Spatiotemporal variation of cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms in China based on literature and media information

Cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms(CyanoHABs)in inland waters are now among the most pressing environmental issues worldwide,especially in *** remote sensing has limitations in monitoring CyanoHABs in small water bodies due to spatial and temporal resolution *** literature and news media have the potential to supplement satellite remote sensing in monitoring CyanoHABs,they have currently not received sufficient *** this study,we combined information on the distributions of CyanoHABs from literature and media for the first time to comprehensively assess the spatiotemporal variation in CyanoHABs in *** collected,cleaned,validated,and organized data from literature and media on CyanoHABs in China,resulting in the establishment of a comprehensive database on CyanoHABs in China's inland waters(ChinaCyanoDB)covering 198 water bodies,525 records for *** majority of water bodies with CyanoHABs(CyanoWaters)are located in the eastern China,mainly concentrated in the middle and lower Yangtze region,with a clear upward trend in their number over the last four *** ChinaCyanoDB and analytical results can provide valuable data support for monitoring and managing CyanoHABs in China while the database construction method may also be applied to other countries and regions.

Data about Natural History of Some Acute Coronary Events at Days of High Cosmic Ray (CRA)-Neutron Activity and Following 48 Hours (2000-2012)

In recent years, many studies were published describing a wide scope of changes related to extreme (stormy) geomagnetic activity. In some countries, prediction of such days is a part of weather prediction information. A number of risk factors like blood coagulation parameters, arterial blood pressure, inflammation markers, and some blood proteins were changing at days of GMA storms. Concomitant studies were published on an inverse phenomenon-increased cardiovascular event at days of Zero GMA, accompanied by high Space Neutron activity on the Earth’s surface—a marker of high Cosmic Ray activity. The aim of this study was to compare two groups of Acute Cardiovascular Events (ACE)—Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) and deaths from Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD) at days of extreme Cosmic Ray (CRA)-Neutron activity. Patients & methods: 4749 days at years 2000-2012 were studied considering ACE in a 3000 bed hospital in Kaunas, Lithuania. Cosmophysical data of this period was obtained from USA, Russia, and Finland. ACE was calculated at day of extreme High levels of CRA and following 48 hours. 13629 AMI and 3128 deaths from IHD were included. Results: It was a significant rise in AMI morbidity at day of high CRA (Neutron) activity (≥9300 imp/min). By analysis for each of gender, and patients age groups that were significant difference of AMI for all patients and male >65 y. old at Neutron activity ≥9400 imp/min (p = 0.048;p = 0.03), both gender > 65 y. old at Neutron activity >9500 (p = 0.078) and female >65 y. at Lag 2 (p = 0.07). For deaths from IHD, it was a significant rise at Neutron activity below 9300 imp/min (662 days (13.8%) were above the average of the full observation time-8935 ± 538.083)). Conclusion: At days of high CRA-Neutron activity, it was significantly more AMI. For IHD mortality was higher, but at lower Neutron activity—closer to average Neutron activity and higher GMA.

Database system is the infrastructure of the modern information system. The R＆D in the database system and its technologies is one of the important research topics in the field. The database R＆D in China took off later but it moves along by giant steps. This report presents the achievements Renmin University of China （RUC） has made in the past 25 years and at the same time addresses some of the research projects we, RUC, are currently working on. The National Natural Science Foundation of China supports and initiates most of our research projects and these successfully conducted projects have produced fruitful results.

Interleukin-34(IL-34)is a novel cytokine that plays an important role in innate immunity and inflammatory processes by binding to the colonystimulating factor-1 receptor(CSF-1R).However,information on the function of IL-34 in fish remains *** the present study,we identified an IL-34 homolog from mudskippers(Boleophthalmus pectinirostris).In silico analysis showed that the mudskipper IL-34(BpIL-34)was similar to other known IL-34 variants in sequence and structure and was most closely related to an orange-spotted grouper(Epinephelus coioides)***-34 transcripts were constitutively expressed in various tissues,with the highest level of expression found in the *** tarda infection significantly up-regulated the mRNA expression of BpIL-34 in the mudskipper *** recombinant mature BpIL-34 peptide(rBpIL-34)was purified and used to produce anti-rBpIL-34 *** blot analysis combined with PNGase F digestion revealed that native BpIL-34 in monocytes/macrophages(MOs/MФs)was *** vitro,rBpIL-34 treatment enhanced the phagocytotic and bactericidal activity of mudskipper MOs/MФs,as well as the mRNA expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines like tumor necrosis factorα(BpTNF-α)and BpIL-1βin these ***,the knockdown of mudskipper CSF-1R1(BpCSF-1R1),but not mudskipper BpCSF-1R2,significantly inhibited the rBpIL-34-mediated enhanced effect on MO/MФ*** conclusion,our results indicate that mudskipper BpIL-34 modulates the functions of MOs/MФs via BpCSF-1R1.

Rainfall plays a significant role in managing the water level in the *** unpredictable amount of rainfall due to the climate change can cause either overflow or dry in the *** individuals,especially those in the agricultural sector,rely on rain *** rainfall is challenging because of the changing nature of the *** area of Jimma in southwest Oromia,Ethiopia is the subject of this research,which aims to develop a rainfall forecasting *** estimate Jimma's daily rainfall,we propose a novel approach based on optimizing the parameters of long short-term memory(LSTM)using Al-Biruni earth radius(BER)optimization algorithm for boosting the fore-casting accuracy.N ash-Sutcliffe model eficiency(NSE),mean square error(MSE),root MSE(RMSE),mean absolute error(MAE),and R2 were all used in the conducted experiments to assess the proposed approach,with final scores of(0.61),(430.81),(19.12),and(11.09),***,we compared the proposed model to current machine-learning regression models;such as non-optimized LSTM,bidirectional LSTM(BiLSTM),gated recurrent unit(GRU),and convolutional LSTM(ConvLSTM).It was found that the proposed approach achieved the lowest RMSE of(19.12).In addition,the experimental results show that the proposed model has R-with a value outperforming the other models,which confirms the superiority of the proposed *** the other hand,a statistical analysis is performed to measure the significance and stability of the proposed approach and the recorded results proved the expected perfomance.

