Erosion corrosion performance of 6061 aluminum alloy in simulated sea water slurry was investigated under multi-phase jet impingement conditions. The main objective of the work is to study erosion–corrosion of a material with engineering application and mitigate it using eco-friendly green inhibitor. Experiments were performed with the sand concentration of 0.3% and 0.3 μm size. The effect of temperature and flow rate on the performance of inhibitor was explored. Electrochemical methods were adopted for erosion-corrosion measurements. Experiments revealed that starch could mitigate erosion-corrosion with a maximum reduction efficiency of 58% at temperature of 303 K and flow rate of 4 L·min–1. Inhibition efficiency decreased with increase in flowrate and temperature. EIS spectrum demonstrated that the corrosion process in the presence on inhibitor was both charge transfer and mass transfer controlled. A key role of hydrodynamics in the performance of corrosion inhibitor was confirmed by the present study.

Annona muricata fruit extract protects against diethylnitrosamine-induced hepatocellular cancer in rats

Objective: To evaluate the anticancer potentials of Annona muricata fruit by in vitro and in vivo methods. Methods: The ethanolic extract of Annona muricata fruit was prepared by Soxhlet extraction method and further fractionated with petroleum ether, ethyl acetate and chloroform. The fractions were tested for cytotoxicity, apoptosis, scratch wound assay, and cell cycle analysis. IC50, apoptotic index and percentage cell migration were determined using HepG2 cells. For the in vivo studies, hepatocellular carcinoma was induced by administering 0.01% diethylnitrosamine(DEN) in drinking water in Wistar rats. In pre-treatment, rats were co-administered 200 mg/kg of fruit extract with DEN for 14 weeks. In post-treatment, the extract was co-administered after 8-weeks of DEN-induction for 14 weeks. Liver function test, haematological test, oxidative stress markers, relative liver weight, number of cancer nodules and histopathological parameters were ***: Annona muricata fruit extract =significantly lowered cell proliferation counts. The chloroform-fraction possessed higher activity (IC50=(53.7±4.3) μg/mL)The chloroform fraction inhibited cell migration, which was significant compared to curcumin. Further investigations regarding the mode of anticancer activity revealed that the chloroform fraction induced apoptosis. The cell cycle analysis indicated that cells were being arrested at G0/G1. In the in vivo studies, the DEN-control group showed a significant decrease in body weights with increased mortality rate, hepatic nodules, and impairment of liver function compared to normal rats. The rats pre-treated and post-treated with the extract showed positive results with significant improvement in the parameters that were adversely affected by DEN. The study in this manuscript aims to analyse the impact of thermal radiation on the two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic flow of upper convected Maxwell(UCM)fluid between parallel *** lower plate is porous and stationary,while the top plate is impermeable and *** equations that describe the flow are transformed into non-linear ordinary differential equations with boundary conditions by employing similarity *** Homotopy Perturbation Method(HPM)is then employed to approach the obtained non-linear ordinary differential equations and get an approximate analytical *** analysis includes plotting the velocity profile for different Reynolds number values and temperature distribution curves for distinct physical parameters such as Reynolds number,Deborah number,magnetic parameter,porosity parameter,radiation parameter,and Prandtl *** the case of injection,the temporal profile declines with an increase in radiation parameter as the plates move away from each other,and an opposite trend is observed as plates move towards each ***,the skin friction coefficient and heat transfer rate are analysed for the impact of these parameters using *** numerical values obtained using HPM are compared using the classical finite difference *** results show good agreement between the semi-analytical and numerical solutions.

Current system focuses on design&construction of a multistage reciprocating evaporative cooling test *** packings that are used will undergo the reciprocating action,powered by the cam follower mechanism maintained at an actual rotation *** dry bulb temperature&humidity values are varied to replicate the varying climatic conditions,and the output parameters such as cooling load,evaporation rate(ER),humidification efficiency(HE),coefficient of performance(COP)are *** results showed that as inlet humidity raises,the performance of system *** the rise in the camshaft speed or packing velocity,there is an upsurge in the performance until a cam speed of 10 r/min or packing velocity of 0.083 m/s and with further increases in the value,overall performance *** system gave a maximum COP,ER,and HE equal to 3.80,73.87%,and 0.53 g/kg respectively.A rise in the inlet air temperature yielded a maximum change in dry bulb temperature of 8.2℃.Overall,results indicated that evaporative cooling is more effective in arid climates than the cold and humid *** quality test is performed to measure CO_(2),Total Volatile Organic Compound(TVOC),and Formaldehyde(HCHO),and it is found that humidified air entering the defined space is of excellent quality.
