From 26 November to 1 December 2022,intense cold air masses swept across China from northwest to south,resulting in a nationwide cold air outbreak(CAO)case characterised by drastic and sudden temperature drops with rain,snow and strong *** physical processes that dominate the intensification of the cold air masses during this CAO event remain *** this study,the evolution of the CAO case,which is indicated by the dry static energy(DSE),is investigated using a novel approach in the framework of Lagrangian *** dominant processes can be identified by decomposing the DSE change into four diabatic heating terms due to shortwave radiation,longwave radiation,latent heat and turbulent ***,in this case,most of the cold air parcels originated from the east of Novaya Zemlya and crossed Central Siberia before reaching ***,these air parcels mainly manifested on the northwest‒southeast *** duration of the cold air intensification differed between *** cold air parcels experienced long cooling periods(approximately 9 d)before reaching northern China(***,North and Northeast China),whilst the southern parts(***,East and South China)underwent relatively short cooling periods(6-8 d).Accordingly,the cold air affecting northern China is more intense than that affecting the southern parts,especially for East and South *** all six subregions,longwave radiative cooling is identified as the dominant contributor to the cold air intensification,and the latent heat processes as the secondary *** weakening of cold air parcels as they approach and pass over these regions is driven by turbulent processes and shortwave *** Siberia and Lake Baikal are identified as key areas for the intensification of cold air passing over both *** addition,air parcels affecting Northwest China are intensely cooled as they pass over the Junggar Basin,while the North China Plain is a key area for cooli

Risk of anxiety and depression in patients with uveitis:a Meta-analysis

AIM:To quantitatively evaluate the risk of anxiety and depression in patients with uveitis via performing a ***:Three electronic database(Pub Med,Embase,and Cochrane Library databases)were searched for studies recording data about uveitis and anxiety as well as depression simultaneously up to January *** incidence rate and standard mean difference(SMD)with a 95%confidence interval(95%CI)were calculated to analyse the association using random-effects models based on heterogeneity ***:In total,12 observational studies containing 874 patients with uveitis were *** results showed that there was a significant association between uveitis and anxiety(SMD=0.97,95%CI:0.39 to 1.54,P=0.0009)and depression(SMD=0.79,95%CI:0.51 to 1.07,P<0.00001).The overall morbidities of anxiety and depression in patients with uveitis were 39%and 17%,*** subgroup analysis,the heterogeneity actually came from different kinds of ***,the incidence rates of both anxiety and depression were relatively low in patients with anterior uveitis(33%and 15%),moderate in patients with infectious uveitis(46%and 22%),and high in patients with unspecified uveitis(59%and 35%).CONCLUSION:It is preliminarily indicated that patients with uveitis may have a high risk of anxiety and *** and psychologists should pay more attention to the psychological state when dealing with patients with *** high-quality studies with detailed direct data are needed to draw more precise conclusions.

Hydrocarbons in particulate samples from wildfire events in central Portugal in summer 2010

In summer 2010, twenty eight （14 PM=2.5 samples plus 14 samples PM2.5-10） smoke samples were collected during wildfires that occurred in central Portugal. A portable high-volume sampler was used to perform the sampling, on quartz fibre filters of coarse （PM=2.5-10） and fine （PM2.5） smoke samples. The carbonaceous content （elemental and organic carbon） of particulate matter was analysed by a thermal-optical technique. Subsequently, the particulate samples were solvent extracted and fractionated by vacuum flash chromatog- raphy into three different classes of organic compounds （aliphatics, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons （PAHs） and carbonyl compounds）. The organic speciation was performed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry （GC-MS）. Emissions were dominated by the fine particles, which represented around 92% of the PM10. A clear predominance of carbonaceous constituents was observed, with organic to elemental carbon （OC/EC） ratios ranging between 1.69 and 245 in both size fractions. The isoprenoid ketone 6,10,14-trimethyl-2-pentadecanone, a tracer for secondary organic aerosol formation, was one of the dominant constituents in both fine and coarse particles. Retene was the most abundant compound in all samples. Good correlations were obtained between OC and both aliphatic and PAH compounds. Pyrogenic processes, thermal release of biogenic com- pounds and secondary processing accounted for 97% of the apportioned PM2.5 levels.

Dynamic characteristics of bubbling fluidization through recurrence rate analysis of pressure fluctuations

Pressure fluctuations signals of a lab-scale fiuidized bed （15 cm inner diameter and 2 m height） at different superficial gas velocities were measured. Recurrence plot （RP） and recurrence rate （RR）, and the simplest variable of recurrence quantification analysis （RQA） were used to analyze the pressure signals. Different patterns observed in RP reflect different dynamic behavior of the system under study. It was also found that the variance of RR （a2R） Could reveal the peak dominant frequencies （PDF） of different dynamic systems： completely periodic, completely stochastic, Lorenz system, and fluidized bed. The results were compared with power spectral density. Additionally, the diagram of σ^2RR provides a new technique for prediction of transition velocity from bubbling to turbulent fluidization regime.