A PRIORITY-BASED POLLING SCHEDULING ALGORITHM FOR ARBITRATION POLICY IN NETWORK ON CHIP

A solution is imperatively expected to meet the efficient contention resolution schemes for managing simultaneous access requests to the communication resources on the Network on Chip (NoC). Based on the ideas of conflict-free transmission, priority-based service, and dynamic self-adaptation to loading, this paper presents a novel scheduling algorithm for Medium Access Control (MAC) in NoC with the researches of the communication structure features of 2D mesh. The algorithm gives priority to guarantee the Quality of Service (QoS) for local input port as well as dynamic adjustment of the performance of the other ports along with input load change. The theoretical model of this algorithm is established with Markov chain and probability generating function. Mathematical analysis is made on the mean queue length and the mean inquiry cyclic time of the system. Simulated experiments are conducted to test the accuracy of the model. It turns out that the findings from theoretical analysis correspond well with those from simulated experiments. Further more, the analytical findings of the system performance demonstrate that the algorithm enables effectively strengthen the fairness and stability of data transmissions in NoC.

Recently,β-Ga_(2)O_(3),an ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor,has shown great potential to be used in power devices blessed with its unique material *** instance,the measured average critical field of the vertical Schottky barrier diode(SBD)based onβ-Ga_(2)O_(3) has reached 5.45 MV/cm,and no device in any material has measured a greater ***,the high electric field of theβ-Ga_(2)O_(3) SBD makes it challenging to manage the electric field distribution and leakage ***,we showβ-Ga_(2)O_(3) junction barrier Schottky diode with NiO p-well floating field rings(FFRs).For the central anode,we filled a circular trench array with NiO to reduce the surface field under the Schottky contact between them to reduce the leakage current of the *** the anode edge,experimental results have demonstrated that the produced NiO/β-Ga_(2)O_(3) heterojunction FFRs enable the spreading of the depletion region,thereby mitigating the crowding effect of electric fields at the anode ***,simulation results indicated that the p-NiO field plate structure designed at the edges of the rings and central anode can further reduce the electric *** work verified the feasibility of the heterojunction FFRs inβ-Ga_(2)O_(3) devices based on the experimental findings and provided ideas for managing the electric field ofβ-Ga_(2)O_(3) SBD.

An Accurate and Impartial Expert Assignment Method for Scientific Project Review

Purpose： This paper proposes an expert assignment method for scientific project review that considers both accuracy and impartiality. As impartial and accurate peer review is extremely important to ensure the quality and feasibility of scientific projects, enhanced methods for managing the process are needed. Design/methodology/approach： To ensure both accuracy and impartiality, we design four criteria, the reviewers＇fitness degree, research intensity, academic association, and potential conflict of interest, to express the characteristics of an appropriate peer review expert. We first formalize the expert assignment problem as an optimization problem based on the designed criteria, and then propose a randomized algorithm to solve the expert assignment problem of identifying reviewer adequacy. Findings： Simulation results show that the proposed method is quite accurate and impartial during expert assignment. Research limitations： Although the criteria used in this paper can properly show the characteristics of a good and appropriate peer review expert, more criteria/conditions can be included in the proposed scheme to further enhance accuracy and impartiality of the expert assignment. Practical implications： The proposed method can help project funding agencies （e.g. the National Natural Science Foundation of China） find better experts for project peer review. OriginaUty/value： To the authors＇ knowledge, this is the first publication that proposes an algorithm that applies an impartial approach to the project review expert assignment process. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A Novel Deep Learning Method for Application Identification in Wireless Network

In modern wireless communication network, the increased consumer demands for multi-type applications and high quality services have become a prominent trend, and put considerable pressure on the wireless network. In that case, the Quality of Experience(Qo E) has received much attention and has become a key performance measurement for the application and service. In order to meet the users' expectations, the management of the resource is crucial in wireless network, especially the Qo E based resource allocation. One of the effective way for resource allocation management is accurate application identification. In this paper, we propose a novel deep learning based method for application identification. We first analyse the requirement of managing Qo E for wireless communication, and review the limitation of the traditional identification methods. After that, a deep learning based method is proposed for automatically extracting the features and identifying the type of application. The proposed method is evaluated by using the practical wireless traffic data, and the experiments verify the effectiveness of our method.

Mapping of Total Carbon and Clay Contents in Glacial Till Soil Using On-the-Go Near-Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy and Partial Least Squares Regression

Characterizing spatial variability of soil attributes, using traditional soil sampling and laboratory analysis, is cost prohibitive. The potential benefit of managing soils on a site-specific basis is well established. High variations in glacial till soil render detailed soil mapping difficult with limited number of soil samples. To overcome this problem, this paper demonstrates the feasibility of soil carbon and clay mapping using the newly developed on-the-go near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS). Compared with the geostatistics method, the partial least squares regression (PLSR), with NIRS measurements, could yield a more detailed map for both soil carbon and clay. Further, by using independent validation dataset, the accuracy of predicting could be improved significantly for soil clay content and only slightly for soil carbon content. Owing to the complexity of field conditions, more work on data processing and calibration modeling might be necessary for using on-the-go NIRS measurements.
