Objective:Omicron,a severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)variant,is responsible for numerous infections in *** study investigates the association between the use of Seven-Flavor Herb Tea(SFHT)and the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection to develop precise and differentiated strategies for control of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Methods:This case-control study was conducted at shelter hospitals and quarantine hotels in China.A total of 5348 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients were enrolled between April 1 and May 31,2022,while 2190 uninfected individuals served as healthy *** questionnaires were used to collect data on demographics,underlying diseases,vaccination status,and use of *** were propensity-score-matched using 1:1 nearest-neighbor matching of the logit of the propensity ***,a conditional logistic regression model was used for data ***:Overall,7538 eligible subjects were recruited,with an average age of[45.54±16.94]*** age of COVID-19 patients was significantly higher than that of uninfected individuals([48.25±17.48]years vs[38.92±13.41]years;t=22.437,P<0.001).A total of 2190 COVID-19 cases were matched with uninfected individuals at a 1:1 *** use of SFHT(odds ratio=0.753,95%confidence interval:0.692,0.820)was associated with a lower risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection compared to untreated ***:Our findings suggest that taking SFHT reduces the risk of SARS-CoV-2 *** is a useful study in the larger picture of COVID-19 management,but data from large-sample multi-center,randomized clinical trial are warranted to confirm the finding.

THE EFFECTS OF ZINC SUPPLEMENTATION TO CHINESE RURAL PREGNANT WOMEN AND THEIR PREGNANCY OUTCOME

Objective: TO assess the effects of zinc supplementation to Chinese rural pregnant with cereal-based diet and their pregnancy outcome. Methods A total of 156 women were given randomly in double blind 5mg/d (group A, GPA, n=37),10mg/d (group B, GPB, n=40), 30mg (group C, GpC, n = 39) Of zinc supplement or placebo (group D, GpD, n = 40 ) starting from, the first visit at the prenatal clinic (average 9-week gestation ) till the delivery. Results Mean dietary zinc intake of these women was about 10mg/d, and more than 65% of dietary zinc were taken from cereals, grains and vegetables. Serum zinc concentrations at 25-and 32-gestation in GpC and in the umbilical cord blood of their babies at birth significantly increased. Infants in GpC had a significantly heavier birth weight (283. 079, P = 0. 016 ) and larger head circumference(0. 63cm, P = 0. 035) than infants in GpD. The incidence of low birth weight, preterm and intrauterine growth retardation infants was significantly reduced in GpC. As compared to GpD (38. 34 ± 1. 34 weeks), the duration of gestation in GpD(39. 12± 1. 11 weeks) was prolonged (P= 0. 032). Serum zinc concentration at 25-weeks gestation was negatively correlated with duration of gestation (P = 0. 009 ). Apgar score of the infants in GpC was significantly higher than that in GpD, and serum zinc concentration at 32-weeks gestation was positively associated with infant Apgar score (P = 0. 015 ). Conclusion Zinc supplementation in 30mg/d to Chinese rural women during pregnancy could significantly improve their pregnancy outcome. Both 5mg/d and 10mg/d of zinc supplementation had no detected benefits to them.

背景:园艺疗法作为一种新兴的精神分裂症康复治疗手段逐渐引起重视,但目前研究很少,也缺乏相应的规范化治疗方案。目标:探讨园艺疗法对慢性精神分裂症住院患者的疗效,探索园艺疗法在精神卫生中心规范化实施的可能性。方法:选择2015年9月—2015年12月在本院康复病房符合入组标准并签署知情同意书的精神分裂症患者共110例,用随机数字法分为试验组和对照组,两组均进行常规的药物治疗,试验组合并园艺治疗,在具有国家二级心理咨询师资格的康复治疗师的带领下进行园艺治疗,每周3次,每次90min,共12周。具体内容包括对花卉进行配土、栽植、浇水、施肥及修剪;对田园进行泥土翻耕、播种、浇水、施肥、拔草及捉虫以及花草的观赏、蔬菜的采摘、烹饪、品尝。每次课程结束前10min由患者互相交流心得体会治疗师总结并点评。两组在基线、治疗4周末、治疗12周末予以阳性和阴性症状量表(PANSS)的评估。结果:两组性别、年龄、病程、婚姻、文化、使用的抗精神病药物平均剂量、在治疗前PANSS得分均无显著差异,具有可比性。试验组PANSS得分在治疗4周末、治疗12周末随访时较对照组得分低,差别均有统计学意义(t=-4.03,p<0.001;t=-5.57,p<0.001);自身前后比较差异均有统计学意义(试验组F=253.03,p<0.001;对照组F=67.66,p均<0.001),两组阳性症状量表和一般精神病理量表得分在治疗4周和治疗12周随访时差异均有统计学意义(4周随访t=-3.69,p<0.001;t=-3.67,p<0.001;12周随访t=-3.55,p=0.001;t=-3.34,p<0.001),自身前后比较差异也有统计学意义(阳性量表试验组F=13.76 p<0.001;对照组F=5.12,p=0.02;一般精神病理量表试验组F=156.40,p<0.001,对照组F=56.72,p<0.001)。两组之间阴性量表得分在治疗12周末时差异有统计学意义(t=-2.76,p=0.007),自身前后比较差异均有统计学意义(试验组F=103.94,p<0.001;对照组F=34.03,p<0.001)。结论:药物治疗可改善慢性精神分裂症住院患者的症状,但药物治疗合并园艺治疗的效果更加明显;其中对于阳性症状、阴性症状均有改善。

Impacts of Types and Degree of Obesity on Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Related Dyslipidemia in Chinese School-Age Children?

