Silicon-based optical phased array with a reconfigurable aperture for“gaze”scanning of LiDAR

Light detection and ranging(LiDAR)serves as one of the key components in the fields of autonomous driving,surveying mapping,and environment ***,dense points clouds are pursued by LiDAR systems to provide high-definition 3D ***,the LiDAR is typically used to produce abundant yet redundant data for scanning the homogeneous background of scenes,resulting in power waste and excessive processing ***,it is highly desirable for a LiDAR system to“gaze”at the target of interest by dense scanning and rough sparse scans on the uninteresting ***,we propose a LiDAR structure based on an optical phased array(OPA)with reconfigurable apertures to achieve such a gaze scanning *** virtue of the cascaded optical switch integrated on the OPA chip,a 64-,128-,192-,or 256-channel antenna can be selected discretionarily to construct an aperture with variable *** corresponding divergence angles for the far-field beam are 0.32°,0.15°,0.10°,and 0.08°,*** reconfigurable-aperture OPA enables the LiDAR system to perform rough scans via the large beam spots prior to fine scans of the target by using the tiny beam *** this way,the OPA-based LiDAR can perform the“gaze”function and achieve full-range scanning *** scanning time and power consumption can be reduced by 1/4 while precise details of the target are ***,we embed the OPA into a frequency-modulated continuous-wave(FMCW)system to demonstrate the“gaze”function in beam *** results show that the number of precise scanning points can be reduced by 2/3 yet can obtain the reasonable outline of the *** reconfigurable-aperture OPA(RA-OPA)can be a promising candidate for the applications of rapid recognition,like car navigation and robot vision.

By conducting a two-dimensional experimental study,this paper aims to enhance the understanding of the mechanism of sand convective motions in the vicinity of a wall subjected to long-term cyclic lateral *** experimental tests were conducted in a rectangular sandbox with a transparent front-wall,through which the process of sand particle motions could be recorded by using a high-resolution digital *** images were processed with a high time-resolved PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry)*** on the experimental data,this work(1)presents the sand flow field in the convective zones;(2)provides means to describe the convection mechanism;(3)proposes the relationships between the loading conditions and dimensions of the region with intense sand movement;and(4)elaborates the similarity of the sand flow velocity structure within the sand convective zones.

Aqueous zinc(Zn)batteries with Zn metal anodes are promising clean energy storage devices with intrinsic safety and low ***,Zn dendrite growth severely restricts the use of Zn *** effectively suppress Zn dendrite growth,we propose a bilayer separator consisting of commercial butter paper and glassfiber *** dense cellulose-based butter paper(BP)with low zincophilicity and high mechanical properties prevents the pore-filling behavior of deposited Zn and related separator piercing,effectively suppressing the Zn dendrite *** a result,the bilayer separators endow the ZnjjZn symmetrical batteries with a superlong cycling life of Zn anodes(over 5000 h)at 0.5 mA cm^(-2) and the full batteries enhanced capacity retention,demonstrating the advancement of the bilayer separator to afford excellent cyclability of aqueous metal batteries.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries possess substantial potential for energy storage applications;however,they are hampered by challenges such as dendrite formation and uncontrolled side reactions occurring at the zinc *** our investigation,we sought to mitigate these issues through the utilization of in situ zinc complex formation reactions to engineer hydrophobic protective layers on the zinc anode *** robust interfacial layers serve as effective barriers,isolating the zinc anode from the electrolyte and active water molecules and thereby preventing hydrogen evolution and the generation of undesirable ***,the presence of numerous zincophilic sites within these protective layers facilitates uniform zinc deposition while concurrently inhibiting dendrite *** comprehensive evaluation of functional anodes featuring diverse functional groups and alkyl chain lengths,we meticulously scrutinized the underlying mechanisms influencing performance *** analysis involved precise modulation of interfacial hydrophobicity,rapid Zn^(2+)ion transport,and ordered deposition of Zn^(2+)***,the optimized anode,fabricated with octadecylphosphate(OPA),demonstrated exceptional performance *** Zn//Zn symmetric cell exhibited remarkable longevity,exceeding 4000 h under a current density of 2 mA cm^(-2)and a capacity density of 2 mA h cm^(-2),Furthermore,when integrated with a VOH cathode,the complete cell exhibited superior capacity retention compared to anodes modified with alternative organic molecules.

Atomically precise metal nanoclusters(MNCs),as a potential type of photoacoustic(PA)contrast agent,are limited in application due to their low PA conversion efficiency(PACE).Here,with hydrophilic Au25SR18(SR=thiolate)as model NCs,we present a result that weakly polar solvent induces aggregation,which effectively enhances PA intensity and *** PA intensity and PACE are highly dependent on the degree of aggregation,while the aggregation-enhanced PA intensity(AEPA)positively correlates to the protected *** an AEPA phenomenon indicates that aggregation actually accelerates the intramolecular motion of Au NCs,and enlarges the proportion of excited state energy dissipated through vibrational *** result conflicts with the restriction of intramolecular motion mechanism of aggregation-induced *** experiments show that the increased energy of AEPA originates from the aggregation inhibiting the intermolecular energy transfer from excited Au NCs to their surrounding medium molecules,including solvent molecule and dissolved oxygen,rather than restricting radiative *** study develops a new strategy for enhancing the PA intensity of Au NCs,and contributes to a deeper understanding of the origin of the PA signal and the excited state energy dissipation processes for MNCs.
