang Lake national nature reserve, China. The daily global solar radiation records at Nanchang meteorological station and daily sunshine duration measurements at nine meteorological stations around Poyang Lake were obtained to achieve the objective. Two extrapolation methods of PARs using recorded and estimated global solar radiation at Nanchang station and three stations （Yongxiu, Xingzi and Duchang） near the nature reserve were carried out, respectively, and a spatial interpolation method combining triangulated irregular network （TIN） and inverse distance weighting （IDW） was imple- mented to estimate daily PAR. The performance evaluation of the three methods using the PARs measured at Dahuchi Conservation Station （day number of measurement = 105 days） revealed that：（1） the spatial interpolation method achieved the best PAR estima- tion （R2 - 0.89, s.c. = 0.99, f= 830.02, P 〈 0.001 ）; （2） the extrapolation method from Nanchang station obtained an unbiased result （R2 = 0.88, s.c. = 0.99, f = 745.29, P 〈 0.001）; however, （3） the extrapolation methods from Yongxiu, Xingzi and Duchang stations were not suitable for this specific site for their biased estimations. Considering the assumptions and principles supporting the extrapolation and interpolation methods, the authors conclude that the spatial interpolation method produces more reliable results than the extrapolation methods and holds the greatest potential in all tested methods, and more PAR measurements should be recorded to evaluate the seasonal, yearly and spatial stabilities of these models for their application to the whole nature reserve of Poyang Lake.

our work focuses on the assessment of trends,erosion states and causal risk factors for soil erosion of the Asfalou watershed through the use of the Priority Actions Program/Regional Activity Center(PAP/RAC).This qualitative study model for water erosion makes it possible to assess susceptibility and determine potential fragile areas in order to diagnose the state of soil *** adopted the PAP/RAC crossed matrices,the geographic information system(GIS)and remote sensing(RS)to develop the classical *** method is based on three main approaches:predictive,descriptive and *** soil types,slope length(LS)and climatic factors into our model,including rainfall erosivity(R),slope exposure,soil moisture index(SMI)and land surface temperature(LST),improved the reli-ability of our *** correlation analysis identified these factors that explain erosion states and the risk of soil *** coefficients of determination(R2)of the various erosive states resulting from the modified PAP/RAC approach explain respectively 98.30%,77%and 49.3%of the observed variability of the erosive *** factors provide information on the current state of soil degradation depending on the degree of influence of the different factors that control *** descriptive approach has shown that soil loss manifests itself in different forms,whether for sheet erosion(L)and ravines(C1)succes-sively affecting 79.95%and 17.84%of the *** integration approach identifies factors and areas requiring intervention to counter the effects of soil erosion in the Asfalou watershed effectively and sustainably.

Despite great progress in data sharing that has been made in China in recent decades,cultural,policy,and technological challenges have prevented Chinese researchers from maximizing the availability of their data to the global change science *** achieve full and open exchange and sharing of scientific data,Chinese research funding agencies need to recognize that preserva-tion of,and access to,digital data are central to their mission,and must support these tasks *** Chinese government also needs to develop better mechanisms,incentives,and rewards,while scientists need to change their behavior and culture to recognize the need to maximize the usefulness of their data to society as well as to other *** Chinese research communi-ty and individual researchers should think globally and act personally to promote a paradigm of open,free,and timely data sharing,and to increase the effectiveness of knowledge development.

The degradation of the permafrost regions, resulting from intensive anthropogenic activities and global warming, has led to the loss of ecosystem services and is threating human well-being. Nevertheless, the real ecosystem service values and their complete zoning system in the permafrost regions have received insufficient attention. Research gaps between the identification of permafrost-based ecosystem services and ecosystem management are seriously constraining the development of cryospheric science. Thus, an ecosystem service zoning framework that links ecosystem services with human welfares is proposed to solve the abovementioned challenges in the permafrost regions of China. The three tiered zoning framework for ecosystem services, consisting of zoning goals, principles, hierarchy, methodology, and nomenclature, is proposed for the permafrost regions of China. A combined method, i.e., GIS spatial tools, the location entropy analysis model, and ecosystem services assessment, was employed to distinguish ecosystem conditions, ecosystem service supply, and beneficiaries into these three-grade ecosystem service zones. Hierarchical and dynamic zoning could clarify protection priorities of ecosystems and ecosystem services in terms of regions, grades, and types. The framework could contribute to sustainable management of ecosystem services in the cryosphere.

