Optimization of architecture design has recently drawn research interest. system deployment optimization （SDO） refers to the process of optimizing systems that are being deployed to activi- ties. This paper first formulates a mathematical model to theorize and operationalize the SDO problem and then identifies optimal so- lutions to solve the SDO problem. In the solutions, the success rate of the combat task is maximized, whereas the execution time of the task and the cost of changes in the system structure are mini- mized. The presented optimized algorithm generates an optimal solution without the need to check the entire search space. A novel method is finally proposed based on the combination of heuristic method and genetic algorithm （HGA）, as well as the combination of heuristic method and particle swarm optimization （HPSO）. Experi- ment results show that the HPSO method generates solutions faster than particle swarm optimization （PSO） and genetic algo- rithm （GA） in terms of execution time and performs more efficiently than the heuristic method in terms of determining the best solution.

In the past few decades, applications of geostationary orbit (GEO) satellites have attracted increasing attention, and with the development of optical technologies, GEO optical satellites have become popular worldwide. This paper proposes a general working pattern for a GEO optical satellite, as well as a target observation mission planning model. After analyzing the requirements of users and satellite control agencies, two objectives are simultaneously considered: maximization of total profit and minimization of satellite attitude maneuver angle. An NSGA-II based multi-objective optimization algorithm is proposed, which contains some heuristic principles in the initialization phase and mutation operator, and is embedded with a traveling salesman problem (TSP) optimization. The validity and performance of the proposed method are verified by extensive numerical simulations that include several types of point target distributions.

This paper considers a project scheduling problem with the objective of minimizing resource availability costs appealed to finish al activities before the deadline. There are finish-start type precedence relations among the activities which require some kinds of renewable resources. We predigest the process of sol-ving the resource availability cost problem （RACP） by using start time of each activity to code the schedule. Then, a novel heuris-tic algorithm is proposed to make the process of looking for the best solution efficiently. And then pseudo particle swarm optimiza-tion （PPSO） combined with PSO and path relinking procedure is presented to solve the RACP. Final y, comparative computational experiments are designed and the computational results show that the proposed method is very effective to solve RACP.

This paper introduces a novel interconnection network called KMcube （Kautz-Mobius cube）. KMcube is a compound graph of a Kautz digraph and M/Sbius cubes. That is, it uses the Mobius cubes as the unit cluster and connects many such clusters by means of a Kautz digraph at the cost of only one additional arc being added to any node in each Mobius cubes. The topological benefits of both basic graphs are preserved in the compound network. It utilizes the topo- logical properties of Mobius cubes to conveniently embed parallel algorithms into each cluster and the short diameter of a Kautz digraph to support efficient inter-cluster communi- cation. Additionally, KMcube provides other attractive prop- erties, such as the regularity, symmetry, and expandability. The proposed methodology for KMcube is further applied to the compound graphs of Kautz digraph and other Mobius-like graphs with the similar diameter to a Mobius cube. Moreover, other hybrid graphs of Kautz digraph and Mobius cubes are proposed and compared.

Earth observation satellite system （EOSS） is the main space platform to collect ground information. Op- timization of EOSS is still a difficult problem, as it is a complex system concerning a great deal of design variables and uncertain factors. To solve the problem, an optimization framework based on parallel system and computational experi- ments is proposed. An artificial system for EOSS is firstly constructed, which is the integration of resource data, task data, environment data and related operation rules. Real EOSS together with artificial EOSS constitute the parallel systems for EOSS. Based on the parallel systems, concept of computational experiments is detailed. Moreover, surrogate models are built to approximate real EOSS. Genetic algorithm and improved general pattern search method are adopted to optimize the model. According to the framework, a case study is carried out. Through the results, we illustrated the proposed framework to be useful and effective for EOSS optimization problem.

A genetic algorithm for community detection in complex networks

A new genetic algorithm for community detection in complex networks was proposed. It adopts matrix encoding that enables traditional crossover between individuals. Initial populations are generated using nodes similarity, which enhances the diversity of initial individuals while retaining an acceptable level of accuracy, and improves the efficiency of optimal solution search. Individual crossover is based on the quality of individuals' genes; all nodes unassigned to any community are grouped into a new community, while ambiguously placed nodes are assigned to the community to which most of their neighbors belong. Individual mutation, which splits a gene into two new genes or randomly fuses it into other genes, is non-uniform. The simplicity and effectiveness of the algorithm are revealed in experimental tests using artificial random networks and real networks. The accuracy of the algorithm is superior to that of some classic algorithms, and is comparable to that of some recent high-precision algorithms.

Handling epistemic uncertainties in PRA using evidential networks

In order to overcome the limitations of traditional methods in uncertainty analysis, a modified Bayesian network(BN), which is called evidence network(EN), was proposed with evidence theory to handle epistemic uncertainty in probabilistic risk assessment(PRA). Fault trees(FTs) and event trees(ETs) were transformed into an EN which is used as a uniform framework to represent accident scenarios. Epistemic uncertainties of basic events in PRA were presented in evidence theory form and propagated through the network. A case study of a highway tunnel risk analysis was discussed to demonstrate the proposed approach. Frequencies of end states are obtained and expressed by belief and plausibility measures. The proposed approach addresses the uncertainties in experts' knowledge and can be easily applied to uncertainty analysis of FTs/ETs that have dependent events.

Study on semantic-oriented hybrid indexing strategy of resource metadata in peer-to-peer network

Applying ontology to describe resource metadata richly in the peer-to-peer environment has become current research trend. In this semantic peer-to-peer environment, indexing semantic element of resource description to support efficient resource location is a difficult and challenging problem. This paper provided a hybrid indexing architecture, which combines local indexing and global indexing. It uses community strategy and semantic routing strategy to organize key layer metadata element and uses DHT (distributed hash table) to index extensional layer metadata element. Compared with related system, this approach is more efficient in resource location and more scalable.
