CO2/CH4 separation using inside coated thin film composite hollow fiber membranes prepared by interfacial polymerization

Carbon dioxide(CO_2) is greenhouse gas which originates primarily as a main combustion product of biogas and landfill gas. To separate this gas, an inside coated thin film composite(TFC) hollow fiber membrane was developed by interfacial polymerization between 1,3–cyclohexanebis–methylamine(CHMA) and trimesoyl chloride(TMC). ATR-FTIR, SEM and AFM were used to characterize the active thin layer formed inside the PSf hollow fiber. The separation behavior of the CHMA-TMC/PSf membrane was scrutinized by studying various effects like feed gas pressure and temperature. Furthermore, the influence of CHMA concentration and TMC concentration on membrane morphology and performance were investigated. As a result, it was found that mutually the CHMA concentration and TMC concentration play key roles in determining membrane morphology and performance. Moreover, the CHMA-TMC/PSf composite membrane showed good CO_2/CH_4 separation performance. For CO_2/CH_4 mixture gas(30/70 by volume) test, the membrane(PD1 prepared by CHMA 1.0% and TMC 0.5%) showed a CO_2 permeance of 25 GPU and the best CO_2/CH_4 selectivity of 28 at stage cut of 0.1. The high CO_2/CH_4 separation performance of CHMA-TMC/PSf thin film composite membrane was mostly accredited to the thin film thickness and the properties of binary amino groups.

Human UBC9 is a member of the E2 family of proteins. However, instead of conjugating to ubiquitin, it conjugates to a ubiquitin homologue SUMO-1 (also known as UBL1, GMP1, SMTP3, PICT-1 and sentrin). The SUMO-1 conjugation pathway is very similar to that of ubiquitin with regard to the primary sequences of the ubiquitin activating enzymes (E1), the three-dimensional structures of the ubiquitin conjugating enzymes (E2), and the chemistry of the overall conjugation pathway. The interaction of p53 and UBC9, the E2 of the SUMO-1 pathway, has been studied by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. A peptide corresponding to the nuclear localization domain of p53 specifically interacts with UBC9 and this interaction is likely to be important for conjugation of p53 with SUMO-1. The largest chemical shift changes on UBC9 occur at residues 94 and 129-135. This region is adjacent to the active site and has significant dynamic behavior on the μs-ms and ps-ns timescales. Correlation of chemical shift changes and mobility of these residues further suggest the importance of these residues in substrate recognition.

This paper presents new results of transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) investigation of the structure-phase compositions of thick (150 μm) coatings on the base of Ni-Cr and Co-Cr deposited by plasma-detonation on steel substrates. The phase structures and morphology of precipitation from solid solution are defined. The microstructure model of a thick plasma detonation coating on steel substrate is developed. The main aim of carrying out these investigations is developing science based recommendations for modification of plasma-detonation coatings by plasma-jet or e-beam.

Design and synthesis of low bandgap(LBG) polymer donors is inevitably challenging and their processability from a non-halogenated solvent system remains a hurdle to overcome in the area of highperformance polymer solar cells(PSCs).Due to a high aggregation tendency of LBG polymers,especially diketopyrrolopyrrole(DPP)-based polymers coupled with bithiophenes in the polymer backbones,their widespread adoption in non-ha logena ted solvent-processed PSCs has been ***,a novel LBG DPP-based polymer,called PDPP4 T-1 F with asymmetric arrangement of fluorine atom,has been successfully synthesized and showed an outstanding power conversion efficiency(PCE) of 10.10% in a singlejunction fullerene-based ***,an impressive PCE of 13.21% has been achieved in a tandem device from a fully non-halogenated solvent system,which integrates a wide bandgap PDTBTBz-2 F polymer in the bottom cell and LBG PDPP4 T-1 F polymer in the top *** achieved efficiency is the highest value reported in the literature to date in fullerene-based tandem *** found that a uniformly distributed interpenetrating fibril network with nano-scale phase separation and anisotropy of the polymer backbone orientation for efficient charge transfer/transport and suppressed charge recombination in PDPP4 T-1 F-based PSCs led to outstanding PCEs in single and tandem-junction PSCs.

