Optimization of cooling structures in gas turbines:A review

Attempts for higher output power and thermal efficiency of gas turbines make the inlet temperature of turbine to be far beyond the material melting ***,to protect the airfoil in gas turbine from hot gas and eventually prolong the lifetime of the blade,internal and film cooling structures with better thermal performance and cooling effectiveness are urgently ***,the traditional way of proceeding involves numerous simulations,additional experiments,and separate *** of turbine cooling structures is an effective way to achieve better structures with higher overall performances while considering the multiple objectives,disciplines or *** this context,this paper reviews optimization research works on film cooling structures and internal cooling structures in gas turbines by means of various optimization *** review covers the following aspects:(A)optimization of film cooling conducted on flat plates and on turbine blades or vanes;(B)optimization of jet impingement cooling structures;(C)optimization of rib shapes,dimple shapes,pin–fin arrays in the cooling channels;(D)optimization of U-bend shaped cooling channels,and internal cooling systems of turbine blades or *** review shows that through a reliable and accurate optimization procedure combined with conjugate heat transfer analysis,higher overall thermal performance can be acquired for single-objective or multi-objectives balanced by other constrained *** ways forward are pointed out in this review.

Towards a holistic user innovation policy

This paper aims to synthesize previous user innovation policy proposals into an adapted system of innovation framework,on which a future holistic user innovation policy for the household sector can be *** do this in three ***,we introduce the systems of innovation framework as a comprehensive basis for a holistic approach to innovation ***,we identify and review policy proposals made by user innovation researchers and categorize them according to ten key activities in the systems of innovation ***,from a system of innovation perspective,we synthesize the policy proposals identified into an adapted framework,including determinants specific to user innovation in the household *** synthesized proposals are intended to strengthen the systemic and multi-causal effects of policy on household sector user innovation in a country,region,or *** policies for user innovation may,on this basis,be instrumental in avoiding mono-causality,or the concentration on only a few policy instruments in a proposed policy.

Mechanical Properties and Constitutive Relationship of the High-Durable Parallel Strand Bamboo

Engineered bamboo has recently received lots of attention of civil engineers and professional researchers due to its better mechanical performance than that of softwood *** strand bamboo is one important part of engineered bamboo for its excellent durable performance compared to the laminated veneer *** required curing temperature in hot-pressing process is usually higher than 120°C to reduce the content of nutri-tional ingredients and hemy cellulose,and to avoid the decay from the environment and ***,the appearance of engineered bamboo gets darker with the increase of temperature during the hot-pressing *** order to minimize the color deepening while maintaining the durability,a high-durable parallel strand bamboo(HPSB)with relative high hot-pressing temperature(140°C)was produced and *** present study inves-tigates the mechanical performance through tension,compression,shear and bending *** experimental behavior of the specimens was identified,including the failure mode and load-displacement *** was demonstrated that the HPSB material had better mechanical performance parallel to grain,making it as a considerable structural *** average elastic modulus parallel to grain was 14.1 GPa,and the tensile and compressive strengths were 120.7 MPa and 121.0 MPa,*** tension perpendicular to grain should be avoided in the practical application due to the lower strength and elastic *** stress-strain relationships of tension and compression parallel to grain,including three-linear and quadratic function models,were proposed and compared with the experimental *** three-linear model was then applied to the finite element *** finite element analysis using ANSYS software was conducted to validate the feasibility of the constitutive *** quadratic function model showed better agreement with the experimental results,but the three-linear relationship was also prec

Prosthetic loosening and periprosthetic osteolysis have been debated for decades,both in terms of the timing and nature of the triggering *** hypothesis of wear-particle-induced loosening states that wear particles cause a foreign-body response leading to periprosthetic osteolysis and ultimately to late prosthetic loosening,i.e.,that the osteolysis precedes the *** theory of early loosening,on the other hand,postulates that the loosening is already initiated during or shortly after surgery,i.e.,that the osteolysis is secondary to the *** commentary focuses on the causal relationship between prosthetic loosening and periprosthetic osteolysis.