Characteristics and Temperature Measurement of a Non-Transferred Cascaded DC Plasma Torch

Dependence of the current-voltage characteristics of a non-transferred DC cascaded plasma torch used for nanoparticle synthesis, on the plasma current and the plasma argon gas flow rate are reported in this paper. The potential structure inside the torch and its dependence on the plasma current and gas flow rate are also investigated. The arc voltage is seen to exhibit negative characteristic for a current below 150 A and positive characteristic above that current value. The voltage drop near the electrodes is found to decrease with the increase in plasma current. 25~ of the total voltage is dropped near the cathode at a plasma current of 50 A and a argon plasma gas flow rate of 10 liter per minute （LPM）, and it decreases to 12% with the current increasing to 300 A, and to 17% with a gas flow rate of 25 LPM. The variation in the torch efficiency with the gas flow rate and plasma current is also reported. The efficiency of the torch is found to be between 36% and 48%. In addition, the plasma gas temperature at various positions of the reactor and for different currents and voltages are measured by calorimetric estimation with a heat balance technique.

Small hepatocellular carcinoma with peripheral enhancement:pathological correlation with dual phase images by helical CT

Background The peripheral enhancement of small hepatocellular carcinoma （SHCC） is a rare appearance in dual phase images by helical computed tomography （CT）. This study discusses this phenomenon and its correlative histopathology. Methods The helical CT dual phase appearance of peripheral enhancement in SHCC was analyzed in 21 cases （22 lesions）. All lesions were confirmed as SHCC by histopathological examination. Results In these 22 lesions, enhanced peripheral ring in 20 lesions was incomplete, the thickness of enhanced peripheral ring varied and mural node could be found in hepatic arterial phase; only 2 lesions had complete peripheral ring enhancement and ring of uniform thickness in hepatic arterial phase. The enhancement of some peripheral rings and mural nodes dropped to very low density in portal venous phase. The tumour cells were grade I in 3 lesions, II in 16, III in 2 and IV in 1. The vascular supply was more abundant at the border than in the centre of 15 lesions and the vascular supply was deficient in both centre and border of the remaining 7 lesions. In 3 lesions, the pseudocapsule showed in the border of the lesion. In 12 lesions, flecks of necrosis were found in the border and/or centre of the lesion. Conclusions The characteristic peripheral enhancement in helical CT dual phase images of small hepatocellular carcinoma correlates with different vascular supplies, fibrous capsule and necrosis of the lesion.

Effectiveness of sodium silicate as gangue depressants in iron ore slimes flotation

The recovery of iron from the screw classifier overflow slimes by direct flotation was studied. The relative effectiveness of sodium silicates with different silica-to-soda mole ratios as depressants for silica and silicate bearing minerals was investigated. Silica-to-soda mole ratio and silicate dosage were found to have significant effect on the separation efficiency. The results show that an increase of Fe content in the concentrate is observed with concomitant reduction in SiO2 and A1203 levels when a particular type of sodium silicate at a proper dosage is used. The concentrate of 58.89wt% Fe, 4.68wt% SiO2, and 5.28wt% A1203 with the weight recovery of 38.74% and the metal recovery of 41.13% can be obtained from the iron ore slimes with 54.44wt% Fe, 6.72wt% SiO2, and 6.80wt% A1203, when NazSiO3 with a silica-to-soda mole ratio of 2.19 is used as a depressant at a feed rate of 0.2 kg/t.

Contribution of precursor compounds to the release of per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances(PFASs) from waste water treatment plants(WWTPs)

Per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances（PFASs） are ubiquitous in sludge and water from waste water treatment plants, as a result of their incorporation in everyday products and industrial processes. In this study, we measured several classes of persistent PFASs,precursors, transformation intermediates, and newly identified PFASs in influent and effluent sewage water and sludge from three municipal waste water treatment plants in Sweden, sampled in 2015. For sludge, samples from 2012 and 2014 were analyzed as *** of precursors in sludge exceeded those of perfluoroalkyl acids and sulfonic acids（PFCAs and PFSAs）, in 2015 the sum of polyfluoroalkyl phosphoric acid esters（PAPs） were 15–20 ng/g dry weight, the sum of fluorotelomer sulfonic acids（FTSAs） was 0.8–1.3 ng/g,and the sum of perfluorooctane sulfonamides and ethanols ranged from non-detected to 3.2 ng/g. Persistent PFSAs and PFCAs were detected at 1.9–3.9 ng/g and 2.4–7.3 ng/g dry weight, respectively. The influence of precursor compounds was further demonstrated by an observed substantial increase for a majority of the persistent PFCAs and PFSAs in water after waste water treatment. Perfluorohexanoic acid（PFHxA）, perfluorooctanoic acid（PFOA）, perfluorohexane sulfonic acid（PFHxS）, and perfluorooctane sulfonic acid（PFOS）had a net mass increase in all WWTPs, with mean values of 83%, 28%, 37% and 58%,respectively. The load of precursors and intermediates in influent water and sludge combined with net mass increase support the hypothesis that degradation of precursor compounds is a significant contributor to PFAS contamination in the environment.

Exploring the design of eutectic or near-eutectic multicomponent alloys： From binary to high entropy alloys

Eutectic and near-eutectic high entropy alloys(HEAs) have recently attracted a great deal of interest because of their promising properties, such as an excellent castability and unique combination of good ductility and high strength. However, in the absence of a phase diagram, it remains a non-trivial task to find a eutectic or near-eutectic composition for a HE A system, which usually demands a tremendous amount of efforts if a trial-and-error approach is followed. In this paper, we briefly review the thermodynamics that governs the eutectic solidification in regular binary and ternary alloys, and proceed to the discussion for the design of eutectic HEAs. Based on the data reported, we then propose an improved strategy which may enable an efficient search for the eutectic or near eutectic HEA compositions.
