Accuracy and safety of partial thickness femtosecond laser radial and arcuate keratotomy incisions in porcine eyes

Azodicarbonamide(ADC),which has been abundantly used in the creation offoamed plastics as a blowing and foaming agent,has attracted more and more attention in recent years due to the health risks associated with its *** is actually on the REACH(Registration,Evaluation,Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals)regulation Candidate List of Substances of Very High concern,and the residual content in products needs to be confirmed by the end users according to ***,the determination and monitoring of ADC in plastic products is necessary and crucial not only for the growth of ADC global market but also for the health of the *** this work,a quantitative method for ADC in insulation layers of cables was developed by using optimized total dissolution methodology(TDM)for sample preparation followed by HPLC under HILIC conditions with UV absorbance *** linear range of this method was 6–600μg·g^(-1) ,and the limit of detection(LOD)and limit of quantitation(LOQ)were 0.94 and 3.1μg·g^(-1) in solution,*** method has good recovery and precision,and is easy to *** meets the needs of the industry and is conducive to the growth of ADC global *** method is expected to be applicable to ADC quantitation in other polyolefin products.

A Key Management Scheme Based on Hypergraph for Fog computing

Fog computing is a new paradigm supporting the stringent requirements of mobility applications by bridging cloud computing and smart devices. Since the smart devices may be deployed in dynamic areas where are out of strict monitoring and protection, fog computing requires security protections to ensure confidentiality and integrity. In this article, to deal with security requirements and considering the distinctive features, a key management based on hypergraph schemed is designed. Firstly, based on the key hypergraph, the three hierarchy architecture of fog computing is divided into two subnetworks. Furthermore, each key management process of both two subnetworks is designed to satisfy the operational and security requirements of fog computing. Finally, the performance evaluation and numerical simulation have been provided to validate the proposed scheme.

Phase 3 trial of first generation protease inhibitor therapy for hepatitis C virus/human immunodeficiency virus coinfection

AIM To evaluate efficacy/safety of hepatitis C virus(HCV) protease inhibitor boceprevir with pegylated interferon(PEG-IFN) alfa and weight-based ribavirin(RBV) in a phase 3 trial. METHODS A prospective, multicenter, phase 3, open-label, singlearm study of PEG-IFN alfa, weight-based RBV, and boceprevir, with a PEG-IFN/RBV lead-in phase was performed. The HCV/human immunodeficiency virus coinfected study population included treatment na?ve(TN) and treatment experienced(TE) patients. Treatment duration ranged from 28 to 48 wk dependent upon response-guided criteria. All patients had HCV Genotype 1 with a viral load > 10000 IU/ml. compensated cirrhosis was allowed. Sample size was determined to establish superiority to historical(PEG-IFN plus RBV) rates in sustained viral response(SVR). RESULTS A total of 257 enrolled participants were analyzed(135 TN and 122 TE). In the TN group, 81.5% were male and 54.1% were black. In the TE group, 76.2% were male and 47.5% were white. Overall SVR12 rates(HCV RNA controls. The highest rate was observed in TN non-cirrhotic participants(36.8% and the lowest in TE cirrhotics(26.3%). Cirrhotic TN participants had a 27.8% SVR12 rate and 32.1% of TE non-cirrhotics achieved SVR12. Significantly lower response rates were observed among black participants; in the TE, SVR12 was 39.7% in white participants but only 13.2% of black subjects(P = 0.002). Among the TN, SVR12 was 42.1% among whites and 27.4% among blacks(P = 0.09). coNCLUSION The trial met its hypothesis of improved SVR compared to historical controls but overall SVR rates were low. All-oral HCV treatments will mitigate these difficulties.

The availability and quantity of remotely sensed and terrestrial geospatial data sets are on the ***,these data sets have been analyzed and quarried on 2D desktop computers;however,immersive technologies and specifically immersive virtual reality(iVR)allow for the integration,visualization,analysis,and exploration of these 3D geospatial data *** can deliver remote and large-scale geospatial data sets to the laboratory,providing embodied experiences of field sites across the earth and *** describe a workflow for the ingestion of geospatial data sets and the development of an iVR workbench,and present the application of these for an experience of Iceland’s Thrihnukar volcano where we:(1)combined satellite imagery with terrain elevation data to create a basic reconstruction of the physical site;(2)used terrestrial LiDAR data to provide a geo-referenced point cloud model of the magmatic-volcanic system,as well as the LiDAR intensity values for the identification of rock types;and(3)used Structure-from-Motion(SfM)to construct a photorealistic point cloud of the inside *** workbench provides tools for the direct manipulation of the georeferenced data sets,including scaling,rotation,and translation,and a suite of geometric measurement tools,including length,area,and *** developments will be inspired by an ongoing user study that formally evaluates the workbench’s mature components in the context of fieldwork and analyses activities.

