We propose an efficient scheme for realizing two-mode squeezing for two cavity modes with an atomic ensemble trapped in the cavity and driven by two classical fields. Through a suitable choice of the driving classical fields, the evolution dynamics of the two cavity modes is decoupled with the atomic system and described by a two-mode squeezing operator. We show that a highly squeezed state can be obtained at the output even with a bad cavity. The required experimental techniques are within the scope of what can be obtained in the BEG-cavity setup.

For the first time, we derive the photon number cumulant for two-mode squeezed state and show that its cumulant expansion leads to normalization of two-mode photon subtracted-squeezed states and photon added- squeezed states. We show that the normalization is related to Jacobi polynomial, so the cumulant expansion in turn represents the new generating function of Jacobi polynomial.

We derive some new generating function formulae of the two-variable Hermite polynomials, such as ∞∑n=0tm/m!Hn,2m（x）,∞∑n=0sntm/n!m!H2n,2m（x,y）,and ∞∑n=0sntm/n!m!H2n＋l,2m＋k（x,y）.We employ the operator Hermite polynomial method and the technique of integration within an ordered product of operators to solve these problems, which will be useful in constructing new optical field states.

Numerical quadrature is an important ingredient of Galerkin meshless methods. A new numerical quadrature technique, partition of unity quadrature （PUQ）,for Galerkin meshless methods was presented. The technique is based on finite covering and partition of unity. There is no need to decompose the physical domain into small cell. It possesses remarkable integration accuracy. Using Element-free Galerkin methods as example, Galerkin meshless methods based on PUQ were studied in detail. Meshing is always not required in the procedure of constitution of approximate function or numerical quadrature, so Galerkin meshless methods based on PUQ are “truly” meshless methods.

A microcalorimeter is studied for testing heat capacity of thin films. The microcalorimeter is a suspended membrane supported by six microbridges, which is fabricated by the front-side surface micromachining. Compared to the bulk micro-machined one, the microcalorimeter has excellent mechanical strength and precisely controlled pattern size as well as good thermal characteristics that are essential to a microcalorimeter. The heating rate of the microcalorimeter is up to 2 × 10^5Kis with 4.5mW heating power in vacuum, and the heat capacity of the corresponding empty microcalorimeter is about 23.4nJ/K at 30OK. By a pulse calorimetry, the heat capacity of A1 thin films with thickness of 40-1150nm are measured in the temperature range from 300K to 420K in vacuum. The mass of each sample is evaluated and the specific heat capacity is calculated. The results show that specific heat capacity of the 1150-nm A1 film agrees well with the data of bulk A1 reported in the literature. For the thinner films, enhanced heat capacity is observed.

The bubble radius at the early stage of discharge in water is investigated using high-speed photography. Some simulation results on the bubble radius are presented, which are in agreement with the experimental results, with a maximum difference of about 10%. The reasons why the peak pressure of the first shock wave is only related to the energy released in the bubble during the first half period are addressed. The energy released in the bubble after the first half period increases the bubble pulsation period, but it produces no more than 10% under the peak pressure of the second shock wave.

This work aims to numerically study the melting natural convection in a rectangular enclosure heated by three discreet protruding electronic chips. The beat sources generate heat at a constant and uniform volumetric rate. A part of the power generated in the heat sources is dissipated to a phase change material （PCM, n-eicosane with melting temperature, Tm = 36℃）. Numerical investigations were carded out in order to examine the effects of the plate thickness on the maximum temperature of electronic components, the percentage contribution of plate heat conduction on the total removed heat and temperature profiles in the plate. Con＇elations for the dimensionless secured working time （time to reach the threshold temperature, Tcr = 75℃） and the corresponding liquid fraction were derived.

Order Selection and Capacity Planning in MCS with Chain-to-Chain Collaboration

Due to rejecting order in a single supply chain for lack of adequate capacity, a multi-chain system is introduced to avoid this potential operational risk. Based on four categories of order： direct order, reserve order, chain-to-chain order and rejected order, the framework of order selection in multi-chain system（MCS） is presented, and the model of order selection and planning under chain-to-chain collaboration is formulated. Then, the Lagrange algorithm is used to solve this problem through Lagrange relaxation and decomposition. Finally, numerical study show that opportunity cost of rejecting reserve order and production cost of chain-to-chain order have significant impacts on order selection, and there exists a critical threshold value of the combination of two factors. Through the combination, the multi-chain system can obtain the optimal status, meanwhile manager can utilize this to realize different strategies in MCS.
