Perception of caring behavior and associated factors among nurses and midwives working in public hospitals in Southern Ethiopia

Objective:This study aimed to assess the perception of caring behaviors and associated factors among nurses and midwives who provided maternal health care services at Sidama region public hospitals,Hawassa,***:An institutional-based cross-sectional study design was used on a sample of 269 nurses and midwives working in maternity wards in Sidama region public hospitals.A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect *** and multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to identify factors associated with nurses’and midwives’perceptions of caring ***:Totally 261 nurses and midwives participated the *** on the mean score,participants’perception of caring behavior was classified as higher and *** to this study,75.1%(196/261)of nurses and midwives demonstrated a higher perception of caring ***’age,professional satisfaction,personal satisfaction,midwife/nurse-doctor relationship and workload were significantly associated with their perception of caring ***:Assessing the nurses’and midwives’perception of caring behavior and related factors is crucial for providing high-quality nursing and midwifery *** is suggested to create a positive and conducive caring behavior in the organization by reducing excessive workload of nurses and midwives,as well as enhancing nurse/midwife-doctor relationship,and increasing their job satisfaction by providing recognition and reward will improve nurses’and midwives’caring behavior.

Determinants of neonatal jaundice in Ethiopia:a systematic review and meta-analysis

Background Neonatal jaundice is a common condition characterized by a yellowish discoloration of the skin,conjunctiva,and sclera caused by elevated serum or plasma bilirubin levels during the newborn *** condition is usually not dangerous,but it can progress to severe hyperbilirubinemia,which can lead to acute bilirubin encephalopathy and kernicterus,a bilirubin-induced neurological ***,this study aimed to assess the pooled prevalence of neonatal jaundice and its determinants in *** Scopus,PubMed,Google Scholar,Embase,and CINAHL databases were searched for studies published between January 1,2010 and July 30,2021.A weighted DerSimonian Laird random-effects model was used to estimate the pooled prevalence of neonatal jaundice and its associated *** I2 was used to calculate the degree of *** funnel plot and Egger's regression test were used to assess publication *** Totally 697 articles were generated from various databases,and the review included a total of eight *** pooled prevalence of neonatal jaundice was 30.96%[95%confidence interval(CI)16.61%–45.31%)]in *** review showed that prolonged labor[adjusted odd ratio(AOR)=3.39;95%CI 2.41–4.77),low birth weight(AOR=5.12;95%CI 3.11–8.72),birth asphyxia(AOR=3.75;95%CI 2.11–6.66),cephalohematoma(AOR=7.07;95%CI 2.72–18.38),ABO incompatibility(AOR=6.05;95%CI 2.95–12.42),Rhesus(RH)incompatibility(AOR=3.77;95%CI 2.04–6.96),male sex(AOR=4.53;95%CI 3.39–6.07),and neonatal sepsis(AOR=2.47;95%CI 1.49–4.08)were identified as a determining factor for neonatal jaundice in *** In low-and middle-income countries,neonatal jaundice is a significant healthcare burden,accounting for a significant portion of global childhood mortality and ***,some low-cost,effective,practical,and dependable solutions have been *** labor,ABO incompatibility,RH incompatibility,birth asphyxia,neonatal sepsis,low birth weight,ceph

Pelvic floor muscle training as a persistent nursing intervention: Effect on delivery outcome and pelvic floor myodynamia

Purpose:To evaluate the effect of pelvic floor muscle training as a nursing intervention on delivery outcomes and postpartum pelvic floor ***:In total,106 nulliparas were randomised into an intervention group and control *** nulliparas participated in a pelvic floor training programme led by a midwife.A pelvic floor physical therapist measured the women’s pelvic floor myodynamia and taught them how to correctly perform pelvic muscle contractions before the intervention.A registered nurse monitored the intervention group via twice-weekly telephone *** control group did not receive individual ***:There were no differences in the rate of Caesarean section or elective Caesarean section between the two groups(χ^(2)=3.446,p=0.076 and χ^(2)=2.343,p=0.185,respectively).There was a difference in the timing of the second stage of labour between the two groups(t=2.101,p=0.040);no difference was observed in the timing of the other two stages of labour(t=1.771,p=0.081 and t=1.142,p=0.263,respectively).In addition,no differences were observed in the gestational weight gain(t=0.196,p=0.845),neonatal weight(t=0.113,p=0.911),rate of episiotomy(χ^(2)=0.932,p=0.351)or rate of perineal laceration(χ^(2)=0.022,p=0.982)between the two *** pelvic floor myodynamia of the intervention group had improved to a greater degree than that in the control group at 6 weeks and 3 months after delivery(pnursing intervention for pregnant/postpartum women helped to shorten the second stage of labour and contributed to the recovery of postpartum pelvic floor *** influence of this intervention on the delivery mode,and rates of episiotomy and perineal laceration remains *** staff should strengthen health education programmes that involve pelvic floor functional rehabilitation.

Predictors of readiness for discharge in mothers of preterm infants: The role of stress, self-efficacy and perceived social support

Objective To understand the perceptions of pregnant Jordanian women who received antenatal care via mobile clinic,and to contribute new insights into the experiences of these mothers and how they evaluated the services that were *** Ten Jordanian mothers who had received antenatal care at a mobile clinic discussed their experiences in semi-structured,audiotaped interviews in a study that adopted a qualitative research *** analysis was done using interpretative phenomenological *** Three main themes were identified:Being informed about the medical campaign or missing the opportunity of being informed;The experience of receiving antenatal care was wonderful,although there was only one thing lacking;and they safeguard our life and take any opportunity to educate *** Data indicate that the mothers were largely satisfied with most facets of the antenatal care services they had received at the mobile ***,while services are generally well received,there are clear opportunities for ameliorating the quality of services *** mothers living in remote,deprived areas,outreach is not just an‘optional extra’but rather an essential service.

Objective:To examine the factors associated with the use of institutional delivery and home birth services among women in ***:Fifteen peer-reviewed,primary research articles published between 2011 and 2015 were selected for this scoping *** articles included case-control,cross-sectional,and retro-spective follow-up studies conducted in ***:Findings were categorized with use of content and factorial *** data in this scoping review revealed a significant inequality in skilled care use among Ethiopian women with differences in economic status,education,residence,autonomy in decision making,parity,and antenatal care ***:Sociodemographic,accessibility,and obstetric factors are key determinants of skilled care *** and policy changes to address maternal health service use should aim to improve economic status,facilitate higher education,increase access to care,promote the empowerment of women,and enhance antenatal care *** research should be conducted to evaluate the influence of the media and culture on skilled care utilization,since few studies have examined these factors.