Polyethylene glycol 3350 in occasional constipation: A one-week, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial

A novel real-time cell electronic analysis technology for the authentication and quality control of natural medicines

The study was designed to explore the potential applications of the real-time cell electronic analysis technology in the quality evaluation of natural medicines. The natural medicinal Flos Carthami was discussed as a methodological example and the specific time/dose-dependent cell response profiles （TCRPs） were produced by the real-time cell electronic analysis technology. The similarity and bioactivity were obtained by analyzing all TCRPs. Meanwhile, an HPLC method according to the Chinese Pharmacopeia （edition 2010） was used to evaluate the quality of Flos Carthami. The correlation was obtained by comparing the results produced by the two different approaches. By analyzing the data, five different samples ofFlos Carthami can produce remarkably similar TCRPs. The quality ofFlos Carthami was evaluated by both the HPLC and the TCRPs analysis-based approaches and similar results were obtained. The results suggest that the same natural medicine from different locations could produce similar TCRPs. By analyzing the TCRPs, the bioactivity and quality evaluation of natural medicines can be obtained. This technology is a physiologically relevant approach for the quality evaluation of natural medicines. The ultimate aim of our study is to establish a new standard for quality evaluation.

Magnesium lithospermate B possesses inhibitory activity on Na+,K+-ATPase and neuroprotective effects against ischemic stroke

Aim:To examine if magnesium lithospermate B （MLB） extracted from Danshen,thedried roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza,may act as an active component responsible forthe cardiac therapeutic effect of this traditional Chinese herb via the same molecu-lar mechanism triggered by cardiac glycosides,such as ouabain and ***,we wanted to test if MLB may provide neuroprotection againstischemic stroke as observed for cardiac ***:Similarity in thechemical structure and molecular configuration between MLB and ouabain *** inhibition potency of MLB and ouabain on Na+,K+-ATPase activ-ity of a commercial product,as well as in purified membrane fractions from rat brainand heart tissues,was examined and *** effect of MLBagainst ischemic stroke was also evaluated using a cortical brain slice-basedassay ***:Dose-dependent inhibition on the commercial Na+,K+-ATPase equivalent to that for ouabain was observed for MLB of approximatelyhalf dosage by *** relative potency of ouabain and MLB was alsoobserved for their inhibition on Na+,K+-ATPase activity of plasma membranepurified from rat tissues,although these 2 inhibitors exhibited somewhat lowercompetence in these crude *** ischemic gerbil brains,post-treatment withMLB significantly reduced the infarct size,visualized by 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazoliumchloride staining,by approximately 55% when compared with the control ***:These results evidently suggest that the cardiac therapeutic effect ofDanshen should be at least partly attributed to the effective inhibition of Na+,K+-ATPase by MLB,and that MLB provides anti-ischemic neuroprotection in gerbilssubjected to focal ischemia and reperfusion.

Improving Multi-Model Ensemble Forecasts of Tropical Cyclone Intensity Using Bayesian Model Averaging

This paper proposes a method for multi-model ensemble forecasting based on Bayesian model averaging （BMA）, aiming to improve the accuracy of tropical cyclone （TC） intensity forecasts, especially forecasts of minimum surface pressure at the cyclone center （Pmin）＇ The multi-model ensemble comprises three operational forecast models： the Global Forecast System （GFS） of NCEP, the Hurricane Weather Research and Forecasting （HWRF） models of NCEP, and the Integrated Forecasting System （IFS） of ECMWF. The mean of a predictive distribution is taken as the BMA forecast. In this investigation, bias correction of the minimum surface pressure was applied at each forecast lead time, and the distribution （or probability density function, PDF） of emin was used and transformed. Based on summer season forecasts for three years, we found that the intensity errors in TC forecast from the three models var-ied significantly. The HWRF had a much smaller intensity error for short lead-time forecasts. To demonstrate the proposed methodology, cross validation was implemented to ensure more efficient use of the sample data and more reliable testing. comparative analysis shows that BMA for this three-model ensemble, after bias correction and distri-bution transformation, provided more accurate forecasts than did the best of the ensemble members （HWRF）, with a 5%-7% decrease in root-mean-square error on average. BMA also outperformed the multi-model ensemble, and it produced ＂predictive variance＂ that represented the forecast uncertainty of the member models. In a word, the BMA method used in the multi-model ensemble forecasting was successful in TC intensity forecasts, and it has the poten-tial to be applied to routine operational forecasting.
