Photocatalysis has emerged as an effective approach to sustainably convert biomass into value-added ***_(2)is a promising nonprecious,efficient cocatalyst for photooxidation,which can facilitate the separation of photogenerated electron–holes,increase the reaction rates,and enhance photocatalytic *** this work,we synthesized a stable and efficient photocatalysis system of CoSe_(2)/g-C_(3)N_(4)through attaching CoSe_(2)on g-C_(3)N_(4)sheets,with a yield of 50.12%for the selective photooxidation of xylose to xylonic *** light illumination,the photogenerated electrons were prone to migrating from g-C_(3)N_(4)to CoSe_(2)due to the higher work function of CoSe_(2),resulting in the accelerated separation of photogenerated electron–holes and the promoted ***,this study reveals the unique function of CoSe_(2),which can significantly promote oxygen adsorption,work as an electron sink and accelerate the generation of$O2-,thereby improving the selectivity toward xylonic acid over other *** work provides useful insights into the design of selective photocatalysts by engineering g-C_(3)N_(4)for biomass high-value utilization.

The magnetic response, microstructural and texture changes occurring during cold rolling of a Fe-14mn-0.64C-2.4AI-0.25Si medium stacking fault energy TWlP （twinning induced plasticity） steel have been studied by X-ray diffraction and magnetic techniques. The changes in the sub-grain size （Ds）, probability of stacking fault formation （Psf） and microstrain in the material as cold rolling progressed were determined by using a modified version of the Williamson and Hall equation. A strong development of the crystallographic texture with increasing deformation was observed. Deformation-induced formation of a small fraction α＇-martensite was observed, indicating that the steel also exhibits γ→α＇-martensite transformation during cold rolling, which is discussed via the changes of the stacking-fault probability and the texture development during cold rolling.

The Role and mechanisms of Double Negative Regulatory T Cells in the Suppression of Immune Responses

Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that regulatory T(Treg) cells play an important role in the maintenance of immunologic self-tolerance and in down-regulating various immune ***,there has recently been an increasing interest in studying the biology of Treg cells as well as their potential application in treating immune *** types of Treg cell subsets have been reported in a variety of disease models. Among these subsets,αβTCR^+CD3^+CD4^-CD8^- double negative(DN) Treg cells are defined by their capability of inhibiting immune responses via directly killing effector T cells in an antigen specific ***,DN Treg cells have been shown to develop regulatory activity after encountering specific antigens,partially mediated by the acquisition of mHC-peptide complexes from antigen presenting cells(APCs).The presentation of acquired alloantigens on DN T cells allows for the specific interaction between DN Treg cells and alloantigen reactive effector T *** the DN Treg and target cells have come into contact,killing is then mediated by Fas/Fas-ligand interactions,and perhaps through other unidentified *** characterization of the functions,molecular expression and mechanisms of activation of DN Treg cells will help in the development of novel therapies to induce antigen specific tolerance to self and foreign *** & molecular Immunology.2004;1(5):328-335.

The influence of airtightness on contaminant spread in mURBs in cold climates

The melanophila acuminata beetle is attracted to forest fires via a pair of infrared sensory organs composed of sensilla. Our histological work showed that each sensillum contains lipid layers surrounding a protein layer and a unique polysaccharide base that is associated with a neuron to each sensillum. Infrared microscopy showed that the protein region maximally absorbs infrared radiation at 3 ~tm wavelength and at 10 ~tm, which corresponds to the known radiation produced by forest fires at 3 ~tm. mathematical calculations showed that the physical properties of the sensilla are such that the expected temperature rise is insufficient for transduction of the infrared signal through mechanical means or as a thermal receptor as previously thought; hence the protein plays the pivotal role in perception of single photons and transmission of the signal within the sensilla.

Topology optimization and seismic collapse assessment of shape memory alloy(SmA)-braced frames:Effectiveness of Fe-based SmAs

This paper presents a seismic topology optimization study of steel braced frames with shape memory alloy(SmA)*** SmA-braced frames(SmA-BFs)with either Fe-based SmA or NiTi braces are determined in a performance-based seismic design *** topology optimization is performed on 5-and 10-story SmA-BFs considering the placement,length,and cross-sectional area of SmA bracing ***,strength,and performance-based design constraints are considered in the *** seismic response and collapse safety of topologically optimal SmA-BFs are assessed according to the FEmA P695 methodology.A comparative study on the optimal SmA-BFs is also presented in terms of total relative cost,collapse capacity,and peak and residual story *** results demonstrate that Fe-based SmA-BFs exhibit higher collapse capacity and more uniform distribution of lateral displacement over the frame height while being more cost-effective than NiTi braced *** addition to a lower unit price compared to NiTi,Fe-based SmAs reduce SmA material *** frames with Fe-based SmA braces,the SmA usage is reduced by up to 80%.The results highlight the need for using SmAs with larger recoverable strains.

Investigation of dense slurry suspensions with coaxial mixers:Influences of design variables through tomography and mathematical modelling

The coaxial mixers enhance the suspension of concentrated slurries in an agitated *** this research work,the complex slurry suspension and dissemination behavior in a coaxial slurry mixing system(comprised of a close clearance anchor rotating with a low speed and an inner axial impeller rotating with a high speed)was analyzed employing ERT(electrical resistance tomography,a non-intrusive flow visualization technique),and computational fluid dynamics(CFD).The numerical models were validated by comparing the axial solid concentration profiles generated using the ERT data and the CFD simulation *** influences of various important parameters such as the diameter of the inner axial impeller,the inner impeller type,and the inner impeller spacing on the hydrodynamic characteristics of the slurry suspensions in a coaxial mixing vessel were thoroughly *** radial and axial velocity profiles of solid particles were generated using the validated mathematical *** assessment of energy loss due to the solid-solid collisions,the particle-fluid frictions,and the particle-vessel wall collisions was *** evaluation of optimum inner impeller clearance and inner impeller diameter is essential to attain a high degree of solids suspension and dissemination in a coaxial slurry mixing system.

Framework for internal sensation of pleasure using constraints from disparate findings in nucleus accumbens

It is necessary to find a mechanism that generates first-person inner sensation of pleasure to understand what causes addiction and associated behaviour by drugs of *** actual mechanism is expected to explain several disparate findings in nucleus accumbens(NAc),a brain region associated with pleasure,in an interconnected ***,it was possible to derive a mechanism for natural learning and explain:(1)Generation of inner sensation of memory using changes generated by learning;and(2)Long-term potentiation as an experimental delayed scaled-up change by the same mechanism that occur during natural *** extending these findings and by using disparate third person observations in NAc from several studies,present work provides a framework of a mechanism that generates internal sensation of pleasure that can provide interconnected explanations for:(1)Ability to induce robust long-term depression(LTD)in NAc from naïve animals;(2)Impaired ability to induce LTD in“addicted”state;(3)Attenuation of postsynaptic potentials by cocaine;and(4)Reduced firing of medium spiny neurons in response to cocaine or *** made by this work are testable.
