Improved germination of threatened medicinal Prunus africana for better domestication: effects of temperature, growth regulators and salts

Prunus africana is an endangered medicinal species and has been classified as a priority for domestication in ***,the seeds rapidly lose their viability during storage at room temperature after 2–3 *** study aimed to improve seed germination of *** by germinating at different temperatures(4℃,28℃)using different concentrations of growth stimulators(sodium nitrate and gibberellic acid)and different concentrations of *** seeds had 91.7%germination at 4C after 1 month of *** regulators considerably influenced germination after 6 months and reached 66.0%with 10 mM gibberellic acid and 100%with 10 mM sodium *** three shoots per seed were developed,an indication of *** analyses revealed the presence of protein-like bodies close to the embryo axis and accumulations of starch after 7 days of *** 14 days,amyloplasts and dark protein bodies of various sizes were *** outcome of this study will contribute to improve the germination of *** for better domestication and conservation.

Ranunculales,comprising of 7families that are rich in medicinal species frequently utilized by traditional medicine and ethnomedicine,represents a treasure chest of biodiversity and *** phylogenetically related species often have similar chemical profile,which makes them often possess similar therapeutic *** been validatedby both ethnomedicinal experiences and pharmacological *** paper summarizes molecular phylogeny,chemical constituents,and therapeutic applications of Ranunculales,i.e.,a pharmacophylogeny study of this representative medicinal *** phytochemistryl metabolome,ethnomedicine and bioactivity/pharmacology data are incorporated within the phylogenetic framework of *** most studied compounds of this order include benzylisoquinoline alkaloid,flavonoid,terpenoid,saponin and lignan,*** are especially abundant in Berberidaceae and *** most frequent ethnomedicinal uses are arthritis,heat-clearing and detoxification,carbuncle-abscess and *** most studied bioactivities are anticancer/cytotoxic,antimicrobial,and anti-inflammatory activities,*** pharmacophylogeny analysis,integrated with both traditional and modern medicinal uses,agrees with the molecular phylogeny based on chloroplast and nuclear DNA sequences,in which Ranunculales is divided into Ranunculaceae,Berberidaceae,Menispermaceae,Lardizabalaceae,Circaeasteraceae,Papaveraceae,and *** constituents and therapeutic efficacy of each taxonomic group are reviewed and the underlying connection between phylogeny,chemodiversityand clinical uses is revealed,which facilitate the conservation and sustainable utilization of Ranunculales pharmaceutical resources,as well as developing novel plant-based pharmacotherapy.

To ensure the safety of medications,it is vital to accurately authenticate species of the Apocynaceae family,which is rich in poisonous medicinal *** identified Apocynaceae species by using nuclear internal transcribed spacer 2(ITS2)and psb Atrn H based on experimental *** identification ability of ITS2 and psb A-trn H was assessed using specific genetic divergence,BLAST1,and neighbor-joining *** DNA barcoding,ITS2 and psb A-trn H regions of 122 plant samples of 31 species from 19 genera in the Apocynaceae family were *** PCR amplification for ITS2 and psb A-trn H sequences was 100%.The sequencing success rates for ITS2 and psb A-trn H sequences were 81%and 61%,*** data involved 53 sequences of the ITS2 region and 38 sequences of the psb A-trn H region were downloaded from Gen ***,the analysis showed that the interspecific divergence of Apocynaceae species was greater than its intra-specific *** results indicated that,using the BLAST1 method,ITS2 showed a high identification efficiency of 97%and 100%of the samples at the species and genus levels,respectively,via BLAST1,and psb A-trn H successfully identified 95%and 100%of the samples at the species and genus levels,*** barcode combination of ITS2/psb A-trn H successfully identified 98%and 100%of samples at the species and genus levels,***,the neighbor joining tree method also showed that barcode ITS2 and psb A-trn H could distinguish among the species within the Apocynaceae ***2 is a core barcode and psb A-trn H is a supplementary barcode for identifying species in the Apocynaceae *** results will help to improve DNA barcoding reference databases for herbal drugs and other herbal raw materials.

Acacia karroo(***) has been used as herbal medicine by the indigenous people of southern Africa for several *** potential *** as herbal medicine,its associated phytochemistry and biological activities are *** extensive literature survey revealed that *** is traditionally used to treat or manage 32 and five human and animal diseases and *** species is used as herbal medicine for diseases and ailments such as colds,diarrhoea,dysentery,***,sexually transmitted infections(STis),wounds,and also as colic and ethnovetcrinary *** classes of phytochemicals such as ***,phytosterols,***,terpenes as well as several minerals have been identified from leaves and roots of *** studies on *** indicate that it has a wide range of pharmacological activities which include antibacterial,antifungal,***,antilisterial,antimalarial,antimycobacterial,***-1 reverse transcriptase,anti-inflammatory and *** karroo has a lot of potential as a possible source of pharmaceutical products for the treatment of a wide range of both human and animal diseases and *** research should focus on the mechanisms of action of the different plant parts used as herbal *** compounds,their efficacy,toxicity and clinical relevance.
