Safety, pharmacokinetics, and biomarkers of F-652, a recombinant human interleukin-22 dimer, in healthy subjects

F-652 is a recombinant fusion protein consisting of two human interleukin-22(IL-22)molecules linked to an immunoglobulin constant region(IgG 2-Fc).IL-22 plays critical roles in promoting tissue repair and suppressing bacterial *** safety,pharmacokinetics(PK),tolerability,and biomarkers of F-652 were evaluated following a single dose in healthy male volunteers in a randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled *** single-dose subcutaneous(SC)injection of F-652 at 2.0µg/kg into healthy subjects,six out of six subjects experienced delayed injection site reactions,which presented as erythematous and/or discoid eczematous lesions 10 to 17 days post-dosing.F-652 was then administered to the healthy subjects via an intravenous(IV)infusion at 2.0,10,30,and 45µg/*** severe adverse event(SAE)was observed during the *** the IV-dosed cohorts,eye and skin treatment emergent adverse events(TEAEs)were observed in the 30 and 45µg/kg cohorts.F-652 IV dosing resulted in linear increases in C max and AUC(0–t),and the T 1/2 ranged from 39.4 to 206h in the *** IV injection of F-652 induced dose-dependent increases in serum marker serum amyloid A,C-reactive protein,and FIB,and decreased serum *** serum levels of 36 common pro-inflammatory cytokines/chemokines were not altered by the treatment of F-652 at 45μg/*** conclusion,IV administration of F-652 to healthy male volunteers is safe and well-tolerated and demonstrates favorable PK and pharmacodynamic *** results warrant further clinical development of F-652 to treat inflammatory diseases.

Characterizing prediction errors of a new tree height model for cut-to-length Pinus radiata stems through the Burr TypeⅫdistribution

Unlike height-diameter equations for standing trees commonly used in forest resources modelling,tree height models for cut-to-length(CTL)stems tend to produce prediction errors whose distributions are not conditionally normal but are rather leptokurtic and *** feature was merely noticed in previous studies but never thoroughly *** study characterized the prediction error distribution of a newly developed such tree height model for Pin us radiata(***)through the three-parameter Burr TypeⅫ(BⅫ)*** model’s prediction errors(ε)exhibited heteroskedasticity conditional mainly on the small end relative diameter of the top log and also on DBH to a minor *** serial correlations were also present in the data.A total of 14 candidate weighting functions were compared to select the best two for weightingεin order to reduce its conditional *** weighted prediction errors(εw)were shifted by a constant to the positive range supported by the BXII *** the distribution of weighted and shifted prediction errors(εw+)was characterized by the BⅫdistribution using maximum likelihood estimation through 1000 times of repeated random sampling,fitting and goodness-of-fit testing,each time by randomly taking only one observation from each tree to circumvent the potential adverse impact of serial correlation in the data on parameter estimation and *** nonparametric two sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov(KS)goodness-of-fit test and its closely related Kuiper’s(KU)test showed the fitted BⅫdistributions provided a good fit to the highly leptokurtic and heavy-tailed distribution ofε.Random samples generated from the fitted BⅫdistributions ofεw+derived from using the best two weighting functions,when back-shifted and unweighted,exhibited distributions that were,in about97 and 95%of the 1000 cases respectively,not statistically different from the distribution ofε.Our results for cut-tolength *** stems repre

Strategies for CO2 capture from different CO2 emission sources by vacuum swing adsorption technology

Different VSA （Vacuum Swing Adsorption） cycles and process schemes have been evaluated to find suitable process configurations for effectively separating C02 from flue gases from different industrial sectors. The cycles were studied using an adsorption simulator developed in our research group, which has been suc- cessfully used to predict experimental results over severa~ years. Commercial zeolite APGIlI and granular ac- tivated carbon were used as the adsorbents. Three-bed VSA cycles with- and without-product purge and 2- stage VSA systems have been investigated. It was found that for a feed gas containing 15% CO2 （representing flue gas from power plants）, high CO2 purities and recoveries could be obtained using a three-bed zeolite APGII1 VSA unit for one stage capture, but with more stringent conditions such as deeper vacuum pressures of 1-3 kPa. 2-stage VSA process operated in series allowed us to use simple process steps and operate at more realistic vacuum pressures. With a vacuum pressure of 10 kPa, final C02 purity of 95.3% with a recov- ery of 98.2% were obtained at specific power consumption of 0.55 MJ. （kg CO2） 1 from feed gas containing 15% C02. These numbers compare very well with those obtained from a single stage process operating at I kPa vacuum pressure. The feed CO2 concentration was very influential in determining the desorption pressure necessary to achieve high separation efficiency. For feed gases containing 〉30% CO2, a singlestage VSA capture process operating at moderate vacuum pressure and without a product purge, can achieve very high product purities and recoveries.

