Introduction: Radiotherapy is often used to treat head and neck malignancies, with inevitable effects on the surrounding healthy tissues. We have reviewed the literature concerning the experimental irradiation of facial bones in animals. Materials and Methods: A PubMed search was performed to retrieve animal experiments on the irradiation of facial bones that were published between January 1992 and January 2012. The search terms were “irradiation facial bone” and “irradiation osteoradionecrosis”. Results: Thirty-six publications were included. The irradiation sources were Cobalt60, orthovoltage, 4 - 6 megavolt photons, and brachytherapy. The total dose varied between 8 - 60 Gy in single or multiple fractions. The literature presents a broad range of animal studies that differ in terms of the in vivo model, irradiation, observation period, and evaluation of results. Discussion: The different animal models used leave many questions unanswered. A detailed and standardized description of the methodology and results would facilitate the comparability of future studies.

Cerebral small vessel disease(CSVD)is a very common neurological disease in older *** causes stroke and dementia,mood disturbance and gait *** it is difficult to visualise CSVD pathologies in vivo,the diagnosis of CSVD has relied on imaging findings including white matter hyperintensities,lacunar ischaemic stroke,lacunes,microbleeds,visible perivascular spaces and many haemorrhagic ***,variations in the use of definition and terms of these features have probably caused confusion and difficulties in interpreting results of previous studies.A standardised use of terms should be encouraged in CSVD *** CSVD features have long been regarded as different lesions,but emerging evidence has indicated that they might share some common intrinsic microvascular pathologies and therefore,owing to its diffuse nature,CSVD should be regarded as a‘whole-brain disease’.Single antiplatelet(for acute lacunar ischaemic stroke)and management of traditional risk factors still remain the most important therapeutic and preventive approach,due to limited understanding of pathophysiology in *** evidence suggests that new studies should consider drugs that target endothelium and blood–brain barrier to prevent and treat *** of CSVD might differ in Asian compared with Western populations(where most results and guidelines about CSVD and stroke originate),but more community-based data and clear stratification of stroke types are required to address this.

This paper attempts to present an interactive color natural images segmentation method. This method extracts the feature of images by using the nonlinear compact structure tensor （NCST） and then uses GrabCut method to obtain the segmentation. This method not only realizes the non-parametric fusion of texture information and color information, but also improves the efficiency of the calculation. Then, the improved GrabCut algorithm is used to evaluate the foreground target segmentation. In order to calculate the simplicity and efficiency, this paper also extends the Gaussian mixture model （GMM） constructed base on the GrabCut to the tensor space, and uses the Kullback-Leibler （KL） divergence instead of the usual Riemannian geometry. Lastly, an iteration convergence criterion is proposed to reduce the time of the iteration of GrabCut algorithm dramatically with satisfied segmentation accuracy. After conducting a large number of experiments on synthetic texture images and natural images, the results demonstrate that this method has a more accurate segmentation effect.

Patient Characteristics Associated with Non-Adherence to Tuberculosis Treatment: A Systematic Review

Background: A high level of adherence to treatment is essential for cure and prevention of tuberculosis (TB) treatment resistance. Methods: A Systematic review of 53 studies addressing the patient characteristics associated with TB medication non-adherence was performed. The publications were identified by searching the PubMed, World Health Organization (WHO), and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) database, EmBase, Scopus database Arts, Humanities, Social Science database and Google scholar. Only English language publications were eligible. Potentially eligible studies were retrieved and the full articles were assessed. The potentially eligible studies were included if they concerned patients treated for tuberculosis, reported non adherence and reported on potential risk factors associated with non-adherence. Results: Factors that were most frequently consistently and statistically significantly related to non-adherence to tuberculosis treatment were: family income, patient movement and changing address or giving wrong address, tuberculosis relapse or multidrug-resistant TB (MDRTB), during intensive phase of treatment, history of default, treatment regimen (long course), response to treatment, homeless, stigma, seeking traditional healers, staff receptiveness, lack of directly observed therapy short course (DOTS), poor knowledge or lack of health education, side effects of drugs, feeling better, alcohol intake and lack of family and social support. Conclusions: Non-adherence to tuberculosis treatment was influenced by several factors.

AIM To analyze access(availability, affordability and acceptability) to biologicals for Crohn's disease(CD) in ten European countries and to explore the associations between these dimensions, the uptake of biologicals and economic *** A questionnaire-based survey combined with desk research was carried out in May 2016. Gastroenterologists from the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden were invited to participate and provide data on the availability of biologicals/biosimilars, reimbursement criteria, clinical practice and prices, and use of biologicals. An availability score was developed to evaluate the restrictiveness of eligibility and administrative criteria applied in the countries. Affordability was defined as the annual cost of treatment as a share of gross domestic product(GDP) per capita. Correlations with the uptake of biologicals, dimensions of access and GDP per capita were *** At the time of the survey, infliximab and adalimumab were reimbursed in all ten countries, and vedolizumab was reimbursed in five countries(France, Germany, Latvia, Slovakia, Sweden). Reimbursement criteria were the least strict in Sweden and Germany, and the strictest in Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. Between countries, the annual cost of different biological treatments differed 1.6-3.3-fold. Treatments were the most affordable in Sweden(13%-37% of the GDP per capita) and the least affordable in the Central and Eastern European countries, especially in Hungary(87%-124%) and Romania(141%-277%). Biosimilars made treatments more affordable by driving down the annual costs. The number of patients with CD on biologicals per 100000 population was strongly correlated with GDP per capita(0.91), although substantial differences were found in the uptake among countries with similar economic development.