The local climate zone(LCZ)scheme has been widely utilized in regional climate modeling,urban planning,and thermal comfort ***,existing LCz classification methods face challenges in characterizing complex urban structures and human activities involving local climatic *** this study,we proposed a novel LCZ mapping method that fully uses space-borne multi-view and diurnal observations,*** Ziyuan-3 stereo imageries(2.1 m)and Luojia-1 nighttime light(NTL)data(130 m).firstly,we performed land cover classification using multiple machine learning methods(*** forest(Rf)and XGBoost algorithms)and various features(***,textural,multi-view features,3D urban structure parameters(USPs),and NTL).In addition,we developed a set of new cumulative elevation indexes to improve building roughness *** indexes can estimate building roughness directly from fused point clouds generated by both along-and across-track ***,based on the land cover and building roughness results,we extracted 2D and 3D USPs for different land covers and used multi-classifiers to perform LCZ *** results for Beijing,China,show that our method yielded satisfactory accuracy for LCZ mapping,with an overall accuracy(oA)of 90.46%.The overall accuracy of land cover classification using 3D USPs generated from both along-and across-track modes increased by 4.66%,compared to that of using the single along-track ***,the oA value of LCZ mapping using 2D and 3D USPs(88.18%)achieved a better result than using only 2D USPs(83.83%).The use of NTL data increased the classification accuracy of LCZs E(bare rock or paved)and f(bare soil or sand)by 6.54%and 3.94%,*** refined LCZ classification achieved through this study will not only contribute to more accurate regional climate modeling but also provide valuable guidance for urban planning initiatives aimed at enhancing thermal comfort and overall livabillity in urban areas

In order to shed light upon the nature and mechanism of 4f-3d magnetic exchange interactions, a series of binuclear complexes of lanthanide（3＋） and chromium（3＋） with the general formula [Ln（L）5（H2o）2Cr（CN）6]·mL· nH2o （Ln=La （1）, Ce （2）, Pr （3）, Nd （4）; x=5, y=2, m=1 or 2, n=2 or 2.5; L=2-pyrrolidinone） and [Ln（L）4（H2o）3Cr（CN）6] ·nH2o （Ln=Sm （5）, Eu （6）, Gd （7）, Tb （8）, Dy （9）, Er （10）; x=4, y=3, m=0, n= 1.5 or 2.0; L=2-pyrrolidinone） were prepared and the X-ray crystal structures of complexes 2, 6 and 7 were determined. All the compounds consist of a Ln-CN-Cr unit, in which Ln^3＋ in a square antiprism environment is bridged to an octahedral coordinated Cr^3＋ ion through a cyano group. The magnetic properties of the complexes 3 and 6-10 show an overall antiferromagnetic behavior. The fitting to the experimental magnetic susceptibilities of 7 give g= 1.98, J=0.40 cm^-1, zJ＇= -0.21 cm^-1 on the basis of a binuclear spin system （Scd=7/2, Scr=3/2）, revealing an intra-molecular Gd^3＋-Cr^3＋ ferromagnetic interaction and an inter-molecular antiferromagnetic interaction. for 7 the calculation of quantum chemical density functional theory （DfT）, combined with the broken symmetry approach, showed that the calculated spin coupling constant was 20.3 cm^-1, supporting the observation of weak ferromagnetic intra-molecular interaction in 7. The spin density distributions of 7 in both the high spin ground state and the broken symmetry state were obtained, and the spin coupling mechanism between Gd^3＋ and Cr^3＋ was discussed.

