A model for predicting the segregation directions of binary Geldart B particle mixtures in bubbling fluidized beds

In gas fluidization processes involving different types of particles,the mixing or segregation behavior of the solid mixture is crucial to the overall outcome of the *** study develops a model to predict the segregation directions of binary mixtures of Geldart B particles with density and size differences in bubbling fluidized *** proposed model was established by combining the particle segregation model,a previous particle segregation model,with a derived bed voidage equation of the bubbling fluidization based on the two-phase *** model was then analyzed with different function graphs of the model equations under various *** results indicated that an increase in gas velocity or volume fraction of larger particles would strengthen size segregation,causing the larger and less dense components to *** validate the model,42 sets of data collected from 6 independent literature sources were compared with the predictions of the *** the gas velocities were below 3.2 times the minimum gas velocity,the predictions were consistent with experimental *** study has shed new light on the mechanisms of particle segregation in binary fluidized systems and provides a theoretical foundation for designing and manipulating gas-solid fluidized reactors.

Bastnaesite((Ce,La,Pr,Nd)CO_(3)F) is a significant light rare earth mineral found in nature,known for its fine-grained *** is commonly employed for the recovery of fine-grained bastnaesite *** serve as an essential flotation reagent that enhance the surface hydrophobicity of target minerals.A novel collector,N-hydroxy-9-octadecenamide(N-OH-9-ODA),was synthesised in this study.N-OH-9-ODA exhibits superior selectivity compared to the traditional collector oleic acid in the flotation separation of bastnaesite and *** experimental and co mputational results indicate that N-OH-9-ODA exhibits superior selectivity due to its higher adsorption affinity for bastnaesite surface compared to fluorite *** zeta potential and the binding energies of the Ce 3d peaks in the X-ray photoelectron spectrum(XPS) of bastnaesite surface exhibit significant ***,fluorite surface demonstrates minimal alterations in its zeta potential and the binding energies of the Ca 2p peaks in its XPS after its interaction with N-OH-9-ODA.

Frothers facilitate the reduction of bubbles size by preventing bubbles coalescence and produce more stable *** collision probability of the bubbles and particles substantially increases by decreasing bubble *** the same volume system,fewer bubbles result from a distribution of large-sized bubbles,and more bubbles result from a distribution of small-sized *** this research,fundamental two-phase frother characterization parameters were aimed to link with three-phase coal and talc flotation *** this purpose,the effect of single and dual frother systems on inhibiting bubble coalescence was investigated with methyl isobutyl carbinol(MIBC),isooctanol(2 ethyl hexanol),pine oil,and Dowfroth *** on the results of single frothers,isooctanol at the lowest critical coalescence concentration(CCC)value of 6×10^(−6) achieved the smallest bubbles with Sauter mean diameter of 0.80 *** blending Dowfroth 250 and pine oil,the bubbles size decreased significantly,reaching 0.45 *** the highest recoveries in coal flotation were obtained in single and frother blends where the bubbles size was measured as the smallest in two-phase system,and such a relationship was not found for talc flotation.

The effect of alumina occurrence form on the metallurgical properties of both hematite and magnetite pellets was investigated at the same Al_(2)O level of 2 wt.%,including reduction index(RI),low-temperature reduction disintegration index(RDI),reduction swelling index(RSI),and high-temperature softening-dripping *** mineralogy of fired pellets was also studied to reveal the influence of alumina occurrence form on the phase composition and *** the results,the alumina occurrence form presents tremendous impacts on the metallurgical perfor-mance of both magnetite and hematite *** of all alumina occurrence forms contributes to inferior reducibility of pellets,especially in the case of gibbsite for magnetite pellets with a RI of 58.4%and kaolinite for hematite pellets with a RI of 56.8%.However,addition of all alumina occurrence forms improves the RDI of magnetite pellets,while there is no significant difference among various alumina occurrence *** contrast,alumina occurrence forms have little influence on the RDI of hematite *** presence of free alumina,gibbsite,and kaolinite tends to improve the RSI of hematite and magnetite pellets,whereas hercynite gives the opposite trend with a RSI of 25.6%.For softening-dripping performance of magnetite pellets,all alumina occurrence forms contribute to narrower softening-melting ***,alumina,gibbsite,and kaolinite give narrower softening-dripping interval,at 229,217,and 88℃,respectively,whereas addition of hercynite results in the largest melting range at 276℃ due to its high melting *** hematite pellets,free alumina,gibbsite,and hercynite tend to enlarge melting range,whereas kaolinite contributes to lower dripping temperature of 1148℃ and narrow softening-dripping interval of 88℃ due to the formation of a greater amount of slag phase at high temperatures.

