Background The onsets of needling sensation introduced by acupuncture stimulus can vary widely from subject to subject. This should be explicitly accounted for by the model blood oxygenation-level dependent （BOLD） time course used in general linear model （GLM） analysis to obtain more consistent across-subject group results. However, in standard GLM analysis, the model BOLD time course obtained by convolving a canonical hemodynamic response function with an experimental paradigm time course is assumed identical across subjects. Although some added-on properties to the model BOLD time course, such as temporal and dispersion derivatives, may be used to account for different BOLD response onsets, they can only account for the BOLD onset deviations to the extent of less than one repetition time （TR）. Methods In this study, we explicitly manipulated the onsets of model BOLD time course by shifting it with -2, -1, or 1 TR and used these temporally shifted BOLD model to analyze the functional magnetic resonance imaging （fMRI） data obtained from three acupuncture fMRI experiments with GLM analysis. One involved acupuncture stimulus on left ST42 acupoint and the other two on left GB40 and left BL64 acupoints. Results The model BOLD time course with temporal shifts, in addition to temporal and dispersion derivatives, could result in better statistical power of the data analysis in terms of the average correlation coefficients between the used BOLD models and extracted BOLD responses from individual subject data and the T-values of the activation clusters in the grouped random effects. Conclusions The GLM analysis with ordinary BOLD model failed to catch the large variability of the onsets of the BOLD responses associated with the acupuncture needling sensation. Shifts in time with more than a TR on model BOLD time course might be required to better extract the acupuncture stimulus-induced BOLD activities from individual fMRI data.

This study attempts to segment cultural resort tourism market using a cluster analysis based on delineated perceptions of destination image factors that came to the Cultural Resort of the Jiang in Taiwan, have the famous history and cultural events between Taiwan and the mainland. This study also used the travel cost method to estimate the On-Site Poisson recreation demand function, and examined the relationships between destination image clusters and recreation demand. Finally, this study measured the consumer surplus (CS) between destination image clusters for the Cultural Resort of the Jiang. This study obtained four empirical results. First, a cluster analysis identified four clustered segments for six destination image factors in which the multi-image seekers were found to be the most important segment. Second, destination image clusters differ significantly in terms of cultural resort demands. Third, the CS values ranged between $99.81 to 117.34 for average annual visitor numbers to the Cultural Resort of The Jiang. Fourth, the "multi-image clusters" has the highest CS values than other destination image clusters.

The purpose of this paper is to apply the structure time series model to forecast the REITs’ returns in US by using monthly data from January 1994 to November 2009. The primary advantage of this model is not only taking into account trends, seasonal factors and cycle effect but also that reflects the realistic situation of REITs, therefore, to bring about more accurate short- term forecasting. Empirical results indicate that cycle is much more explainable to the returns of industrial REIT and manufactured home REIT because industrial REIT and manufactured home REIT are lower and stable returns than other REITs. And the impact of shock occurred in September 2008, the industrial REIT and manufactured home REIT’s returns are slowly decreasing but stable. Furthermore, in accordance with the model forecasting results, a directional path was precise forecast from March 2009 to November 2009 period belonging to in-sample forecast. And we also obtain out-of-sample industrial REIT and manufactured home REIT’s returns in 2010, they are decreasing gradually but stable and low risk relatively. This important information can provide investors with the best investment choice when investors are in the face of economic shock.

AIM： To assess the correlation between the serum hep-cidin-25 level and left ventricular mass ***： This study was a cross-sectional study conducted between March 2009 and April 2010. Demo-graphic and biochemical data, including the serum hep-cidin-25 level, were collected for chronic kidney disease （CKD） patients. Two-dimensional echocardiography was performed to determine the left ventricle mass （LVM）, left ventricular mass index （LVMI）, interventricular septum thickness （IVSd）, left ventricle posterior wall thickness （LVPW）, right ventricular dimension （RVD）, left atrium （LA） and ejection fraction （EF）.RESULTS： A total of 146 patients with stage 1 to 5 CKD were enrolled. Serum hepcidin-25 levels were 16.51 ± 5.2, 17.59 ± 5.32, 17.38 ± 6.47, 19.98 ± 4.98 and 22.03 ± 4.8 ng/mL for stage 1 to 5 CKD patients, respectively. Hepcidin-25 level was independently pre-dicted by the serum ferritin level （β = 0.6, P = 0.002） and the estimated glomerular fltration rate （β = -0.48, P = 0.04）. There were negative correlations between the serum hepcidin level and the LVM and LVMI （ P = 0.04 and P = 0.005, respectively）. Systolic blood pressure （BP） was positively correlated with the LVMI （ P = 0.005）. In the multivariate analysis, a decreased serum hepci-din-25 level was independently associated with a higher LVMI （β = -0.28, 95%CI： -0.48 - -0.02, P = 0.006） after adjusting for body mass index, age and systolic ***： A lower serum hepcidin level is associ-ated with a higher LVMI in CKD patients. Low hepcidin levels may be independently correlated with unfavor-able cardiovascular outcomes in this population.

