BACKGROUND Low-grade fever during convalescence is an atypical symptom of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Reports of such cases are rare,and the mechanism and outcome of low-grade fever during COVID-19 convalescence are not completely *** report 3 cases with low-grade fever during COVID-19 convalescence and highlight the main clinical,radiographic,and laboratory characteristics,thereby increasing the level of expertise in the clinical management of COVID-19 during convalescence and facilitating individualized *** SUMMARY We describe 3 patients with COVID-19,two females aged 62 and 66 years and a male 55 years,who had low-grade fever during COVID-19 *** 3 patients had no other discomfort or comorbidities during low-grade *** on computed tomography in all 3 patients had resolved during this *** patients tested negative on two consecutive severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 tests with an interval of at least 24 h between *** temperature in all 3 patients returned to normal after several days without treatment,and fever recurrence was not *** Enhancing the knowledge of low-grade fever during COVID-19 convalescence may increase the expertise in the delivery of optimal healthcare services.

Study on influencing factors of beta cell early stage dysfunction in pre-diabetes

Objective:To study the effects of obesity,blood lipids,age and other factors on early functional defects ofβcells in ***:Thirty-seven IGR subjects who met the study conditions were randomly selected,and 42 T2DM subjects were used as the control *** items such as BMI and TG were *** steamed bread test was used to evaluate the subjects'fasting,30 minutes,60 minutes,120 minutes,180 minutes of insulin,C-peptide secretion and peak ***-IR index and Matsuda index were used to evaluate insulin ***-βand AUCI/AUCG were used to evaluateβ-cell ***:The results of BMI,TG,Matsuda index,HOMA-βand AUCI/AUCG in IGR group were higher than those in T2DM group,and HOMA-IR was lower than those in T2DM group(P<0.05).BMI and TG in IGR group were positively correlated with fasting and late phase secretion ofβcells,positively correlated with time of peak secretion ofβcells,positively correlated with HOMA-IR(P<0.05)and negatively correlated with Matsuda index(P<0.05),and age factor in IGR group was significantly correlated with HOMA-βand AUCI/AUCG.(P<0.05).After controlling for BMI and TG,age was still associated with HOMA-βand AUCI/AUCG.(P<0.05);BMI in IGR and T2DM groups were positively correlated withβ-cell HOMA-βand AUCI/AUCG functional indexes,(P<0.05);TG,late-phase insulin secretion value and peak time of insulin secretion andβ-cell secretion index AUCI/AUCG index in IGR obese group were higher than those in non-obese group(P<0.05),and insulin resistance index Matsuda was lower than those in the non-obese group.(P<0.05).Conclusion:The increase of BMI,TG and age are the important factors that affect the early function defect ofβcell in the stage of IGR,especially the correlation between BMI,TG and IGR is greater than that of T2DM,which should be the target of intervention,control and treatment in the early stage of diabetes.

Background: The prevalence of moderate to extremely severe level of depression, anxiety and stress among undergraduate students in Malaysia was ranging from 13.9% to 29.3%, 51.5% to 55.0% and 12.9% to 21.6% respectively. medical students have been shown to be more inclined to emotional disorders, especially stress and depression, as compared to their non-medical peers. Therefore, the objective of this cross-sectional study was to determine the prevalence of depression, anxiety and stress among undergraduate students in Melaka Manipal medical College. Methods: Self-administered questionnaires consisted of 3 sections: demographic data, socioeconomic data and DASS 21 questions. Data processing was performed using Microsoft Excel 2010. The psychological status was categorized according to the presence or absence of depression, anxiety and stress. The data were analyzed using Epi InfoTM 7.1.4 and SPSS. student’s t-test, Fisher Exact and Chi-square test were used to analyze the associations. Electrospun Aspirin/Eudragit/Lipid Hybrid Nanofibers for Colon-targeted Delivery Using an Energy-saving Process

Both electrospinning apparatus and their commercial products are extending their applications in a wide variety of ***,very limited reports can be found about how to implement an energy-saving process and in turn to reduce the production *** this paper,a brand-new type of coaxial spinneret with a solid core and its electrospinning methods are developed.A novel sort of medicated Eudragit/lipid hybrid nanofibers are generated for providing a colon-targeted sustained release of aspirin.A series of characterizations demonstrates that the as-prepared hybrid nanofibers have a fine linear morphology with the aspirin/lipid separated from the matrix Eudragit to form many tiny *** vitro dissolution tests exhibit that the hybrid nanofibers are able to effectively prevent the release of aspirin under an acid condition(8.7%±3.4%for the first two hours),whereas prolong the drug release time period under a neutral condition(99.7±4.2%at the seventh hour).The energy-saving mechanism is discussed in *** prepared aspirin-loaded hybrid nanofibers can be further transferred into an oral dosage form for potential application in countering COVID-19 in the future.

