The content of endogenons vasopressin (AVP1-9) and its metabolites in rat's various brain areas and pituitary gland was investigated by the combination techniques of high pressure liquid chromatography （HPLC） and radioimmunoassay （RIA）. In addition to the AVP1-9, several compounds with C-terminal AVP immunoreactivity were detected in hypothalamus, hippceampus, amygdala, medulla oblongata and septum. The C-terminal AVP1-9metabolites were virtually absent in the pituitary gland. In view of the highly potent and selective effects oa memory processes of AVP metabolites, some endogenous AVP metabolites in the brain may play an important role in the central nervous system （CNS） function.

The raccoon dog Nyctereutes procyonoides experienced an active introduction and acclimatization in the European part of Russia followed by its migration to and colonization in the neighboring countries. Eventually, it has spread rapidly into many European countries. N. procyonoides probably invaded Lithuania from the neighboring countries of Belarus and Latvia where the species was introduced. However, the data on genetic diversity and population structure of the raccoon dogs in the recently invaded territories are still scarce. The objectives of this study were to investigate genetic diversity of N. procyonoides in Lithuania after acclimatization, and to assess the impact of anthropogenic pressure on the formation of population structure. A total of 147 N. procyonoides individuals collected from different regions of Lithuania were genotyped using 17 microsatellite markers. The microsatellite analysis of raccoon dogs indicated high levels of genetic diversity within the population. The Bayesian clustering analysis in STRUCTURE identified 4 genetic clusters among sampled raccoon dogs that could not reveal a clear separation between subpopulations. The widespread distribution of raccoon dogs in Lithuania, high level of genetic variation observed within subpopulations, and low level of variation portioned among subpopulations suggest migration and gene flow among locations. The significant correlation between genetic and geographic distances indicated isolation that reflected the distance between locations. The fencing of highways and very intensive traffic could be barriers to gene flow between the western and eastern sampling areas of raccoon dogs.

The development of spatial decision support for environmental resource management,*** and agroecosystem management,biodiversity conservation,or hydrological planning,started in the 1980s and was the focus of many research groups in the *** combined availability of spatial data and communication,computing,positioning,geographic information system(GIS)-and remote sensing(RS)-technologies has been responsible for the implementation of complex SDSS since the late *** regional GIS-based modelling of environmental resources,and therefore ecosystems in general,requires setting-up an extensive geo and model *** data on topography,soil,climate,land use,hydrology,flora,fauna and anthropogenic activities have to be ***,GIS-and RS-technologies are of central importance for spatial data handling and *** this context,the structure of spatial environmental information systems(SEIS)is *** SEIS,the input data for environmental resource management are organised in at least seven subinformation systems:base geodata information system(BGDIS),climate information system(CIS),soil information system(SIS),land use information system(LUIS),hydrological information system(HIS),spatial/temporal biodiversity information system(STBIS),forest/agricultural management information system(FAMIS).The major tasks of a SEIS are to(i)provide environmental resource information on a regional level,(ii)analyse the impact of anthropogenic activities and(iii)simulate scenarios of different impacts.

The description of a microbiological community of drinking water distribution systems is intended for a safe and proper use of drinking water. These studies were aimed at characterising the microbial condition of the drinking water supply system in Lithuania by means of culture-based methods and biochemical techniques. Samples of drinking water (in cities supplied in centralised way from taps, wells, and boreholes) were collected in different locations in Lithuania. Seeking to grow microflora present in water the membrane filtration method was applied to study the samples. Most often water samples were studied to identify coliform bacteria (Citrobacter spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Serratia spp.), Escherichia coli (or faecal coliform), Enterococci (or fecal Streptococcus), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (other non-fermentative gram-negative bacteria) according to the international ISO standards. Large amounts of non-fermenting gram-negative bacteria were found in centralised urban water. The investigation showed that more than 50% of the wells under study had increased microbial contamination with faecal coliform bacteria and faecal Streptococcus. Bacteria of the Pseudomonas group, CDC group and other non-fermentative gram-negative bacteria were detected in more than 30% samples of centralised urban water studied.

The Galilei invariant model of the nucleon as a system of three point particles, whose dynamics is governed by Schr?dinger equation, after six Hamiltonian parameters fitting, predicts magnetic momenta, masses and charge radii of the proton and neutron with experimental precision. Now this model is applied in order to investigate nucleon charge, mass and magnetism distributions. The obtained electric and magnetic form factors at low values of momentum transfer are in satisfactory agreement with experimental information. The model predicts that neutron is a more compact system than proton.

The free relativistic particle, by definition, has to move in an inertial reference frame with uniform velocity less than the speed of light. The corresponding movement of a material quantum particle describes a wave packet, composed of matter waves—solutions of the Schr?dinger equation. The maximum of packet, corresponding to the largest probability to find the particle, has to move with the same uniform velocity, defined by the initial condition. It has been shown that the traditional definition of the quantum momentum operator i.e. taking it to correspond to the special relativity theory, relativistic momentum, cannot produce precise description of a relativistic matter particle. Different definitions are investigated and one that solves this issue is found. Obtained original expression of relativistic kinetic energy operator creates new possibilities for relativistic quantum systems theory.

The recently introduced Galilei invariant model of the nucleon as a system of three point particles, whose dynamics is governed by Schr?dinger equation, is applied for nucleon structure investigation. The obtained charge, magnetism, mass and point particles density distributions of the proton and neutron are in satisfactory agreement with known information about nucleon structure. The model predicts the third Zemach momentum of proton larger than the one obtained in dipole approximation and larger than following from electron-proton data analysis.
