Both theoretical and observational studies reveal that the stratospheric volcanic aerosols have important impact on global climate change. The volcanic aerosols can also exert some influences on remote se(?)sing of the atmosphere-earth system . So it is necessary to monitor the aerosol variation in the stratosphere due to the volcanic eruption.

We have presented a high resolution spectroscopy of Rb in magnetic field by far-detuning electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT).The EIT spectrum in theΞ-type configuration is usually companied by a double resonance optical pumping(DROP)due to the strong optical coupling between the two upper states,leading to the spectral lines seriously deformed and widely broadened for complex relaxation processes in *** we demonstrate a high resolution spectroscopy by far-detuning EIT for^(87)Rb 5S_(1/2)→5P_(3/2)→5D_(5/2)in magnetic *** method of far-detuning eliminates the relaxation in DROP to the most extent and decreases the spectral linewidth from more than 20 MHz down to its natural linewidth limit(6 MHz).The deformation of the spectral lines also disappears and the observed spectra are well in accordance with the theoretical *** work shows that far-detuning EIT is a reliable high resolution spectroscopic method when the relaxation in DROP cannot be neglected,especially for the case of transition to low excited states.

The work deficit, as introduced by Jonathan Oppenheim et al. [Phys. Rev. Left. 89 （2002） 180402] is a good measure of the quantum correlations in a state and provides a new standpoint for understanding quantum non-locality. In this paper, we analytically evaluate the one-way information deficit （OWID） for the Bell-diagonai states and a class of two-qubit states and further give the geometry picture for OWID. The dynamic behavior of the OWID under decoherence channel is investigated and it is shown that the OWID of some classes of X states is more robust against the decoherence than the entanglement.

The Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen(EPR)paradox is one of the milestones in quantum foundations,arising from the lack of a local realistic description of quantum *** EPR paradox has stimulated an important concept of“quantum nonlocality,”which manifests itself in three types:quantum entanglement,quantum steering,and Bell’s *** Bell’s nonlocality is more often used to show“quantum nonlocality,”the original EPR paradox is essentially a steering *** this work,we formulate the original EPR steering paradox into a contradiction equality,thus making it amenable to experimental *** perform an experimental test of the steering paradox in a two-qubit ***,by starting from the steering paradox,we generate a generalized linear steering inequality and transform this inequality into a mathematically equivalent form,which is friendlier for experimental implementation,i.e.,one may measure the observables only in the x,y,or z axis of the Bloch sphere,rather than other arbitrary *** also perform experiments to demonstrate this *** the experimental errors,the experimental results coincide with theoretical *** results deepen the understanding of quantum foundations and provide an efficient way to detect the steerability of quantum states.

The total charge-changing cross sections and partial cross sections for the production of projectile fragments are measured in the interactions of 400 A MeV 20 Ne with aluminum,carbon and polyethylene targets sandwiched with CR-39 plastic nuclear track *** measured total charge-changing cross sections are compared with the predictions using the Bradt-Peters semi-empirical formula,and the NUCFRAG2 and PHITS *** is shown that the measured experimental results are in good agreement with the theoretical model prediction and other experimental results,and it can be clearly seen that the partial cross sections for fragment production show obvious odd-even effects.

Adjoint-free calculation method is proposed to compute conditional nonlinear optimal perturbations(CNOP) combined with initial perturbations and model parameter perturbations. The new approach avoids the use of adjoint technique in the optimization process. CNOPs respectively generated by ensemble-based and adjoint-based methods are compared based on a simple theoretical model.

We propose and discuss terahertz(THz) electro-optic modulator induced by periodically patterned graphene microcavity. Due to the joint effect of graphene plasmon resonances and Fabry-Perot(F-P) oscillations, plasmon-induced transparency(PIT) effect is achieved and the operation frequency can be dynamically tuned by graphene Fermi energies and structural parameters. The results reveal that modulation depth(MD) larger than 80% is obtained across a wide frequency range from 4.2 THz to 9.4 THz, and the largest MD and Q factor reaches 95% and 15.8, respectively. In addition, operation frequency range and MD can also be tuned by optimizing the structure parameters. This investigation promises the development of high-performance widely tunable THz modulator in chip integrated photonic circuits.

A comparative analysis is performed on the structural damage response and associated mechanisms in lanthanum aluminate and yttrium aluminate crystals under various irradiation conditions by a combination of experimental and theoretical *** low-energy Au~+irradiation,the damage accumulation curve shows a higher damage rate for LaAlO_(3)crystals than YAlO_(3)*** relatively low irradiation tolerance of LaAlO_(3)to the action of nuclear collisions is ascribed to the large amorphization cross-section and effective cross-section for defect-stimulated *** swift Ar^(12+),Ni^(19+)and Kr^(17+)irradiation with different ion energies and velocities,the formed highly-disordered/amorphous latent tracks with different morphologies in pristine and predamaged crystals are discussed,and the corresponding electronic energy loss and lattice temperature thresholds are quantitatively *** to YAlO_(3),LaAlO_(3)exhibits lower sensitivity and higher damage tolerance to the electronic energy loss process,attributing to its relatively high recrystallization efficiency during the rapid quenching ***,the introduction of lattice defects into LaAlO_(3)and YAlO_(3)crystals considerably enhances the sensitivity and intensity of thermal spike response to the electronic energy loss,and the induced effective modification of track morphologies demonstrates the synergistic effect between the electronic energy loss and pre-existing defects created by nuclear *** this case,even under the action of electronic energy loss below the threshold,the lattice temperature in the nuclear-collision damaged crystalline system could still meet the criterion for track *** irradiation energy deposited to atoms and induced lattice temperature evolution discussed in this work provide a deeper insight into the complex processes involved in irradiation-induced latent track behaviors.

The structure aperiodicities can influence seriously the features of motion of soliton excited in the α-helix protein molecules with three channels. We study the influence of structure aperiodicities on the features of the soliton in the improved model by numerical simulation and Runge-Kulta method. The results obtained show that the new soliton is very robust against the structure aperiodieities including large disorder in the sequence of mass of the amino acids and fluctuations of spring constant, coupling constant, dipole-dipole interactional constant, ground state energy and chain-chain interaction. However, very strong structure aperiodieities can also destroy the stability of the soliton in the α-helix protein molecules.