The unconformity in Miocene sequence of western Qaidam Basin and its tectonic significance

An angular unconformity has been identified between the upper and the lower Youshashan Formation based on the study of the regional geology, drillhole, and geophysical data of the Altyn Tagh Mountain foreland, western Qaidam Basin. The distribution of the unconformity, the contacts between the upper and the lower Youshashan Formation, and its relation to the characteristics of the paleo-structure belts suggest a close relationship between the unconformities in the southern flank of the Altyn Tagh Mountain in the west of the Qaidam Basin and the activity of the Altyn Tagh Fault. It was the same time when the Atlyn Tagh Fault Zone was transformed from regional uplifting to rapid-strike-slipping movement during the Miocene, resulting in the cessation of the regional uplift and subsequent massive regional transgression during the deposition of the upper Youshashan Formation, which unconformably overlies (onlaps) the underlying strata of different ages.

Mutation of a Gene in the Fungus Leptosphaeria maculans Allows Increased Frequency of Penetration of Stomatal Apertures of Arabidopsis thaliana

Leptosphaeria maculans, a pathogen of Brassica napus, is unable to invade most wild-type accessions of Arabidopsis thaliana, although several mutants are susceptible. The infection pathway of L. maculans via a non-invasive inoculation method on A. thaliana Imsl （undefined）, pmr4-1 （defective in callose deposition）, and pen1-1 and pen2-1 （defective in non-host responses to several pathogens） mutants is described. On wild types Col-0 and Ler-0, hyphae are generally arrested at stomatal apertures. A T-DNA insertional mutant of L. maculans （A22） that penetrates stomatal apertures of Col-0 and Ler-0 five to seven times more often than the wild-type isolate is described. The higher penetration frequency of isolate A22 is associated with an increased hypersensitive response, which includes callose deposition. Com- plementation analysis showed that the phenotype of this isolate is due to T-DNA insertion in an intronless gene denoted as ipa （increased penetration on A rabidopsis）. This gene is predicted to encode a protein of 702 amino acids with best matches to hypothetical proteins in other filamentous ascomycetes. The ipa gene is expressed in the wild-type isolate at low levels in culture and during infection of A. thaliana and B. napus.

Temporal trends of per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances(PFAS)in the influent of two of the largest wastewater treatment plants in Australia

Per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances(PFAS)are found ubiquitously in wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs)due to their multiple sources in industry and consumer *** Australia,limited spatial data are available on PFAS levels inWWTPs influent,while no temporal data have been *** aim of this study was to investigate the occurrence and temporal trend of PFAS in the influent of two large WWTPs in Australia(WWTP A and B)over a four-year *** influent samples were collected over one week at different seasons from 2014 to *** perfluoroalkyl acids(PFAA)(*** perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids(PFCAs)and four perfluoroalkyl sulfonic acids(PFSA))were detected with mean S11PFAA concentrations of 57±3.3e94±17 ng/L at WWTP A,and 31±6.1e142±73 ng/L at WWTP *** highest mean concentrations were observed for perfluorohexanoate(PFHxA)(20±2 ng/L)in WWTP A,and perfluorooctane sulfonate(PFOS)(17±13 ng/L)in WWTP *** precursor 6:2 fluorotelomer sulfonate was detected over five sampling periods from Aug 2016 to Oct 2017,with mean concentrations of 37±18e138±51 ng/L for WWTP A and 8.8±4.5e29±5.1 ng/L for WWTP *** concentration of 6:2 FTS(1.8e11 folds)than those of PFOA and PFOS in WWTP A indicate a likely substitution of C8 PFAA by fluorotelomer-based PFAS in this *** trends(annual and seasonal)in per-capita mass load were observed for some PFAA,increasing for PFPeA,PFHxA,PFHpA,PFNA,and PFHxS,while decreasing for PFBS and PFOS in either ***,elevated levels of PFOS in October 2017 were observed at both WWTPs with the highest per capita mass load of up to 67 mg/day/*** some PFAS release trends,longer sampling periods would be required to achieve acceptable statistical power.

Reconstructing the size of individual trees using log data from cut-to-length harvesters in Pinus radiata plantations: a case study in NSW, Australia

With their widespread utilization, cut-to-length harvesters have become a major source of ‘‘big data’’ for forest management as they constantly capture, and provide a daily flow of, information on log production and assortment over large operational areas. Harvester data afford the calculation of the total log length between the stump and the last cut but not the total height of trees. They also contain the length and end diameters of individual logs but not always the diameter at breast height overbark（DBHOB） of harvested stems largely because of time lapse, operating and processing issues and other system deficiencies. Even when DBHOB is extracted from harvester data, errors and/or bias of the machine measurements due to the variation in the stump height of harvested stems from that specified for the harvester head prior to harvesting and diameter measurement errors may need to be corrected. This study developed（1） a system of equations for estimating DBHOB of trees from diameter overbark（DOB） measured by a harvester head at any height up to 3 m above ground level and（2） an equation to predict the total height of harvested stems in P. radiata plantations from harvester data. To generate the data required for this purpose, cut-to-length simulations of more than 3000 trees with detailed taper measurements were carried out in the computer using the cutting patterns extracted from the harvester data and stump height survey data from clearfall operations. The equation predicted total tree height from DBHOB, total log length and the small end diameter of the top log. Prediction accuracy for total tree height was evaluated both globally over the entire data space and locally within partitioned subspaces through benchmarking statistics.