There is an urgent need to provide a rapid and selective method to analyze food and water samples contaminated with Staphylococcus aureus since it is one of the most potential food and waterborne pathogens. Thus, a portable bio-sensing system and disposable bacterial-sensor chips consisted of anti-S. aureus @MPA/Au NPs-Cu-MOF@SPE were designed, fabricated, and applied for 20-min-based analysis of food and water samples. In this regard, screen-printed electrodes（SPEs） were functionalized with a new synthesized copper-metal organic framework（Cu-MOF） conjugated with gold nanoparticles（Au NPs） to eff ectively promote the chemical immobilization of the bio-receptor（anti-S. aureus antibody） onto the sensor matrix using the mercaptopropionic acid（MPA） as a chemical cross-linker. Subsequently, parameters aff ecting the bacterial-sensing effi-cacy were studied and optimized. Accordingly, high sensitivity was obtained with a wide dynamic linear range from 1 × 10 to 1 × 10～7 colony forming units per milliliter（CFU/m L） with correlation coefficient（ R2） of 0.990, limit of detection and limit of quantification of 0.132 CFU/m L, and 0.440 CFU/m L, respectively. High selectivity was provided since no electrochemical signals were obtained from various non-targeting strains of common pathogens, including the Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Salmonella enterica, Streptococcus mutans, and Enterococcus faecalis. Eventually, the newly developed handheld bacterial-sensing platform was applied for the rapid analysis of S. aureus in food and water samples.

The interfaces between the inorganic metal oxide and organic photoactive layer are of outmost importance for efficiency and stability in organic solar cells(OSCs).Tin oxide(SnO_(2))is one of the promising candidates for the electron transport layer(ETL)in high-performance inverted *** a solution-processed SnO_(2)ETL is employed,however,the presence of interfacial defects and suboptimal interfacial contact can lower the power conversion efficiency(PCE)and operational stability of ***,highly efficient and stable inverted OSCs by modification of the SnO_(2)surface with ultraviolet(UV)-curable acrylate oligomers(SAR and OCS)are *** highest PCEs of 16.6%and 17.0%are achieved in PM6:Y6-BO OSCs with the SAR and OCS,respectively,outperforming a device with a bare SnO_(2)ETL(PCE 13.8%).The remarkable enhancement of PCEs is attributed to the optimized interfacial contact,leading to mitigated surface *** strikingly,improved light-soaking and thermal stability strongly correlated with the interfacial defects are demonstrated for OSCs based on SnO_(2)/UV cross-linked resins compared to OSCs utilizing bare SnO_(2).We believe that UV cross-linking oligomers will play a key role as interfacial modifiers in the future fabrication of large-area and flexible OSCs with high efficiency and stability.

Determination of Flow Structure in a Gold Leaching Tank by CFD Simulation

Experimental residence time distribution (RTD) measurement and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation are the best methods to study the hydrodynamics of process flow systems. However, CFD approach leads to better understanding of the flow structure and extent of mixing in stirred tanks. In the present study, CFD models were used to simulate the flow in an industrial gold leaching tank. The objective of the investigation was to characterize the flowfield generated within the tank after process intensification. The flow was simulated using an Eulerian-Eulerian multi-fluid model where the RANS standard kmixture model and a multiple reference frame approach were used to model turbulence and impeller rotation respectively. The simulated flowfield was found to be in agreement with the flow pattern of pitched blade axial-flow impellers that was used for mixing. The leaching tank exhibited good “off-bottom suspension” which reveals minimum deposition of gold ore particles on the bottom of the leaching tanks. Simulation results were consistent with experimental results obtained from a radioactive tracer investigation. CFD approach gave a better description of the flow structure and extent of mixing in a leaching tank. Hence it could be a preferred approach for flow system analysis where the cost of experimentation is high.

To demonstrate flexible and tandem device applications,a low-temperature Cu_(2)ZnSnSe_(4)(CZTSe)deposition process,combined with efficient alkali doping,was ***,high-quality CZTSe films were grown at 480℃by a single co-evaporation,which is applicable to polyimide(PI)*** of the alkali-free substrate,Na and K alkali doping were systematically studied and optimized to precisely control the alkali distribution in *** bulk defect density was significantly reduced by suppression of deep acceptor states after the(NaF+KF)*** the low-temperature deposition with(NaF+KF)PDTs,the CZTSe device on glass yields the best efficiency of 8.1%with an improved Voc deficit of 646 *** developed deposition technologies have been applied to *** the first time,we report the highest efficiency of 6.92%for flexible CZTSe solar cells on ***,CZTSe devices were utilized as bottom cells to fabricate four-terminal CZTSe/perovskite tandem cells because of a low bandgap of CZTSe(~1.0 eV)so that the tandem cell yielded an efficiency of 20%.The obtained results show that CZTSe solar cells prepared by a low-temperature process with in-situ alkali doping can be utilized for flexible thin-film solar cells as well as tandem device applications.

In this study computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach was used to study mixing in an Industrial gold leaching tank. The objective was to analyze the extent of mixing in the tank by producing visual images of the various mixing zones in the tank domain. Eddy viscosity plots that characterise the extent of mixing in the tank were generated in the flow field obtained by an Eulerian-Eulerian approach. The extent of mixing was found to be greatest in the circulation loops of the impeller discharge region and least at the top and bottom portions of the tank. Trailing vortices that contribute to some level of mixing were identified in between the impeller blades. This approach could be used to enhance optimum design of mixing vessels and to eliminate the need for pilot plants.
