A Novel Model for Describing Rail Weld Irregularities and Predicting Wheel-Rail Forces Using a Machine Learning Approach

Rail weld irregularities are one of the primary excitation sources for vehicle-track interaction dynamics in modern high-speed *** can cause significant wheel-rail dynamic interactions,leading to wheel-rail noise,component damage,and *** researchers have employed the vehicle-track interaction dynamic model to study the dynamic interactions between wheel and rail induced by rail weld geometry ***,the cosine wave model used to simulate rail weld irregularities mainly focuses on the maximum value and neglects the geometric *** this study,novel theoretical models were developed for three categories of rail weld irregularities,based on measurements of the high-speed railway from Beijing to *** vertical dynamic forces in the time and frequency domains were compared under different running *** forces generated by the rail weld irregularities that were measured and modeled,respectively,were compared to validate the accuracy of the proposed ***,based on the numerical study,the impact force due to rail weld irrregularity is modeled using an Artificial Neural Network(ANN),and the optimum combination of parameters for this model is *** results showed that the proposed model provided a more accurate wheel/rail dynamic evaluation caused by rail weld irregularities than that established in the *** ANN model used in this paper can effectively predict the impact force due to rail weld irrregularity while reducing the computation time.

Dispersion compensation for an ultrathin metal film using LCD-CCD system

A dispersion compensation method is introduced to correct the distorted image passing through an ultrathin metal *** LCD-CCD system is modeled by the back propagation network and used to evaluate the transmittance of the ultrathin metal *** samples for the network come from 729 images captured by shooting test patches,in which the RGB values are uniformity distributed between 0 and *** RGB value of the original image that will be distorted by the dispersion is first transformed by mapping from the LCD to the CCD,multiplied by the inverse matrix of the transmittance matrix,and finally transformed by mapping from the CCD to the LCD,then the corrected image is *** order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method,ultrathin aluminum films with different thicknesses are evaporated on glass substrates and laid between the CCD and *** results show that the proposed method compensates for the dispersion successfully.

Next-generation innovation and development of intelligent transportation system in China

As an integrated application of advanced technologies such as information technology, system control technology, and artificial intelligence in the transportation field, the intelligent transportation system(ITS) has been regarded as an efficient and effective solution for alleviating transportation issues that are encountered in several countries around the world. In this paper, the development history of the ITS in China is presented, and the problems and challenges faced by the ITS in China in the new normal state are clearly laid out. Three new ITS development requirements in China are then identified, and six development trends and directions are *** the successful application of the above guidelines, next generation innovation and development of ITS is expected to be realized in China, promoting and supporting the trends of urbanization, motorization, and informationization, which are resulting in fundamental changes in the development of the Chinese society and economy.

A fast-hopping 3-band CMOS frequency synthesizer for MB-OFDM UWB system

A fast-hopping 3-band （mode 1） multi-band orthogonal frequency division multiplexing ultra-wideband frequency synthesizer is presented. This synthesizer uses two phase-locked loops for generating steady frequencies and one quadrature single-sideband mixer for frequency shifting and quadrature frequency generation. The generated carriers can hop among 3432 MHz, 3960 MHz, and 4488 MHz. Implemented in a 0.13 μm CMOS process, this fully integrated synthesizer consumes 27 mA current from a 1.2 V supply. Measurement shows that the out-of-band spurious tones are below -50 dBc, while the in-band spurious tones are below -34 dBc. The measured hopping time is below 2 ns. The core die area is 1.0 ×1.8 mm^2.

Moment-independence global sensitivity analysis for the system with fuzzy failure state and its Kriging method

For the system with the fuzzy failure state, the effects of the input random variables and the fuzzy failure state on the fuzzy probability of failure for the structural system are studied, and the moment-independence global sensitivity analysis（GSA） model is proposed to quantitatively measure these effects. According to the fuzzy random theory, the fuzzy failure state is transformed into an equivalent new random variable for the system, and the complementary function of the membership function of the fuzzy failure state is defined as the cumulative distribution function（CDF） of the new random variable. After introducing the new random variable, the equivalent performance function of the original problem is built. The difference between the unconditional fuzzy probability of failure and conditional fuzzy probability of failure is defined as the moment-independent GSA index. In order to solve the proposed GSA index efficiently, the Kriging-based algorithm is developed to estimate the defined moment-independence GSA index. Two engineering examples are employed to verify the feasibility and rationality of the presented GSA model, and the advantages of the developed Kriging method are also illustrated.

