INTRODUCTION Recent development has seen a drastic increase in energy use trends in Saudi Arabian buildings leading to a demand for an effective course of action for energy conservation and production.A case study-based research initiative explor-ing near-zero energy potential in Saudi Arabia was undertaken.A 4-bedroom detached single-family faculty residence at King Fahd University of Petroleum and minerals(KFUPm)representing common regional housing design trends was utilized.A base case simulation model of the house was developed and val-idated using short-term and real-time energy consumption *** sets of strategies:passive design strategies,representative codes and standards,and renewable technology were employed in the new design of the *** strategies com-prised a green roof,a ventilated wall system,a sloped roof,and insulation for thermal *** alternatives helped reduce the annual energy consumption of the house by 17.2%.The most recent version of the International Energy Conserva-tion Code(IECC 2012)was also incorporated along with ASHRAE Standard 62.2 for *** code and standard together reduced the annual energy consumption by 31.1%.Solar PV was then utilized to reduce grid utilization for the remainder of the house energy *** strategy provided 24.7%of the total energy consumed annually.A combination of strategies showed a 70.7%energy consumption reduction,thereby decreasing the energy index of the house from 162.9 to 47.7 kWh/m^(2)/*** Zero Energy Building(ZEB)concepts and strategies utilized in this study demonstrate a socially responsible approach to achieving near-zero energy performance for an existing house.

The soil conservation movement in Brazil has been a major driving force in the continuing search for agricultural farming systems that are more sustainable than what we have today,particularly in tropical and subtropical *** development and adoption of Zero Tillage Conservation Agriculture(ZT/CA)was the key to the success of this movement,generating agricultural,environmental,and societal *** of the ZT/CA philosophy and technologies is currently practiced on more than 50%of the annual crop *** is due to the work and innovations of pioneering farmers,agronomists,researchers,and consultants that were and are involved in these *** extensive adoption of ZT/CA occurred after many unsuccessful efforts to mitigate against the devastating effects of soil erosion that were threatening the entire agricultural industry in *** and farmers realized that erosion control required continual cover of the soil to guard against the torrential rain storms common to these *** triggered the efforts of soil conservation pioneers at different points in time and regions of *** southern Brazil,Herbert Bartz,watched his topsoil eroding away in torrents of *** set him thinking and searching for alternatives,resulting in his adoption of ZT/CA farming in *** years later in Brazil’s centre-western savannah(Cerrado biome),farmers,researchers,crop consultants and agro-industry initiated efforts to expand cultivation into the very difficult production region of the *** was successfully achieved through the pioneering work of agronomist John Landers,bringing experience from the ZT/CA farmer association networks in the *** were the turning points in the sustainable development of annual crop farming in ***,society recognizes the role of these pioneers as key to achieving social,economic and environmental ***/CA reversed the historically accelerating degradation of soil organic matter

Background: Infants with developmental skull asymmetry referred to the physiotherapist have increased since 1990. At the physiotherapy clinic the parents often claim that they did not get enough or unclear information from the Health Care Centre. Aim: To investigate where a possible gap between parents and nurses comprehension is, and also to give proposals how to achieve more effective information. method: A survey with quantitative approach, questionnaires were distributed to nurses and parents. Results: 84% of the nurses totally agreed that they inform all parents about preventative intervention. 98% of the nurses totally agreed that they inform about tummy time and 85% stated that they inform about the variation of head position. There were significant differences between nurses and parents’ perception regarding optimal time of receiving information, parents estimated that it was provided late. Only 19% of the nurses totally agreed that the routines were good enough. Conclusion: This study indicates that nurses inform but the parents do not always comprehend the information or understand the importance. Only a fifth of the nurses totally agreed that the routines are good enough, this indicates that better routines are needed. The nurses found it easier to give preventative information than giving information when a skull asymmetry had developed.

A power swing may cause unwanted tripping of the distance protection. The power swing blocking is a function commonly used to prevent the distance protection from operating during power swing. When a distance relay is blocked, it cannot react to faults anymore. This paper proposes a new method to prevent this protection from operating during power swing condition when no fault occurs. In this method, swings are removed from the voltage and current signals, using （d-q） frame, and then these signals are used in the impedance calculation of the distance relay. So, the distance protection is not blocked and can trip when a fault occurs. Simulation results are presented for a typical system using PscAD software.

＜正＞ The phase diagram of water under pressure shows several characteristics which make it possible to optimize freezing and thawing processes of food and biomaterial. Under pressure the melting point of ordinary ice （ice I） is lowered to a minimum of -22 ℃at 210 mPa. At higher pressures other ice polymorphs with a higher density than liquid water exist which show rising melting temperature with rising pressure.

OBJECTIVE:Whole brain radiotherapy(WBRT)provides benefit for patients with b rain metastases but may result in neurological toxicity for patien ts with extended survival *** reotactic radiosurgery in combination with WBRT has become an important approach,but the value of WBRT has been *** an alternative to WBRT,we managed patients with stereotactic radiosurgery alone,evaluated pati ents’outcomes,and assessed prognostic factors for survival and tumor c ***:One hundred seventy-two patients with b rain metastases were managed with ra diosurgery *** hundred twent y-one patients were evaluable with follow-up imaging after *** median patien t age was 60.5years(age range,16-86yr).The mean marginal tumor dose and volume were 18.5Gy (range,11-22Gy )and 4.4ml (range,0.1-24.9ml ).Eighty percent of patients had soli tary ***:The overall median survival time *** median survival time in patients with no evidence of primary tumor disease or stable disease was 13and *** local tumor contr ol rate was 87%.At 2years,the rate of local control,remote brain control,and total intr acranial control were 75%,41%,and 27%,*** multivariate a nalysis,advanced primary tumor status(P=0.0003),older age(P=0.008),lower Karnofsky Performance scale score(P=0.01),and malignant melanoma (P=0.005)were significant for poorer surviva *** median survival time was 28mon ths for patients younger than 60years of age,with Karnofsky Performance scale score o f at least 90,and whose primary tumor status showed either no evidence of disease or stable *** volume (P=0.02)alone was significant for local tumo r control,whereas no factor affecte d remote or intracranial tumor contr *** patients developed complica tions,six of which were ***(16.5%)of 116patients in whom the cause of death was obtained died as a result of cause s related to brain ***:Brain metastases were controlled

Nowadays, glazing is one of the fundamental problems for designers and architects. The problem is that windows are bi-directional;they transfer energy in both directions simultaneously. On one hand radiation and light are transferred to interior, on the other hand heat and energy are conducted to outside. Although windows allow light enter to the building, it should be balanced with the view to the exterior. As a solution intelligent windows are keeping the buildings from extra shining, radiations, heat, inappropriate views, and energy loss. Electrochromic, Gasochromic, Thermochromic, Photochromic, and Liquid Crystal are different types of smart windows, having discrepant capability to solve mentioned problems. In this paper we have analyzed all kinds of intelligent windows and their characteristics in order to find the best one for tropical regions which has capability to reduce light intensity and heat, but prepare enough visibility to outside. In this research semi- experimental and logical argumentation adopted as research method, which enriched with descriptive-analytical techniques.