Characterization of ultrafine particles from hardfacing coated brake rotors

Automotive brake rotors are commonly made from gray cast iron(GCI).During usage,brake rotors are gradually worn off and periodically ***,replaced brake rotors are mostly remelted to produce brand-new cast iron products,resulting in a relatively high energy consumption and carbon footprint into the *** addition,automotive brakes emit airborne *** of the emitted particles are categorized as ultrafine,which are sized below 100 nm,leading to a series of health and environmental *** this study,two surface treatment techniques are applied,ie.,high-velocity oxygen fuel(HVOF)and laser cladding(LC),to overlay wear-resistant coatings on conventional GCI brake rotors in order to refurbish the replaced GCI brake rotor and to avoid the remelting *** two coating materials are evaluated in terms of their coefficient of friction(CoF),wear,and ultrafine particle emissions,by comparing them with a typical GCI brake *** results show that the CoF of the HVOF disc is higher than those of the GCI and LC ***,HVOF disc has the lowest wear rate but results in the highest wear rate on the mating brake pad *** LC disc yields a similar wear rate as the GCI *** ultrafine particles from the GCI and LC discs appeared primarily in round,chunky,and flake *** HVOF disc emits unique needle-shaped *** the ultrafine particle range,the GCI and HVOF discs generate particles that are primarily below 100 nm in the running-in period and 200 nm in the steady ***,the LC disc emitted particles that are primarily~200 nm in the entire test run.

Background:Parents of children with complex right ventricular outflow tract(RVOT)anomalies are confronted with their child’s need for heart surgery early in life and repeated reoperations later *** assessment needs to be performed whenever an indication for reoperation is *** aim was to illuminate the experiences of parents of children diagnosed with RVOT anomalies,in particular,how they experience their child’s heart disease and everyday life during the assessment and after the decision on whether to perform a ***:Individual interviews(n=27)were conducted with nine parents on three occasions between 2014 and 2016 and analyzed using reflexive thematic ***:The analysis resulted in the following five main coexisting themes:The heart surgery keeps my child alive illuminates parents’experiences during and after the assessment and emphasizes that heart surgery,although dreaded,is central for their child’s survival;Everyday struggles illuminates the different struggles parents had to face to ensure that their child would be in the best possible condition;the remaining three themes,Unconditional love,Trust in life,and Togetherness,illuminate the ways in which the parents gained inner strength and confidence in their everyday ***:Although the parents were grateful for the assessment and had learned to navigate among the fears it aroused,they experienced several distressing situations during the assessment process that should be *** inviting both the parents and their child to participate in the child’s care,individualized support can take into account the needs of both parents and child.

A graph autoencoder network to measure the geometric similarity of drainage networks in scaling transformation

Similarity measurement has been a prevailing research topic geographic information *** similarity measurement inin scaling transformation(GSM_ST)is critical to ensure spatial data quality while balancing detailed information with distinctive ***,GSM_ST is an uncertain problem due to subjective spatial cognition,global and local concerns,and geometric *** rule-based methods considering multiple consistent conditions require subjective adjustments to characteristics and weights,leading to poor robustness in addressing GSM_*** study proposes an unsupervised representation learning framework for automated GSM_ST,using a Graph Autoencoder Network(GAE)and drainage networks as an *** framework involves constructing a drainage graph,designing the GAE architecture for GSM_ST,and using Cosine similarity to measure similarity based on the GAE-derived drainage embeddings in different *** perform extensive experiments and compare methods across 71 drainage networks duringfive scaling *** results show that the proposed GAE method outperforms other methods with a satisfaction ratio of around 88%and has strong ***,our proposed method also can be applied to other scenarios,such as measuring similarity between geographical entities at different times and data from different datasets.

Precise control of the discharge in space and time is of great significance for better applications of discharge ***,we used a femtosecond laser filament to trigger and guide a highvoltage DC pulse discharge to achieve spatiotemporal control of the discharge *** space,the discharge plasma is distributed strictly along the channel generated by the femtosecond laser *** breakdown voltage threshold is reduced,and the discharge length is *** time,the electrical parameters such as the electrode voltage and the electrode gap affect discharge delay time and *** optimizing the parameters,we can achieve sub-nanosecond jitter of the *** on the spatiotemporal control of the discharge,we applied filamenttriggered discharge for one-dimensional composition measurements of the gas flow ***,the technique shows great potential in studying the spatiotemporal evolution of discharge plasma.
