Impact of designed infection control educational program on nurses’knowledge and compliance with standard precautions at maternity hospitals

Objectives:This study aimed to assess the nurses’knowledge and compliance with infection control standard precautions and evaluate the impact of the designed infection control educational program on nurses’knowledge and compliance with standard precautions at the maternity *** and Methods:A quasi‑experimental one‑group pretest‑posttest design was used on convenient sample of 60 nurses working at Obstetrics and Gynecological hospital in Cairo University Hospital,Kasr El Ainy,who received“designed infection control educational program”for 6 *** data were collected through the questionnaire comprising demographics,knowledge,and compliance with standard precautions *** nurses’knowledge and compliance score were compared before and after ***:The studied nurses had higher level of knowledge(85.3%)and compliance(92.8%)regarding infection control standard precautions after the educational program compared to before the *** results revealed statistically significant difference between before and after the program regarding nurses’knowledge score(15.5±2.9 vs.17.1±1.6,P<0.001)and compliance score(58.5±13.2 vs.74.3±5.1,P<0.001).In addition,there was insignificant relation between nurses’knowledge and compliance with standard precautions both before(r=0.952,P=0.474)and after educational program(r=0.164,P=0.223).Conclusion:The nurses’level of knowledge and compliance regarding infection control standard precautions was significantly improved after the ***,it is recommended that periodical educational programs regarding the standard precautions of infection control are essential for nurses at maternity hospital.

BACKGROUND Intussusception occurs in children and progresses *** not treated in time,it may lead to secondary complications such as intestinal perforation,which affect the quality of life and health of *** is the most common clinical treatment and has a good ***,the postoperative prognosis of children with intussusception has a correlation with the postoperative rehabilitation ***,in this study,we explored the relationship between postopera-tive rehabilitation,gastrointestinal function,and the expression of inflammatory factors in children with *** medical records of 18 children who were admitted to our hospital for intussusception surgery between October 2022 and May 2024 were retrospectively *** patients were divided into the routine nursing group(n=6)and rehabilitation training group(n=12)according to the postoperative rehabilitation *** general data,gastrointestinal function,and inflammatory factor levels of the two groups were statistically *** correlation analysis of gastrointestinal function,inflammatory factors,and postoperative rehabil-itation was *** We found no significant intergroup differences in sex,age,or disease course(P>0.05).The times to first defecation,bowel sound recovery,and anal exhaust were shorter and inflammatory factor levels were lower in the rehabilitation training group than in the routine nursing group(P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that gastrin and motilin levels were positively correlated with postoperative rehabilitation(P<0.05).Interleukin(IL)-2,IL-4,IL-6,IL-10,high-sensitivity C-reactive protein,and tumor necrosis factor-αlevels were negatively correlated with postoperative rehabilitation(P<0.05).Gastrointestinal function was positively correlated(P<0.05),and levels of inflammatory factors were negatively correlated with postoperative recovery time(P<0.05).CONCLUSION We found a positive correlation between gastrointe

A causal model of job stress among Thai nurse-midwives

Objective: To test a causal model of job stress among nurse-midwives working in labor and delivery units in ***: Random and convenience sampling was used to recruit 282 nurse-midwives with at least 6 months of work experience from 16 regional ter tiary hospitals in Thailand. Data were collected from May to December 2020. Research instruments with good internal consistency reliability ranged from 0.83 to 0.91 including the Job Stress Scale and the Thai version of the Job Content Questionnaire(TJCQ). Descriptive statistics and a structural equation model were used for data ***: Job demands were the strongest predictor of job stress. At the theoretical level, high job control plays a crucial role in directly reducing job stress. However, the present research provides contrary evidence to the theoretical predictions. When nurse-midwives perceive high job control, they perceive pressure to meet the expectations of their supervisors and colleagues. Therefore, high job control can contribute to job stress. Likewise, job suppor t had an indirect effect on job stress among nurse-midwives through job control. The modified model fitted the empirical data(χ^(2) = 57.76, df = 22, CMIN/df = 2.62, goodness of fit(GFI) =0.96, adjusted goodness of fit(AGFI) =0.91, comparative fit index(CFI) = 0.95, and root mean square error of approximation(RMSEA) = 0.07). The effects of job demands, job control, and job suppor t on job stress among Thai nurse-midwives can explain 67% of the model’s total variance for job ***: Nurse-midwives who encounter high job demands and less control over their work control suffer from job stress. Job support does not directly affect nurse-midwives’ job stress but influences it through perceived job control. Strategies to decrease job stress among Thai nurse-midwives should focus on how to balance job demands, and enhance job control, and job suppor t.
