Optical coherence tomography angiography metrics in different stages of diabetic macular edema

Background To investigate the optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)characteristics of diabetic macular edema(DME)at different *** This study was a cross-sectional *** diagnosed with DME were *** was classified into early,advanced,and severe *** vessel density(VD)in the superficial vascular plexus(sVP),deep vascular plexus(DVP)and foveal avascular zone(FAZ)parameters,including FAZ area,FAZ perimeter,acircularity index and foveal VD in a 300-μm-wide region around the FAZ(FD-300),were calculated by the AngioVue software.A multivariate generalized estimating equation was used to evaluate the associations between visual acuity and OCTA *** Ninety-two eyes from 74 patients with DME were included in this *** to early(P=0.006)and advanced DME(P=0.003),the acircularity index was higher in severe *** whole and parafoveal VD in the DVP decreased in eyes with severe DME compared to early DME(P=0.018,P=0.005,respectively)and advanced DME(P=0.035,P=0.012,respectively).In the multivariate generalized estimating equation,DME severity,FAZ area and foveal thickness were positively associated with worse visual acuity(P=0.001,P=0.007 and P=0.001,respectively).Conclusion Compared to early and advanced DME,severe DME showed increased irregularity in the FAZ and more extensive vessel damage in the *** severity level of DME,larger FAZ area,and increased foveal thickness could be risk factors for poor visual *** registration The protocol was published in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry(ChiCTR2000033082).

Vibrio parahaemolyticus,a gram-negative halophilic bacterium that naturally inhabits coastal waters,causes gastroenteritis,skin infections,and septicemia in human beings[1].This bacterium produces multiple virulence factors,including thermostable direct hemolysin(TDH),TDH-related hemolysin(TRH),type Ⅲ secretion system 1(T3ss1),T3ss2,type Ⅵ secretion system 1(T6ss1),and T6ss2[1].Furthermore,Ⅴ.parahaemolyticus forms biofilms on the surface,which help it in adapting to unfavorable conditions[2].Mature biofilm formation requires special structures,including lateral and polar flagella,exopolysaccharide(EPs),and type Ⅳ pili[2].

Magnesium(Mg)alloys are considered to be a new generation of revolutionary medical ***-beam powder bed fusion(PBF-LB)is suitable for fabricating metal implants withpersonalized and complicated ***,the as-built part usually exhibits undesirable microstructure and unsatisfactory *** this work,WE43 parts were firstly fabricated by PBF-LB and then subjected to heat *** a high densification rate of 99.91%was achieved using suitable processes,the as-built parts exhibited anisotropic and layeredmicrostructure with heterogeneously precipitated Nd-rich *** heat treatment,fine and nano-scaled Mg24Y5particles were ***,theα-Mg grainsunderwent recrystallization and turned coarsened slightly,which effectively weakened thetexture intensity and reduced the *** a consequence,the yield strength and ultimate tensile strength were significantly improved to(250.2±3.5)MPa and(312±3.7)MPa,respectively,while the elongation was still maintained at a high level of 15.2%.Furthermore,the homogenized microstructure reduced the tendency of localized corrosion and favoredthe development of uniform passivation ***,the degradation rate of WE43 parts was decreased by an order of ***,in-vitro cell experiments proved their favorable biocompatibility.

Doxorubicin(DOX)is a commonly administered chemotherapy drug for treating hematological malignancies and solid tumors;however,its clinical application is limited by significant ***(Cyn)is a flavonoid glycoside distributed in honeysuckle,with confirmed potential biological functions in regulating inflammation,pyroptosis,and oxidative ***,the effects of Cyn were evaluated in a DOX-induced cardiotoxicity(DIC)mouse model,which was established by intraperitoneal injections of DOX(5 mg/kg)once a week for three *** mice in the treatment group received dexrazoxane,MCC950,and Cyn every two *** biochemistry,histopathology,immunohistochemistry,reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR),and western blotting were conducted to investigate the cardioprotective effects and potential mechanisms of Cyn *** results demonstrated the significant benefits of Cyn treatment in mitigating DIC;it could effectively alleviate oxidative stress to a certain extent,maintain the equilibrium of cell apoptosis,and enhance the cardiac function of *** effects were realized via regulating the transcription levels of pyroptosis-related genes,such as nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor protein 3(NLRP3),caspase-1,and gasdermin D(GsDMD).Mechanistically,for DOX-induced myocardial injury,Cyn could significantly modulate the expression of pivotal genes,including adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase(AMPK),peroxisome proliferator-activated receptorγcoactivator-1α(PGC-1α),sirtuin 3(sIRT3),and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2).We attribute it to the mediation of AMPK/sIRT3/Nrf2 pathway,which plays a central role in preventing DOX-induced cardiomyocyte *** conclusion,the present study confirms the therapeutic potential of Cyn in DIC by regulating the AMPK/sIRT3/Nrf2 pathway.