Mapping rice cropping systems using Landsat-derived Renormalized Index of Normalized Difference Vegetation Index （RNDVI） in the Poyang Lake Region, China

Mapping rice cropping systems with optical imagery in multiple cropping regions is challenging due to cloud contamination and data availability; development of a phenology-based algorithm with a reduced data demand is essential. In this study, the Landsat-derived Renorma- lized Index of Normalized Difference Vegetation Index （RNDVI） was proposed based on two temporal windows in which the NDVI values of single and early （or late） rice display inverse changes, and then applied to discriminate rice cropping systems. The Poyang Lake Region （PLR）, characterized by a typical cropping system of single cropping rice （SCR, or single rice） and double cropping rice （DCR, including early rice and late rice）, was selected as a testing area. The results showed that NDVI data derived from Landsat time-series at eight to sixteen days captures the temporal development of paddy rice. There are two key phenological stages during the overlapping growth period in which the NDVI values of SCR and DCR change inversely, namely the ripening phase of early rice and the growing phase of single rice as well as the ripening stage of single rice and the growing stage of late rice. NDVI derived from scenes in two temporal windows, specifically early August and early october, was used to construct the RNDVI for discriminating rice cropping systems in the polder area of the PLR, China. Comparison with ground truth data indicates high classification accuracy. The RNDVI approach highlights the inverse variations of NDVI values due to the difference of rice growth between two temporal windows. This makes the discrimination of rice cropping systems straightforward as it only needs to distinguish whether the candidate rice typeis in the period of growth （RNDVI 〈 0） or senescence （RNDVI 〉 0）.

Petrology and phase equilibrium of newly found eclogites from Kekesu Valley in eastern part of southwest Tianshan HP-UHP metamorphic belt,China,and its tectonic significance

Eclogites and omphacite-bearing blueschists have been newly found in the eastern segment of the southwest Tianshan orogenic belt, Xinjiang, northwest China. After detailed petrological study, three samples including one fresh eclogite TK003, one blueschist sample TK026-8 and one retrograded eclogite TK027, were selected for phase equilibrium modeling under NC（K）MnfMASHo （N20-Cao-K20-Mno-feo-Mgo-A1203-Sio2-H：o-o） system, by thermocalc 3.33 software. Composition analyses of garnets in these three samples show typical growth zoning with Xpy and Xgrs increasing, Xspss decreasing from core to rim. Pseudosection modeling of the garnet zonation reflects that the eclogites and blueschist experienced a similar P-T evo- lution trajectory, with a near iso-baric heating in the early stage, and reached eclogite facies metamorphic field with peak P-T regime of 480-515~C, 2.00-2.30 GPa. Subsequently the rocks experienced an early iso-thermal decompression retrograde stage with P-T conditions of 515-519~C, 1.78-1.93 GPa. Variations of mineralogy and modes of these rocks are probably due to different retrograde paths as a consequence of different bulk-rock composition, as well as a variation in fluid activity during exhumation. P-T calculation and a peak geothermal gradient of 6-7~C/km indicate HP rocks in the Kekesu Valley experienced cold subducted eclogite facies metamorphism. Thus a huge oceanic subduction eclogite facies metamorphic belt in southwest Tianshan has been recognized, extending from the Kekesu Valley in the east to the Muzhaerte Valley in the west for nearly 200 kin. However, UHP evidence has not been found in the Kekesu terrane, perhaps because the slab in east part of southwest Tianshan did not subduct into such a great depth.

A case-based method of selecting covariates for digital soil mapping

Selecting a proper set of covariates is one of the most important factors that influence the accuracy of digital soil mapping(DSM).The statistical or machine learning methods for selecting DSM covariates are not available for those situations with limited *** solve the problem,this paper proposed a case-based method which could formalize the covariate selection knowledge contained in practical DSM *** proposed method trained Random forest(Rf)classifiers with DSM cases extracted from the practical DSM applications and then used the trained classifiers to determine whether each one potential covariate should be used in a new DSM *** this study,we took topographic covariates as examples of covariates and extracted 191 DSM cases from 56 peer-reviewed journal articles to evaluate the performance of the proposed case-based method by Leave-one-out cross *** with a novices’commonly-used way of selecting DSM covariates,the proposed case-based method improved more than 30%accuracy according to three quantitative evaluation indices(i.e.,recall,precision,and f1-score).The proposed method could be also applied to selecting the proper set of covariates for other similar geographical modeling domains,such as landslide susceptibility mapping,and species distribution modeling.