A 0.18μm CMOS fluorescent detector system for bio-sensing application

A CMOS fluorescent detector system for biological experiment is presented. This system integrates a CMOS compatible photodiode, a capacitive trans-impedance amplifier （CTIA）, and a 12 bit pipelined analog-to- digital converter （ADC）, and is implemented in a 0.18μm standard CMOS process. Some special techniques, such as a ＂contact imaging＂ detecting method, pseudo-differential architecture, dummy photodiodes, and a T-type reset switch, are adopted to achieve low-level sensing application. Experiment results show that the Nwell/Psub photodiode with CTIA pixel achieves a sensitivity of 0.1 A/W at 515 nm and a dark current of 300 fA with 300 mV reverse biased voltage. The maximum differential and integral nonlinearity of the designed ADC are 0.8 LSB and 3 LSB, respectively. With an integrating time of 50 ms, this system is sensitive to the fluorescence emitted by the fluorescein solution with concentration as low as 20 ng/mL and can generate 7 fA photocurrent. This chip occupies 3 mm^2 and consumes 37 mW.

An Overview to the Concept of Smart Coupling and Battery Management for Grid Connected Photovoltaic Battery system

The paper gives an overview on the need for smart coupling for battery management in grid integrated renewable energy system （RES）. Grid integrated photovoltaic （PV） battery system, as being popular and extensively used has been discussed in the paper. Smart coupling refers to intelligent grid integration such that it can foresee local network conditions and issue battery power flow management strategy accordingly to shave the peak PV and peak load. Therefore, a need for predictive energy management arises for smart integration to the grid and supervision of the power flow in accordance to the grid conditions. This is also a running project at the Institute of Energy systems （INES）, Offenburg University of Applied Science, Germany since January, 2015. The paper should provide insights to the motivation, need and gives an outlook to the features of desired predictive energy management system （PEMS）.

A fully integrated BPSK amplitude and spectrum tunable transmitter for IR-UWB system

A 3-5 GHz low power BPSK modulated impulse radio UWB transmitter is implemented in 0.13μm CMOS technology. In this design the amplitude and spectrum of the output impulse are both tunable to solve the special problem in IR-UWB, where it is difficult to control the spectrum. Measurement results indicate that, by changing the control bits in the gain control circuit and differential circuit, the 3-step peak-to-peak voltage amplitudes are 240, 170 and 115 mV and the center frequency of the impulse can be tuned from 3.2 to 4.1 GHz. A power controlled output buffer is designed to drive the antenna. The total power consumption is only 4.44 mW when transmitting a baseband signal of 100 MHz. The chip area is 1.2 × 1.4 mm^2.

system deployment optimization in architecture design

Optimization of architecture design has recently drawn research interest. system deployment optimization （SDO） refers to the process of optimizing systems that are being deployed to activi- ties. This paper first formulates a mathematical model to theorize and operationalize the SDO problem and then identifies optimal so- lutions to solve the SDO problem. In the solutions, the success rate of the combat task is maximized, whereas the execution time of the task and the cost of changes in the system structure are mini- mized. The presented optimized algorithm generates an optimal solution without the need to check the entire search space. A novel method is finally proposed based on the combination of heuristic method and genetic algorithm （HGA）, as well as the combination of heuristic method and particle swarm optimization （HPSO）. Experi- ment results show that the HPSO method generates solutions faster than particle swarm optimization （PSO） and genetic algo- rithm （GA） in terms of execution time and performs more efficiently than the heuristic method in terms of determining the best solution.