High-performance piezoresistive sensors based on transfer-free large-area Pdse_(2) films for human motion and health care monitoring

Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)are needed in highperformance piezoresistive sensors due to their strong strain-induced bandgap modification and thereby large gauge ***,integrating a conventional high-temperature chemical vapor deposition(CVD)-grown TMD with a flexible substrate necessitates a transfer process that inevitably degrades the sensing properties of the TMDs and increases the overall fabrication *** present a high-performance piezoresistive strain sensor that employs largearea Pdse_(2) films grown directly on polyimide(PI)substrates via plasma-assisted selenization of a sputtered Pd *** reliable strain transfer from the substrate to the Pdse_(2) film ensures an outstanding strain-sensing capability of the ***,the sensors have a gauge factor of up to315±2.1,a response time under 25 ms,a detection limit of 8×10^(-6),and an exceptional stability of over 104 loadingunloading *** attaching the sensors to the skin surface,we demonstrate their application for measuring physiological parameters in health care monitoring,including motion,voice,and arterial pulse ***,using the Pdse_(2) film sensor combined with deep learning technology,we achieved intelligent recognition of artery temperature from arterial pulse signals with only a 2%difference between predicted and actual *** excellent sensing performance,together with the advantages of low-temperature fabrication and simple device structure,make the Pdse_(2) film sensor promising for wearable electronics and health care sensing systems.

Angiogenesis is considered a hallmark pathophysiological process in tumor development. Aberrant vasculature resulting from tumor angiogenesis plays a critical role in the development of resistance to breast cancer treatments, via exacerbation of tumor hypoxia, decreased effective drug concentrations within tumors, and immune-related mechanisms. Antiangiogenic therapy can counteract these breast cancer resistance factors by promoting tumor vascular normalization. The combination of antiangiogenic therapy with chemotherapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy has emerged as a promising approach for overcoming drug resistance in breast cancer. This review examines the mechanisms associated with angiogenesis and the interactions among tumor angiogenesis, the hypoxic tumor microenvironment, drug distribution, and immune mechanisms in breast cancer. Furthermore, this review provides a comprehensive summary of specific antiangiogenic drugs, and relevant studies assessing the reversal of drug resistance in breast cancer. The potential mechanisms underlying these interventions are discussed, and prospects for the clinical application of antiangiogenic therapy to overcome breast cancer treatment resistance are highlighted.

Mechanism Exploration of Euphorbia fischeriana steud. for Liver Cancer Based on Aspartic Acid Identification in Metabolomics

Objective:To investigate the anti-liver cancer effects and aspartic acid(Asp)-related action mechanism of Euphorbia fischeriana steud.(LD).Methods:The mice model of liver cancer was established by injection of H22 *** 5 days,mice were randomly divided into model group,sorafenib group(20 mg/kg),LD high-dose(LDH,1.36 g/kg) group,LD medium-dose(LDM,0.68 g/kg) group,and LD low-dose(LDL,0.34 g/kg)group,10 mice each *** were intragastrically administered to the mice once daily for 10 days,*** weight,tumor size and tumor weight were *** index was *** changes of liver cancer tissues were evaluated by hematoxylin and eosin staining and TUNEL *** chromatography-mass spectrometer was used to analyze different metabolites between the model and LDH ***:After LD treatment,tumor weight,tumor size and hepatic index were reduced compared with the model *** and karyorrhexis of tumor cells were ***,61 differential metabolites(18 up-regulated,43 down-regulated) were affirmed and 20 pathways of KEGG(Ps were significantly increased after adding Asp into the *** then,the cell proliferation effect induced by Asp was ameliorated by ***:The anti-liver cancer efficacy of LD extract was validated in H22 mice model,and inhibition of Asp level might be the underlying mechanism.

Combined effect of cortical superficial siderosis and cerebral microbleed on short-term and long-term outcomes after intracerebral haemorrhage

Background and purpose Cortical superficial siderosis(css)and cerebral microbleed(CMB)have distinct effects on intracerebral haemorrhage(ICH).We aim to investigate the combined effect of css and CMB on outcomes after *** Based on a single-centre stroke registry database,patients with spontaneous ICH who had CT scan within 48 hours after ictus and MRI subsequently were *** patients were divided into four groups(css-CMB−,css-CMB+,css+CMB−,css+CMB+)according to css and CMB on susceptibility-weighted image of *** outcomes were haematoma volume on admission and unfavourable outcome defined as modified Rankin scale scores≥3 at 3 *** outcomes were all-cause death,recurrence of stroke and ICH during follow-up(median follow-up 2.0 years,IQR 1.0-3.0 years).Results A total of 673 patients were identified from 1044 patients with spontaneous ICH.131(19.5%)had css and 468(69.5%)had *** with css+CMB+had the highest rate of poor outcome at 3 months,as well as all-cause death,recurrent stroke and ICH during *** css−patients,CMB was associated with smaller haematoma(β−0.13;95%CI−0.22 to−0.03;p=0.009),but it still increased risks of recurrent ICH(OR 4.6;95%CI 1.3 to 15.6;p=0.015)and stroke(OR 2.0;95%CI 1.0 to 4.0;p=0.049).These effects of CMB became unremarkable in the context of css+.Conclusions Patients with different combinations of css and CMB have distinct patterns of short-term and long-term *** CMB is related to restrained haematoma,it does not improve long-term outcomes.