Background： Regenerative techniques help promote the formation of new attachment and bone filling in periodontal detects. However, the dimensions of intraosseous defects are a key determinant of periodontal regeneration outcomes. In this study, we evaluated the efficacy of use of anorganic bovine bone （ABB） graft in combination with collagen membrane （CM）, to facilitate healing ofnoncontained （1-wall） and contained （3-wall） critical size periodontal defects. Methods： The study began on March 2013, and was completed on May 2014. One-wall （7 mm × 4 mm） and 3-wall （5 mm × 4 mm） intrabony periodontal defects were surgically created bilaterally in the mandibular third premolars and first molars in eight beagles. The defects were treated with ABB in combination with CM （ABB ＋ CM group） or open flap debridement （OFD group）. The animals were euthanized at 8-week postsurgery for histological analysis. Two independent student＇s t-tests （1-wall [ABB ＋ CM] vs. 1-wall [OFD] and 3-wall [ABB ＋ CM] vs. 3-wall [OFD]） were used to assess between-group differences. Results： The mean new bone height in both 1- and 3-wall intrabony defects in the ABB ＋ CM group was significantly greater than that in the OFD group （1-wall： 4.99± 0.70 mm vs. 3.01 ± 0.37 mm, P 〈 0.05; 3-wall： 3.11±0.59 mm vs. 2.08± 0.24 mm, P 〈 0.05）. The mean new cementum in 1-wall intrabony defects in the ABB ＋ CM group was significantly greater than that in their counterparts in the OFD group （5.08 ±0.68 mm vs. 1.16 ± 0.38 mm; P 〈 0.05）. Likewise, only the 1-wall intrabony defect model showed a significant difference with respect to junctional epithelium between ABB ＋ CM and OFD groups （0.67 ±0.23 mm vs. 1.12 ± 0.28 mm, P 〈 0.05）. Conclusions： One-wall intrabony defects treated with ABB and CM did not show less periodontal regeneration than that in 3-wall intrabony defect. The noncontained l-wall intrabony defect might be a more discriminative defect model for further research into periodontal regeneration.

Comparison of traditional Chinese medicine education between China's Mainland and Australia —a case study

OBJECTIVE： To analyze and compare the curriculum and delivery of a Chinese and Australian university-level Chinese medicine program.METHODS： A review of PubMed and the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure for relevant educational papers was undertaken. Online and paper documents available at the University of Technology Sydney （UTS） and the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine （CDUTCM） were read and analyzed. In addition, in-depth interviews with academics from the two universities were conducted during 2014 to 2015.RESULTS： The two Chinese medicine programs share the common goal of providing health services to the local community, but differ in some aspects when the curricula are compared. Areas such as student profile, curriculum structure, teaching approaches and education quality assurance were found to be different. The UTS program adopts a ＂flipped learning＂ approach with the use of educational technology aiming at improving learning outcomes. On the other hand, the CDUTCM has better clinical facilities and specialist physician resources.CONCLUSION： A better understanding of the different curricula and approaches to Chinese medicine education will facilitate student learning and educational outcomes.

Potential application of high temperature of air-combustors has been described in a number of *** is because of its environmental advantages as well as its expected performance This paper is a continuation to our previous work [1] aiming at improving the performance of a micro-gas turbine *** work was originally carried out by a group of researchers of Tohoku University in Japan [2].Indeed we found out some improvement in the cycle thermal efficiency of the cycle under the same operation conditions. The cycle thermal efficiency was further improved by increasing turbine pressure ratio by introducing a steam condenser into the cycle. Proper selection of combustor and regenerator materials -ceramic in particular-to withstand higher temperature values and attain better regenerator effectiveness as well, improves the cycle efficiency On the other hand,better selection of turbine materials,should improve the cycle efficiency due to internal efficiency increase.

Inflammasome activation in mouse inner ear in response to MCMV induced hearing loss

Objective:To identify presence of inflammasome activated in mouse cochlea with sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) caused by cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection. Method:MCMV was injected into the right cerebral hemisphere in neonatal BALB/c mice at 2000 pfu virus titers. Auditory brainstem responses (ABRs) were tested to evaluate hearing at 21 days. Histopathological studies were conducted to confirm localizations of MCMV infected cells in the inner ear. Expression of inflammasome related factors was assessed by immunofluorescence, Quantitative real-time PCR and Western blotting. Results:In the mouse model of CMV induced SNHL, inflammasome related kinase Caspase-1 and downstream inflammatory factor IL-1b and IL-18 were found increased and activated after CMV infection in the cochlea. These factors could further up-regulate expression of IL-6 and TNF-a. These inflammatory factors are neurotoxicity and may contribute to hearing impairment. Furthermore, we also detected significantly increased AIM2 protein that accumulated in the SGN of cochleae with CMV infection. Significance:We have shown that inflammasome as a novel inherent immunity mechanism may contribute to hearing impairment. Conclusion:Our data indicate that imflammasome assemble in mouse inner ear in response to CMV infection. We have revealed a novel pa-thology event in CMV induced SNHL involving activation of inflammasome in mouse cochlea. Additionally, we have shown that inflammasome may be a novel target for prevention and treatment of CMV related SNHL. Copyright ? 2016, The Authors.
