The potential of Ca isotopes to trace subducted marine carbonates in deep mantle

Marine carbonates,the major carrier of carbon upon the upper crust,can be subducted into the Earth’s interior along with oceanic crust,and then returned to the surface through magmatism,which constitute the deep carbon *** process plays an important role in modulating the CO_(2) concentrations in the atmosphere over geologic time,and thus the forming of the habitable ***,identifying recycled marine carbonates in the mantle is critical to well understand the global deep carbon *** is one of the major constituent cations in marine carbonates and its isotopes may be a potential tracer for recycled marine carbonates in the *** further evaluate the capability and challenges of Ca isotopes as such a geochemical tracer,we reviewed the Ca isotopic compositions in important reservoirs and the behavior of Ca isotopes during high-temperature geological processes that are related to the deep carbon cycle,including plate subduction,mantle metasomatism,mantle partial melting,magma differentiation,*** studies show that carbonate-rich marine sediments have significantly lowerδ^(44/40) Ca than the Earth mantle,and metasomatism by such recycled materials can cause lighter Ca isotopic compositions in deep mantle-derived rocks than those of the depleted mantle and mid ocean ridge ***,the Ca isotopic fractionation during partial melting of mantle peridotites is small(~0.10‰)and the Ca isotopic fractionation during plate subduction and intermediate-mafic magma evolution is *** investigations suggest that Ca isotopes have great advances in tracing such recycled materials in the ***,other processes(such as the influence by partial melts of eclogites)may induce similar effects on mantle-derived rocks as subducted marine carbonates but still remains debated,and thus further investigations are strongly needed in the future.

Modulated waveforms for harmonic minimization of far-field signals in amplitude-modulated heating of the ionosphere

This paper establishes an amplitude modulation heating model, simulating the far-field radiation of ELF/VLF signals generated by modulation heating, as well as the specific location and longitudinal extent of the radiation source. We consider various modulation waveforms and find that square-wave modulation has the highest excitation efficiency for ELF/VLF signals, and that square-wave modulation with a smaller duty cycle(one-tenth that of the fundamental frequency, and the energy of higher-frequency harmonics can be negligibly small compared with those of the fundamental wave. It is a challenging task to achieve a balance between enhancing the excitation efficiency of ELF/VLF signals and also suppressing harmonics generated by the modulated heating process. This is because the harmonics are correspondingly enhanced as the excitation efficiency of the signals is increased. However, we find that under conditions of varying effective radiant power and modulation frequency, as long as the modulation waveform is unchanged, the energy ratio between the fundamental frequency signal generated by modulated heating and each harmonic is relatively fixed, with changes only in signal intensity and the location of the radiation source zone. This implies that one can first select modulation waveforms that make the signal less prone to distortion, then increase the effective radiated power to enhance the signal strength, without concern for harmonic interference of the fundamental signal.

Loose phrase extraction method is proposed and applied for phrase-based statistical ma- chine translation. The method extracts phrase pairs that are not strictly consistent with word align- ments. Two types of constraints on word positions are investigated for this method. Furthermore, n-best alignments are introduced for phrase extraction instead of the one-best. Experimental results show that the proposed approach outperforms the baseline system, Pharaoh system, for both one-best and n-best alignments.

Efficacy and safety of combined Kahook Dual Blade goniotomy with phacoemulsification in Chinese patients with primary open angle glaucoma

AIM:To report the one-year surgical outcome Kahook Dual Blade goniotomy combined with phacoemulsification(KDB-Phaco)in Chinese patients with primary open angle glaucoma(POAG).METHODS:This is a retrospective study included 43 eyes of 28 Chinese POAG patients with cataract who accepted KDB-Phaco and followed-up for *** pressure(IOP),glaucoma medications and surgical complications were *** 1 and success 2 was defined as 5-21 mm Hg and 5-18 mm Hg,and success plus was determined if additional criteria of IOP reduction≥20%from baseline was reached.A corrected IOP by adding 3 mm Hg for each medication was used to do correlation ***’s proportional hazards regression model was used to test the hazard ratio for factors associated with surgical ***:After a 12-month follow up,the IOP decreased from 28.1±6.3 to 13.8±3.0 mm Hg(47.92%reduction,P<0.001),and the medications used decreased from 2.0(1.0)to 0.0(0.0)(95%reduction,P<0.001).The mean IOP of all postoperative visits were lower than preoperative IOP(all P<0.001),so as the number of glaucoma medications(all P<0.001).Complete success 1 and qualified success 1 were 87.80%and 100.00%*** complete success 1 plus and qualified success 1 plus were 85.37%and 97.56%,*** 82.93%and 90.24%of patients got complete success 2 and qualified success 2 while 80.49%and 87.80%of patients satisfied complete success 2 plus and qualified success 2 ***(r=-0.511,P=0.001)and visual acuity(VA;r=-0.321,P=0.041)were negatively correlated with postoperative corrected IOP at 12mo,while anterior chamber depth(r=0.432,P=0.005),mean deviation(r=0.617,P<0.001)and visual field index(r=0.524,P<0.001)were positively correlated with *** VA(OR=33.092,P=0.004)and MD(OR=1.481,P=0.018)were hazard factors associated with failure based on qualified success as 18 mm *** main complications of KDB were hyphema(9.30%),IOP spike(11.63%)and peripheral anterior synechia(6.98%).CONCLUSI