A theoretical analysis of heat transfer characteristics is presented for the fully developed laminar flow of the incompressible gas in the triangular microchannels heated unsymmetrically with constant axial heat flux. Through solving the energy equation with temperature jump boundary conditions in slip flow regime by virtue of a computation- oriented method of the orthonormal function analysis, the dimensionless temperature profiles and the average Nusselt number for various thermal boundary conditions are obtained. The effects of Knudsen number, aspect ratio, and thermal boundary conditions on the heat transfer are discussed. The calculated results show that the orthonormal function method can be used to study the heat transfer characteristics of the unsymmetrically heated triangular microchannels. The average Nusselt number in triangular microchannels is lower for slip flow than for no-slip flow, and decreases with increasing Knudsen number. The aspect ratios and thermal boundary conditions of triangular microchannels have significant influences on the change of average Nusselt numbers with the increase in the Knudsen number. For the equilateral triangular microchannels, the decrease of the Nusselt number ratio due to temperature jump is smaller at large Knudsen number and larger at small Knudsen number on the boundary condition of bottom wall heated alone as compared with the one on the boundary condition of two heated hypotenuse walls. The correlations of the average Nusselt number with the Knudsen number for equilateral triangular microchannels are obtained.

Metal-organic frameworks （MOFs） have been emerging as important multifunctional hybrid materials, not only due to the diversify framework architectures, but also contribute to the rich interactions among metals, ligands and guests. Nitro explosives have important influences tbr environmental protection and national homeland security, in this review, a brief description of luminescent MOFs is presented, accompanied by a short comment on the four types of metal-based luminescent MOFs as sensing materials for nitro explosives detection. Then the trends and challenges of luminescent MOFs as sensing materials ibr nitro explosives are also prospected.

The most neutron-deficient isotopes215,216 U were produced in the complete-fusion reaction ^(180)W(^(40)Ar, 4-5n)^(215,216) U. Evaporation residues recoiled from the target were separated in-flight from the primary beam by the gas-filled recoil separator SHANS and subsequently identified on the basis of correlated α-decay chains. Two α-decaying states were identified in ^(216)U, one for the ground state and the other for the isomeric state with 8+(πh_(9/2)πf_(7/2)) configuration. The α-decay properties for ^(215,216)U and the systematics of 8+isomeric state in N = 124, 126 isotones were investigated.

Peramivir was a novel and highly potent neuraminidase(NA) inhibitor for the treatment of influenza A and B. However, it exhibited a very low oral bioavailability(only 3%) due to the high polarity(log P of-1.4) and the low membrane permeability across the intestine. To utilize the PEPT1-mediated prodrug strategy to improve the oral absorption and develop the oral alternative, seven amino acid ester prodrugs and seven amino acid amide prodrugs have been synthesized. The permeability of these prodrugs across Caco-2 cells were screened. Peramivr-(CH_2)_2-l-Val and Peramivir-l-Ile were of the highest permeability in ester prodrugs and amide prodrugs, respectively, and then they were selected for further studies. Glycylsarcosine(gly-sar) uptake by Caco-2 could be inbihited by Peramivir-(CH_2)_2-l-Val and Peramivir-l-Ile in a concentration-dependent manner, and the IC 50 was 1.34 ± 0.31 m M and 1.78 ± 0.48 m M, respectively. The direct uptake of Peramivir-(CH_2)_2-l-Val and Peramivirl-Ile in MDCK-PEPT1 cells were significantly higher than in MDCK mock cells, and could be markedly inhibited by gly-sar. The uptake of Peramivir-(CH_2)_2-l-Val and Peramivir-l-Ile(0.01 to 50 m M) in MDCK-hPEPT1 cells conformed to Michaelis–Menten Equation. The oral bioavailability of peramivir was 65.3% and 37.3% after the oral administration of Peramivir-(CH_2)_2-l-Val and Peramivir-l-Ile to rats, respectively. The oral absorption and bioactivation of Peramivir-(CH_2)_2-l-Val was rapid and extensive, and no Peramivir-(CH_2)_2-l-Val was found in plasma. Because the amide bond was relatively stable, Peramivir-l-Ile could not be totally converted to the parent drug in vivo. Peramivir-(CH_2)_2-l-Val with good oral profiles and rapid bioactivation might be a promising prodrug for the further clinic development. The present study also corroborated the idea that the PEPT1-mediated prodrug approach has enormous promise for improving the oral absorption of poorly absorbed drug.
