Human–object interaction(HOI)detection is crucial for human-centric image understanding which aims to infer human,action,object triplets within an *** studies often exploit visual features and the spatial configuration of a human–object pair in order to learn the action linking the human and object in the *** argue that such a paradigm of pairwise feature extraction and action inference can be applied not only at the whole human and object instance level,but also at the part level at which a body part interacts with an object,and at the semantic level by considering the semantic label of an object along with human appearance and human–object spatial configuration,to infer the *** thus propose a multi-level pairwise feature network(PFNet)for detecting human–object *** network consists of three parallel streams to characterize HOI utilizing pairwise features at the above three levels;the three streams are finally fused to give the action *** experiments show that our proposed PFNet outperforms other state-of-the-art methods on the VCOCO dataset and achieves comparable results to the state-of-the-art on the HICO-DET dataset.

Evolution of AVS video coding standards: twenty years of innovation and development

Ever since the founding of the Audio and Video Coding Standard(AVS) Workgroup of China in 2002, it has been dedicated to advancing and innovating the digital audio-video industry with highly efficient and economical encoding/decoding technologies. Three representative generations of video coding standards have been finalized and published, consistently improving the coding performance in the past two *** series of AVS standards establish solid foundations for ubiquitous video applications in the areas including acquisition, coding, production, delivery, integrated system, public service, general screen content, and mixed reality media. Along with the standardization process, an extensive amount of studies have been carried out on efficiency-aware designation, algorithm optimization, and hardware implementation of these innovative video coding techniques. This paper explains how those developed techniques provide a lasting impact on the video coding community, extensively, technologically, and systematically. In particular, we provide a comprehensive survey of the three generations of the standards, and timely and in-depth summarize the efforts of the AVS video coding standards in the twenty years. The rate-distortion performance comparisons,in particular in terms of the 8K ultra-high-definition(UHD) contents, reflect the elegant design of the state-of-the-art AVS3 standards. We have also elaborated on a variety of well-established and promising applications, including commercial level real-time 8K encoder, high-frame-rate decoder chip for cell phone,and live streaming solution for sports. In addition, the China Central Television(CCTV) of China media Group(CMG), the state television of China, has officially launched the first 8K broadcasting channel(CCTV-8K) since 2021 using AVS3. Given the significant success realized by the AVS standards, it is envisioned that a new era of 8K UHD video is arriving.

The cuticle of dung beetle is a layered composite material in micro- or nano-scale. Dung beetle can fly, walk and dig. It can shovel and compact dung of mammals into balls. It use foreleg to walk, midleg and hindleg to hold and impel dung ball. Its two foreleges as digging legs are developed. The factors impacting the nanoindentation testing results of the femur cuticle of forelegs of dung beetle Copris ochus Motschulsky were examined. The nanomechanical test instrument used for the tests was Hysitron nanomechanical system. The results shown that the holding time and loading time are important factors im- pacting the accuracy of such indentation properties as reduced modulus (Er) and the harness ( H ) of the femur cuticle of the forelegs of dung beetle Copris ochus Motschulsky in nanoscale. There exists a threshold holding time of 20 s for the reduced modulus of the femur cuticle. The tests of nanoindentation creep property and the regression analysis of relationship between the depth increment at the maximum load and the time further confirmed the correction of the above threshold holding time. There exist visco-elastic-plastic behaviour and creep phenomenon in the femur cuticle during indenting. Its creep property during the holding procedure at maximum load can be regressed by a general logarithmic equation. The equation fitted by the testing data is ? h = 54.83452 ln(0.00723t +1.00486), where, ? h is the depth increment at the maximum load and t is the time.

