Objective Brain metastases significantly impact the clinical course of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).This study aimed to examine the age-related incidence,demographics,and survival of patients with HCC and brain *** Data of HCC patients from 2010 to 2015 in the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER)Registry were screened for the presence of brain *** were stratified by age and *** logistic and Cox regression analyses were used to identify factors associated with brain metastases and those with overall survival(OS)and liver cancer-specific survival(CSS),*** A total of 141 HCC patients presenting with brain metastases were identified,accounting for 0.35% of all HCC patients and 2.37% of patients with metastatic *** all HCC patients,the incidence rate was the highest among patients aged 30-49 years old(0.47%).Ethnicity was not associated with the presence of brain metastases at the time of HCC ***,African-American patients presented with a significantly lower disease-specific survival[median time:1 month;interquartile range(IQR):0-3.0 months].Initial lung or bone metastasis was independently associated with an increased risk of the presence of brain metastases[odds ratio(OR):12.62,95% confidence interval(CI):8.40-18.97]but was not associated with a worse OS or CSS among those with brain *** This study identified the age-related incidence and risk factors of brain metastases in HCC *** results may contribute to the consideration of brain screening among patients with initial metastatic HCC with lung or bone metastases,and influence the counseling of this patient population regarding their prognosis.

Aims:Surveys and research on the applications of the hepatic venous pressure gradient(HVPG)are important for understanding the current status and future development of this technology in *** article aimed to investigate the status of hepatic venous pressure gradient measurement in China in ***:We investigated the overall status of HVPG technology in China-including hospital distribution,hospital level,annual number of cases,catheters used,average cost,indications,and current challenges by using online *** counting the number and percentages of cases of these results,we hope to clarify the current status of HVPG measurements in ***:According to the survey,85 hospitals in China used HVPG technology in 2022 distributed across 29 provinces.A total of 4989 HVPG measurements were performed in all of the surveyed hospitals in 2022,of which 2813 cases(56.4%)were measured *** average cost of HVPG measurement was 5646.8±2327.9 *** the clinical teams who performed the measurements(sometimes multiple per hospital),94.3%(82/87)used the balloon method,and the majority of the teams(72.4%,63/87)used embolectomy ***:This survey clarified the clinical application status of HVPG in China and confirmed that some medical institutions in China have established a foundation for this *** is still necessary to continue promoting and popularizing this technology in the future.

The effect of adjuvant transarterial chemoembolization for hepatocellular carcinoma after liver resection based on risk stratification

Background:Early recurrence is common for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)after surgical resection,being the leading cause of ***,the COX proportional hazard(CPH)models based on linearity assumption have been used to predict early recurrence,but predictive performance is *** learning models offer a novel methodology and have several advantages over CPH ***,the purpose of this study was to compare random survival forests(RSF)model with CPH models in prediction of early recurrence for HCC patients after curative ***:A total of 4,758 patients undergoing curative resection from two medical centers were *** features including age,gender,etiology,platelet count,albumin,total bilirubin,AFP,tumor size,tumor number,microvascular invasion,macrovascular invasion,Edmondson-Steiner grade,tumor capsular,satellite nodules and liver cirrhosis were used to construct the RSF model in training ***,calibration,clinical usefulness and overall performance were assessed and compared with other ***:Five hundred survival trees were used to generate the RFS *** five highest Variable Importance(VIMP)were tumor size,macrovascular invasion,microvascular invasion,tumor number and *** training,internal and external validation cohort,the C-index of RSF model were 0.725[standard errors(SE)=0.005],0.762(SE=0.011)and 0.747(SE=0.016),respectively;the Gönen&Heller’s K of RSF model were 0.684(SE=0.005),0.711(SE=0.008)and 0.697(SE=0.014),respectively;the time-dependent AUC(2 years)of RSF model were 0.818(SE=0.008),0.823(SE=0.014)and 0.785(SE=0.025),*** RSF model outperformed early recurrence after surgery for liver tumor(ERASL)model,Korean model,American Joint Committee on Cancer tumor-node-metastasis(AJCC TNM)stage,Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer(BCLC)stage and Chinese *** RSF model is capable of stratifying patients into three different risk groups(low-risk,intermediate-risk,high-risk gro
