In order to reduce the air pollution by traditional fossil fuel and save the charging cost, much attention has been paid to the charging scheduling of electric vehicles(EVs) in the uncertain supplement of wind power and solar power. Owing to the randomness in the renewable power generation and the EV charging demand, simulation-based policy improvement(SBPI) has been well adopted for making charging decision. However, it is challenging to explore the large action space which grows exponentially with respect to the system scale. We consider this important problem in this paper and make the following contributions.First, we explore the structural property of the problem and develop an urgency index to rank the EVs.Second, we apply three methods to search in the action space. Third, we numerically demonstrate the performance of the urgency index and the search methods, and compare the SBPI methods with the CPLEXbased method. It shows that SBPI improves the base policies in all these cases.

Optimal scheduling of the power generation system is of great importance to the security and reliability of the power grid. Microgrid can reduce operating costs through reasonable economic dispatch. At present, related research mainly uses the power balance constraint based on the discrete-time model, which couldn’t exactly model the integral relationship between electrical energy and power output rate of generators. A scheduling formulation is established with consideration of integral constraints and nonanticipativity in this paper. With detailed analyzing the original model, a three-stage numerical solution method is proposed. By solving convex programming, in most instances, the global optimal solution can be obtained efficiently. The optimal schedule in the sense of expectation can be obtained with the real-time load demand satisfied and nonanticipativity guaranteed. Numerical testing for autonomous power plants of a big steel enterprise is performed and the effectiveness of the method is verified.

With the large-scale integration of the uncertain and renewable power sources, more attention has been paid to stochastic optimization based methods for security constrained unit commitment（SCUC） problems in recent years. In this paper, several representative formulations and methods are reviewed and compared qualitatively including deterministic method with increased system reserves, two-stage/multi-stage stochastic programming, two-stage/multi-stage robust optimization, interval optimization, and all-scenario-feasible formulation. The methods are mainly compared on four aspects: uncertainty representation, solution’s nonanticipativity, solution’s all-scenario-feasibility, complexity of formulations and solution methods. Several simple while important examples are given in the paper to get a better understanding of the methods. It is concluded from the comparison that nonanticipativity is a crucial requirement in problem formulation and in real world application and has to be carefully addressed. Possible extensions of future research are also discussed in this paper.

An extended product multi-sensor cardinalized probability hypothesis density (PM-CPHD) filter for spatial registration and multi-target tracking (MTT) is proposed. The number and states of targets and the biases of sensors are jointly estimated by this method without the data association. Monte Carlo (MC) simulation results show that the proposed method (i) outperforms, although computationally more expensive than, the extended multi-sensor PHD filter which has been proposed for joint spatial registration and MTT; (ii) outperforms the multi-sensor joint probabilistic data association (MSJPDA) filter which is also extended in this study for joint spatial registration and MTT when the clutter is relatively dense.

Multiple-model approach is one of the main streams for hybrid estimation.The difficulty of this approach to estimate the hybrid state of the semi-ballistic reentry vehicle (SBRV) is model-set design.This paper proposes a quasi-Monte Carlo model set that can ensure the estimator near-optimal in the sense of minimum mean square error (MMSE).The SBRV has a high nonlinearity and its mode is spanned by multiple parameters with known bounds.The design methods and characteristics of the quasi-Monte Carlo model set are given.The proposed model set has a higher accuracy than the model-set generated by the Monte Carlo method.The theoretical analysis and simulation results show the effectiveness and reasonability of the newly designed model set.

The optimization of the multiple energy systems consisting of renewable energy resources, storage devices, various loads, etc., could significantly facilitate the energy efficiency and has thus attracted lots of attention. Since a perfect knowledge of the state of charge（SOC） of the storage devices may be difficult or costly in practice, in this paper we consider the optimization problem of the multiple energy systems with imperfect SOC knowledge of storage devices. The problem is formulated as a partially observable Markov decision process（POMDP）. A cyber-physical simulation-based optimization algorithm is developed to solve the problem. The effectiveness of the developed method under uncertainties in the supply and demand and the performance degradation compared to the case with perfect SOC knowledge are demonstrated based on numerical case studies.

Input data in linear programming（LP） problems might be uncertain according to practical requirements. Robust linear optimization（RLO） processes uncertain data belong to some uncertain sets before modeling and searches for the optimal solution of the worst case. Besides, in traditional LP post-optimal analysis, basis invariancy sensitivity analysis determines some values of model parameters for which a given optimal basis remain optimal. In this paper, the basis invariancy sensitivity analysis for RLO is presented. Perturbations which happen in the cost coefficients, the right-hand-side（RHS） coefficients, and the technology matrix are both considered. The invariancy regions for RLO are given, and it is shown that if the worst case belongs to the invariancy regions, the optimal basis of robust solution will keep invariant to the primal optimal basis. On the contrary, the optimal basis of robust solution will be different from the primal optimal basis if the worst case does not belong to the invariancy regions. Finally, a numeric testing example is given to illustrate the result.

Belief functions theory is an important tool in the field of information fusion. However, when the cardinality of the frame of discernment becomes large, the high computational cost of evidence combination will become the bottleneck of belief functions theory in real applications. The basic probability assignment （BPA） approximations, which can reduce the complexity of the BPAs, are always used to reduce the computational cost of evidence combination. In this paper, both the cardinalities and the mass assignment values of focal elements are used as the criteria of reduction. The two criteria are jointly used by using rank-level fusion. Some experiments and related analyses are provided to illustrate and justify the proposed new BPA approximation approach.
