Baicalin Antagonizes Prostate Cancer Stemness via Inhibiting Notch1/NF-κB Signaling Pathway

Epidemiological analysis of snakebite victims in southwestern Iran

Objective:To investigate the prevalence of snakebites and associated epidemiologic factors in Khorram-shahr County,Iran,between 2013 and ***:This was a cross-sectional descriptive-analytical *** was collected and recorded via *** data included gender,age,occurrence regions,bite site,time of being bitten,month and *** were analyzed by Chi-square and t-tests with SPSS version ***:A total of 102 cases of snakebites occurred in Khorram-shahr County of Khuzestan Province,southwestern *** were 75 men(73.5%)and 27 women(26.4%),without significant difference in *** highest frequency of snakebites was observed in the age group of 41-50 years with 28 cases(27.4%).In total,58 cases(56.9%)occurred in urban areas and 44 cases(43.1%)in rural *** statistically significant difference was observed between the age groups or residential *** occurred in May with 19 cases(18.6%),spring with 45(44.1%)and summer with 45(44.1%).The results showed significant difference among different seasons and months of the *** were in feet in 62 cases(60.8%)and hands in 36 cases(35.3%)which were bitten more than other organs,respectively,with significant difference among different bite sites in the *** highest and lowest frequencies of snakebites were observed between 18:00 and 24:00 with 43 cases(42.2%)and between 6:00 and 12:00 with 14 cases(13.7%),with a significant difference among different hours of the ***:Useful information about snakebites,venomous snakes,their hazards,prevention of bites and the importance of early hospital referral and treatment of victims should be provided to people using different educational tools.

Long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs)are abundantly expressed in the central nervous system and exert a critical role in gene regulation via multiple biological *** uncover the functional significance and molecular mechanisms of lncRNAs in spinal cord injury(SCI),the expression signatures of lncRNAs were profiled using RNA sequencing(RNA-seq)technology in a Sprague-Dawley rat model of the 10th thoracic vertebra complete transection *** showed that 116 of 14,802 detected lncRNAs were differentially expressed,among which 16—including eight up-regulated(H19,Vof16,Hmox2-ps1,LOC100910973,Ybx1-ps3,Nnat,Gcgr,LOC680254)and eight down-regulated(Rmrp,Terc,Ngrn,Ppp2r2b,Cox6a2,Rpl37a-ps1,LOC360231,Rpph1)—demonstrated fold changes>2 in response to transection SCI.A subset of these RNA-seq results was validated by quantitative real-time *** levels of 821 mRNAs were also significantly altered post-SCI;592 mRNAs were up-regulated and 229 mRNAs were down-regulated by more than *** Ontology(GO)and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)analyses showed that differentially expressed mRNAs were related to GO biological processes and molecular functions such as injury and inflammation response,wound repair,and apoptosis,and were significantly enriched in 15 KEGG pathways,including cell phagocytosis,tumor necrosis factor alpha pathway,and leukocyte *** results reveal the expression profiles of lncRNAs and mRNAs in the rat spinal cord of a complete transection model,and these differentially expressed lncRNAs and mRNAs represent potential novel targets for SCI *** suggest that lncRNAs may play an important role in the early immuno-inflammatory response after spinal cord *** study was approved by the Administration committee of Experimental Animals,Guangdong Province,China.

Do the RMB exchange rate and global commodity prices have asymmetric or symmetric effects on China’s stock prices?

With the rapid expansion of the RMB exchange rate’s floating range,the effects of the RMB exchange rate and global commodity price changes on China’s stock prices are likely to *** study uses both auto regressive distributed lag(ARDL)and nonlinear ARDL(NARDL)approaches to explore the symmetric and asymmetric effects of the RMB exchange rate and global commodity prices on China’s stock *** findings show that without considering the critical variable of global commodity prices,there is no cointegration relationship between the RMB exchange rate and China’s stock prices,and the coefficient of the RMB exchange rate is not statistically ***,when we introduce global commodity prices into the NARDL model,the result shows that the RMB exchange rate has a negative effect on China’s stock prices,that there indeed exists a long-run cointegration relationship among the RMB exchange rate,global commodity prices,and stock prices in the NARDL model,and that global commodity price changes have an asymmetric effect on China’s stock prices in the long ***,China’s stock prices are more sensitive to increases than decreases in global commodity ***,increases in global commodity prices cause China’s stock prices to decline *** contrast,the same magnitude of decline in global commodity prices induces a smaller increase in China’s stock prices.

Esophageal variceal pressure influence on the effect of ligation

AIM: To explore the effect of in vitro porcine esophageal variceal pressure on complete ligation degree for polycyclic ligators. METHODS: An in vitro model of experimental porcine venous vessels was used to test various venous pressures. Three treatment groups were designated according to the preset pressure range: P1 = 25-30 cm H2O; P2 = 35-40 cm H2O; P3 = 45-50 cm H2 O. The effect of pressure on ligation was assessed and compared among the groups. RESULTS: Complete ligation was achieved at a rate of 56.25%(18/32) in group P1, 37.5%(12/32) in group P2, and 33.33%(11/33) in group P3(χ2 = 3.6126; P = 0.0573). CONCLUSION: Higher variceal pressures impair the ligation completion rate. Therefore, measuring variceal pressure may help predict the effect of endoscopic ligation and guide treatment choice.

Treatment of malignant brain tumors continues to challenge scientists and clinicians *** of these tumors within the central nervous system(CNS),which is considered a'privileged" organ,can prevent the penetration of chemotherapeutic agents through the blood-brain barrier(BBB).To overcome this limitation,nanoparticles are taken up and transported bymacrophage and then delivered directly into the *** this study,we used macrophage touptake the folate-targeted bifunctional miclles loaded with near-infrared(NIR)dye ICG-Der-01and investigate the dynamic bio-distributions of macrophage after intravenous injection intotumor-bearing *** vitro cellular experiments by confocal microscopy indicated that theuptake of micelles in macrophage was greatly enhanced due to the folate receptor *** bio-distributions of macrophage showed a rapid clearing rate through the liver int estine path *** conclusion,macrophage could potentially be used as nanoparticle drug carriers andrequire further investigation.

Virulence determinants and biofilm formation in clinical isolates of Enterococcus: A cross-sectional study