We investigate the green resource allocation to minimize the energy consumption of the users in mobile edge computing systems,where task offloading decisions,transmit power,and computation resource allocation are jointly *** considered energy consumption minimization problem is a non-convex mixed-integer nonlinear programming problem,which is challenging to ***,we develop a joint search and Successive Convex Approximation(SCA)scheme to optimize the non-integer variables and integer variables in the inner loop and outer loop,***,in the inner loop,we solve the optimization problem with fixed task offloading *** to the non-convex objective function and constraints,this optimization problem is still non-convex,and thus we employ the SCA method to obtain a solution satisfying the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker *** the outer loop,we optimize the offloading decisions through exhaustive ***,the computational complexity of the exhaustive search method is greatly *** reduce the complexity,a heuristic scheme is proposed to obtain a sub-optimal *** results demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed schemes.

With the rapid development of computing technology, three-dimensional （3D） human body models and their dynamic motions are widely used in the digital entertainment industry. Human performance mainly involves human body shapes and motions. Key research problems in human performance animation include how to capture and analyze static geometric appearance and dynamic movement of human bodies, and how to simulate human body motions with physical effects. In this survey, according to the main research directions of human body performance capture and animation, we summarize recent advances in key research topics, namely human body surface reconstruction, motion capture and synthesis, as well as physics-based motion simulation, and further discuss future research problems and directions. We hope this will be helpful for readers to have a comprehensive understanding of human performance capture and animation.

An evaluation of moving shadow detection techniques

Shadows of moving objects may cause serious problems in many computer vision applications,including object tracking and object recognition. In common object detection systems, due to having similar characteristics, shadows can be easily misclassified as either part of moving objects or independent moving objects. To deal with the problem of misclassifying shadows as foreground, various methods have been introduced. This paper addresses the main problematic situations associated with shadows and provides a comprehensive performance comparison on up-todate methods that have been proposed to tackle these problems. The evaluation is carried out using benchmark datasets that have been selected and modified to suit the purpose. This survey suggests the ways of selecting shadow detection methods under different scenarios.

Inexact graph matching using a hierarchy of matching processes

Inexact graph matching algorithms have proved to be useful in many applications,such as character recognition,shape analysis,and image analysis. Inexact graph matching is,however,inherently an NP-hard problem with exponential computational complexity. Much of the previous research has focused on solving this problem using heuristics or estimations. Unfortunately,many of these techniques do not guarantee that an optimal solution will be found. It is the aim of the proposed algorithm to reduce the complexity of the inexact graph matching process,while still producing an optimal solution for a known application. This is achieved by greatly simplifying each individual matching process,and compensating for lost robustness by producing a hierarchy of matching processes. The creation of each matching process in the hierarchy is driven by an application-specific criterion that operates at the subgraph scale. To our knowledge,this problem has never before been approached in this manner. Results show that the proposed algorithm is faster than two existing methods based on graph edit *** proposed algorithm produces accurate results in terms of matching graphs,and shows promise for the application of shape matching. The proposed algorithm can easily be extended to produce a sub-optimal solution if required.

Unlike the 2007–2008 market crash,which was caused by a banking failure and led to an economic recession,the 1918 inﬂuenza pandemic triggered a worldwideﬁnancial *** usually affect the global economy,and the COVID-19 pandemic is no *** stock markets have fallen over 40%,and companies are shutting down,ending contracts,and issuing volun-tary and involuntary leaves for thousands of *** economic effects have led to an increase in unemployment rates,crime,and *** pandemics’economic effects,especially on the stock market,has not been urgent or feasible until ***,with advances in artiﬁcial intelligence(AI)and the inter-connectivity that social media provides,such research has become *** this paper,we propose a COVID-19-based stock market prediction system(C19-SM2)that utilizes social *** AI system enables economists to study how COVID-19 pandemic data inﬂuence social media and,hence,the stock market.C19-SM2 gathers COVID-19 infection and death cases reported by the authorities and social media data from a geographic area and extracts the sentiments and events that occur in that *** information is then fed to the support vector machine(SVM)and random forest and random tree classiﬁers along with current stock market ***,the system produces a projection of the stock market’s movement during the next *** tested the system with the Dow Jones Industrial Average(DJI)and the Tadawul All Share Index(TASI).Our system achieved a stock market prediction accuracy of 99.71%,substantially higher than the 89.93%accuracy reported in the related literature;the inclusion of COVID-19 data improved accuracy by 9.78%.