Objective To explore the impacts of types and degree of obesity on non‐alcoholic fatty liver disease （NAFLD） and related lipids disturbance in Chinese school‐age children. Methods A total of 1 452 school‐age Children of 7 to 17 years were recruited in Beijing with representative cluster sampling method. Data of anthropometric measurements including weight, height and waist circumference were collected from March to May of 2007. Body mass index（BMI）was calculated. Blood samples were obtained and lipid profiles including triglyceride （TG）, total cholesterol （TC）, high‐density lipoprotein cholesterol （HDL‐C） and low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol （LDL‐C） were measured, while glutamate‐pyruvate transaminase （ALT） and glutamic‐oxalacetic transaminase （AST） were determined to evaluate liver function. The liver was also scanned by sonography, and abnormal hepatic sonograms were documented. NAFLD was diagnosed according to the criteria recommended by the Fatty Liver and Alcoholic Liver Disease Study Group under the Chinese Liver Disease Association. Analysis of covariance （ANOVA）, Chi‐square test for trend and binary logistic regression analysis were performed. Results The dyslipidemia and ultrasonographic fatty liver deteriorated with the degree of obesity defined either by BMI or waist circumference. Compared with BMI, waist circumference contributed more to the development of dyslipidemia, fatty liver and NAFLD. The highest levels of TG, TC, LDL‐C, and lowest level of HDL‐C were seen in the mixed obese group followed by abdominal obese, peripheral obese and non‐obese ones. Adjusted for gender and age, the odds ratios （ORs） and their 95% confidence intervals of peripheral obesity, abdominal obesity and mixed obesity were 0, 10.93 （0.98‐121.96） and 79.16 （10.95‐572.44） for predicting NAFLD; 12.61 （1.24‐127.78）, 19.39 （5.23‐71.85）, and 93.21 （29.56‐293.90） for predicting ultrasonographic fatty liver; 1.78 （0.59‐5.44）, 3.01 （1.91‐4.77）, and 4.64 （3.52‐6.12） for predicting d

Objective:To investigate the prevalence of fecundity and other reproductive problems among a group of farmers in Kavar district of Fars province,southern ***:A total of 268 randomly selected married male farm workers were investigated.A questionnaire was devised and validated[Cronbach'sα-coefficient(0.81)].Subjects were directly interviewed and the questionnaire forms were completed for ***:The prevalence of current primary infertility aniong the studied population was about7.4%(P=0.001).Similarly,6.3%of farm workers had offsprings with congenital ***,1.5%and 9%of farmers'wives had a history of stillbirth and abortion,*** was concluded that the prevalence of current primary infertility were higher aniong farm workers families than in the normal population(P<0.05).Additionally,stillbirth and spontaneous abortion were more common in the wives of farm workers than in the normal population,although the difference did not reach statistical ***:These effects are likely to be attributed to the exposure of farm workers to pesticides.

Computed tomography perfusion in evaluating the therapeutic effect of transarterial chemoembolization for hepatocellular carcinoma

AIM： To prospectively assess the changes in parameters of computed tomography （CT） perfusion pre- and post-transarterial chemoembolization （TACE） of hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） in different treatment response groups, and to correlate the changes with various responses of HCC to TACE. METHODS： Thirty-nine HCC patients underwent CT perfusion examinations pre-（1 d before TACE） and post-treatment （4 wk after TACE）. The response evaluation criteria for solid tumors （RECIST） were referred to when treatment responses were distributed. Wilcoxon-signed ranks test was used to compare the differences in CT perfusion parameters pre- and post- TACE for different response groups. RESULTS： Only one case had treatment response to CR and the CT perfusion maps of post-treatment lesion displayed complete absence of signals. In the PR treatment response group, hepatic artery perfusion （HAP）, hepatic arterial fracture （HAF） and hepatic blood volume （HBV） of viable tumors post-TACE were reduced compared with pre-TACE （P = 0.001, 0.030 and 0.001, respectively）. In the SD group, all CT perfusion parameters were not significantly different pre- and post-TACE. In the PD group, HAP, HAl=, portal vein perfusion （PVP） and hepatic blood flow （HBF） of viable tumors post-TACE were significantly increased compared with pre-TACE （P = 0.005, 0.012, 0.035 and 0.005, respectively）. CONCLUSION： Changes in CT perfusion parameters of viable tumors are correlated with different responses of HCC to TACE. Therefore, CT perfusion imaging is a feasible technique for monitoring response of HCC to TACE.

Carcinoma of the gastroesophageal junction in Chinese patients

Carcinoma of the gastroesophageal junction(GEJ) is defined as carcinoma that crosses the GEJ line,irrespective of where the tumor epicenter is *** group of cancer is rare but *** on study results from the majority of epidemiologic and clinicopathologic investigations carried out in Western countries,this cancer is believed to arise from Barrett's esophagus(BE) and includes both distal esophageal and proximal gastric carcinomas because of similar characteristics in epidemiology,clinicopathology,and molecular pathobiology in relation to *** such,the most recent American Joint committee on Cancer staging manual requires staging all GEJ carcinomas with the rule for esophageal adenocarcinoma(EA).This mandate has been challenged recently by the data from several studies carried out mainly in Chinese *** emerging evidence derivedfrom those studies suggests:(1) both BE and EA are uncommon in the Chinese population;(2) almost all GEJ cancers in Chinese arise in the proximal stomach and show the features of proximal gastric cancer,not those of EA;(3) application of the new cancer staging rule to GEJ cancer of Chinese patients cannot stratify patients' prognosis effectively;and(4) prognostic factors of GEJ cancer in Chinese are similar,but not identical,to those of *** conclusion,the recent evidence suggests that GEJ cancer in Chinese shows distinct clinicopathologic characteristics that are different from *** investigations in molecular pathology may help illustrate the underlying pathogenesis mechanisms of this cancer in Chinese patients and better manage patients with this fatal disease.