Objective:Cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR)is one of the most important life-saving procedures in the *** to medical guidelines,family presence during CPR is still not accepted in some *** presence during CPR depends on the nurses’attitude,which is influenced by various *** intelligence(EI)helps nurses make wise decisions and display responsible behavior,which is necessary for proper and good performance in *** study’s purpose was to determine the attitude of acute care nurses toward family presence during CPR and its relationship with ***:The descriptive-analytical study was conducted among the nurses of acute care units(intensive care unit[ICU],critical care unit,and emergency department)in teaching hospitals of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences,Iran,in 2022-2023.A total of 186 nurses were included in the study using convenience *** data collection tools were a checklist of demographic characteristics,nurses’attitude toward the presence of family scale,and Siberia Schering’s EI *** collected data were analyzed using descriptive and analytical statistics and SPSS ***:The mean age of the participants was(32.05±6.93)*** 186 nurses participating in the study,127(68.3%)were women and the rest were *** mean score of attitude was 47.41±9.41(the minimum score of the nurses was 19 and the maximum score was 95).The mean score of EI was 99.27±8.86(the minimum score was 69 and the maximum score was 128).The results of Pearson’s correlation coefficient showed no significant relationship between the total score of attitude and EI of the participants(P=0.588).Data analysis showed that only the self-arousal dimension of EI has a significant relationship with the range of family self-control behaviors in attitude(P=0.037).Conclusions:The results showed that the nurses of acute care units have a positive attitude toward the presence of the family during CPR and have high ***

Intermodal frequency generation in silicon-rich silicon nitride waveguides

Dispersion engineering in optical waveguides allows applications relying on the precise control of phase matching conditions to be implemented. Although extremely effective over relatively narrow band spectral regions,dispersion control becomes increasingly challenging as the bandwidth of the process of interest *** matching can also be achieved by exploiting the propagation characteristics of waves exciting different spatial modes of the same waveguide. Phase matching control in this case relies on achieving very similar propagation characteristics across two, and even more, waveguide modes over the wavelengths of interest, which may be rather far from one another. We demonstrate here that broadband(>40 nm) four-wave mixing can be achieved between pump waves and a signal located in different bands of the communications spectrum(separated by50 nm) by exploiting interband nonlinearities. Our demonstration is carried out in the silicon-rich silicon nitride material platform, which allows flexible device engineering, allowing for strong effective nonlinearity at telecommunications wavelengths without deleterious nonlinear-loss effects.

Fractal autoencoder with redundancy regularization for unsupervised feature selection

Feature selection is a crucial step in data preprocessing because feature selection reduces the dimensionality of data by eliminating irrelevant and redundant features. Since manual labeling is expensive, unsupervised feature selection has received increasing attention in recent years. However, existing unsupervised feature selection methods tend to prioritize selecting highly correlated features over exploring feature diversity. Thus, a regularized fractal autoencoder(RFAE) method is proposed to select informative features in an unsupervised way. Specifically, the fractal autoencoder network extends autoencoders to construct a correspondence neural network and a selection neural network. The correspondence neural network exploits interfeature correlations and the selection neural network selects the informative features. A redundancy regularization strategy consists of a redundancy elimination regularization term based on the dependency between features and a sparse regularization term based on the group lasso. The redundancy regularization strategy eliminates feature subset redundancy and enhances network generalization ability. Extensive experimental results on six publicly available datasets show that the proposed RFAE outperforms the compared methods regarding clustering accuracy and classification accuracy. Moreover, the proposed RFAE achieves acceptable computation efficiency.