The conversion and storage of photothermal energy using phase change materials(PCMs)represent an optimal approach for harnessing clean and sustainable solar ***,we encapsulated polyethylene glycol(PEG)in montmorillonite aerogels(3D-Mt)through vacuum impregnation to prepare 3D-Mt/PEG composite *** used as a support matrix,3D-Mt can effectively prevent PEG leakage and act as a flame-retardant barrier to reduce the flammability of ***,3D-Mt/PEG demonstrates outstanding shape retention,increased thermal energy storage density,and commendable thermal and chemical *** phase transition enthalpy of 3D-Mt/PEG can reach 167.53 J/g and remains stable even after 50 heating-cooling ***,the vertical sheet-like structure of 3D-Mt establishes directional heat transport channels,facilitating efficient phonon *** configuration results in highly anisotropic thermal conductivities that ensure swift thermal responses and efficient heat *** study addresses the shortcomings of PCMs,including the issues of leakage and inadequate flame *** achieves the development and design of 3D-Mt/PEG with ultrahigh strength,superior flame retardancy,and directional heat ***,this work offers a design strategy for the preparation of high-performance composite *** 3D-Mt/PEG with vertically aligned and well-ordered array structure developed in this research shows great potential for thermal management and photothermal conversion applications.

UHP Mg-Ge alloys was recently found to provide excellent corrosion *** paper provides new insights on the mechanism of improved corrosion resistance of UHP Mg-Ge alloys in Hanks’*** studied UHP Mg-0.5Ge and UHP Mg-1Ge alloys showed superior corrosion resistance compared to UHP Mg and WE43,with the Mg-1Ge exhibiting the best corrosion *** exceptional corrosion resistance of the UHP alloy is attributed to(i)Mg_(2)Ge’s ability to suppress cathodic kinetics,(ii)Ge’s capability to accelerate the formation of a highly passive layer,and the(iii)low amounts of corrosion-accelerating impurities.

Naturally occurring hematite has been widely studied in the Fenton-like system for water pollutant remediation due to its abundance and ***,its inadequate catalytic activity results in difficulty in effectively degrading pollutants in the catalytic degradation system that it ***,we constructed a photochemical system composed of hematite with{001}facet of high activity facet and low-cost and non-toxic oxalic acid(OA)for the removal of various types of *** removal rate for the degradation of metronidazole,tetracycline hydrochloride,Rhodamine B,and hexavalent chromium by hematite nanoplate with the exposed{001}facet activating OA under visible light irradiation was 4.75,2.25,2.33,and 2.74 times than that by the exposed{110}facet,*** functional theory(DFT)calculation proved that the OA molecule was more easily adsorbed on the{001}facet of hematite than that on the{110}facet,which would favor the formation of the more Fe(Ⅲ)-OA complex and reactive *** addition,the reactive site of metronidazole for the attraction of radicals was identified on the basis of the DFT calculation on the molecular occupied orbitals,and the possible degradation pathway for metronidazole included carbon chain fracture,hydroxyethyl-cleavage,denitrogenation,and ***,this finding may offer a valuable direction in designing an efficient iron-based catalyst based on facet engineering for the improved activity of Fenton-like systems such as OA activation.

A molecular insight into coke formation process of vacuum residue in thermal cracking reaction

Understanding the coking behaviors has been considered to be really essential for developing better vacuum residue processing technologies.A battery of thermal cracking tests of typical vacuum residue at 410℃ with various reaction time were performed to evaluate the coke formation *** total yields of ideal components including naphtha,atmospheric gas oil(AGO)and vacuum gas oil(VGO)of thermal cracking reactions increased from 10.89%to 40.81%,and the conversion ratios increased from8.05%to 43.33%with increasing the reaction time from 10 to 70 *** asphaltene content increased from 12.14%to a maximum of 22.39%and then decreased,and this maximum of asphaltene content occurred at the end of the coking induction *** asphaltenes during the coking induction period,at the end and after coking induction period of those tested thermal cracking reactions were characterized to disclose the structure changing rules for coke formation process,and the coke formation pathways were discussed to reveal the coke formation process at molecular level.

Visible-light-driven photocatalysis is a promising technology for the treatment of dye *** this work,a novel photocatalyst of Kω-g-C_(3)N_(4) loaded on magnetic attapulgite(ATP)(K-g-C_(3)N_(4)@ATP-Fe_(3)O_(4))with excellent visible light photocatalytic properties and stability were successfully prepared and *** removal efficiency of K-g-C_(3)N_(4)@ATP-Fe_(3)O_(4) for malachite green(MG)was studied,and the degradation mechanism was analyzed and *** was found that the K_(5)-g-C_(3)N_(4)@ATP-Fe_(3)O_(4) photocatalyst possessed excellent degradation efficiency of over 98.0%for the MG dye wastewater under optimal ***,the K_(5)-g-C_(3)N_(4)@ATP-Fe_(3)O_(4) materials possessed good recyclability with a removal rate over 82%after 4 *** visible light condition,the K_(5)-g-C_(3)N_(4)@ATP-Fe_(3)O_(4) photocatalyst produce radicals of·OH and O_(2)^(-)to degrade the MG dyes,which was supported by electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)and radical trapping *** addition,the LC-MS analysis interpreted the degradation pathways and intermediates of MG in the *** findings in this work indicate that the prepared photocatalytic material has excellent degradation efficiency for MG and can be applied in dye wastewater treatment.
